My water heater broke down on a Sunday, their technician came to try to fix it on Monday. He told me that it was an intake problem and planned to replace the motor. He ordered a motor and planned to return the next day to install.
On Tuesday, the technician was 45 minutes later than the set appointment time (1-4 pm) with no call to let me know. My father in law (he's retired) was at my home from 1 pm onward waiting. He came in with the newly ordered motor, then told me that he couldn't replace the motor because whoever installed the first water heater glued a pipe to the old motor... It was a plastic pipe that could be easily cut and replaced. Regardless, he said that he would get us a new water heater out the next day. I told the tech that this is starting to cost us money because we take time off work. He then informed me to ask my father in law to just be here because he has nothing else to do because he's retired.
The tech then put in an order for the replacement water heater and then left. The installer came on Wednesday, but the water heater that the tech ordered was too big and wouldn't fit in the space, so they had to order a different water heater. The new water heater is bigger, so they would have to refit the pipes, so Enercare tried to tell me that they were going to charge us over $800 to install the rented water heater because they had to adjust the pipes. It is not the home owners fault that the manufacturer change the size by 11 inches. After three calls with Enercare, and dealing with different agents, Enercare told us that they would help cover the cost by making the total only $300 for the install. Gee, what a deal on a RENTED water heater that makes 3 times its value or more during the rental term.
At this point I called a different company who offered me a new water heater to rent, 3 months free rent, and they waived the new registrant fee all due to how we were being treated by Enercare. We obviously went with the other company.
The next day, the other company's installer came and worked tirelessly all day to make sure that we had hot water. They had to raise the pipes (as Enercare said), but they charged us nothing! The installer even told me that they have never charged anything for an install.
All in all, a terrible experience with Enercare, and I would not recommend them to anyone looking for a water heater in Mississauga.
