    New backyard door

It was a pleasant experience dealing with Dave from Encore Home Improvements. Michael and Richard were punctual and did exactly what they needed to do efficiently and very quickly. They left absolutely no mess behind. They did an outstanding job. We love our new back yard door. I would definitely recommend calling Dave from Encore Home Improvements. Thank You Gilda Arnone

Replaced all windows in smaller home and installed bquiet on one side of house

I'm writing this review to communicate the great service and quality product we received in May 2017 from Encore bquiet windows. As a recent widow who worked together with my husband on large house projects - replacing all eight windows while also dealing with the noise from a semi busy street on one side of the house loomed over me as an overwhelming task that I was putting off. Then I read about the Encore bquiet window system. From the very first meeting with Anthony to the installation performed by George, the experience was one of professionalism, solid product knowledge, excellent workmanship and quality product. From Anthony's patience to respond to my endless technical questions to the detailed demonstrations of the bquiet system in the showroom and the competent installation, this is a company that delivers what they promise. A word about bquiet - at first I was unsure about the effectiveness of the more expensive bquiet system with respect to the noise reduction (i.e. STC numbers) from traffic on one side of the house, but I was proven wrong. As my daughter puts it ‘mom, you can see the cars go by now but you can't hear them!’. To offer a little more detail to someone with a noise problem - the noise from the occasional heavy truck and frequent daytime bus are significantly reduced but not to the same degree as vehicles. We would wholeheartedly recommend this company - the windows, installation, as well as the bquiet system for noise reduction. This company does the job right the first time, and also made a point to follow up a few weeks after the installation to make ensure there were no concerns after living with the new windows for a few weeks. Thank you, Anthony and George! Hope to work with you again when we install more bquiet throughout the house in the coming years. Regards, Jenny Paolone

The right choice for windows? Maybe not

See my initial review below, sounds like many of the others you will read on this company. But as the saying goes "How one handles adversity is a true sign of their character" and what I saw when I had a new leak problem showed me their true colours. Sounded like the same response which you can get from majority of trades "blame someone else" once your paid. I had a leak and when a new one formed from a lot of rain the last few weeks causing some drywall damage below the windows I was puzzled, angry and concerned. Immediately called Dave and he was certain it wasn't the windows and suggested an inspector. It was In a similar range to my previous leak but obviously much more water had come in this time to make me rule out my brand new, superb AWD windows because it just can't possibly be the new windows?I called A home inspector (that Encore recommended and conveniently missed their caulking mishap amuse he never climbed out to look at the base level caulking) and he found nothing but a theory on my stone wall missing a couple weaping holes which other masons stated cannot cause that much moisture to get in. So I called my roofer and he inspected his job again as he did in the past and found no punctures in the roof but did notice what you will see in my attached photos which those same holes lead directly to the water damaged main floor dry wall. Coicidence? Highly unlikely. Encore's response, "we have foam behind it" My rebuttal "That foam can absorb 100% of the water (and 50mm of rain that day)? "well no, its the foam Window Wise requires" What about the seams where the vinyl connects, why can I put a knife between it, should it not be welded" Well it should be sealed better" Next day after another inspection I hear " the foam likely expanded and caused the caulking to crack, it happens, we will re caulk it" But what about the water damage, will you cover the damages "That's not 100% definitive it was from our windows, and our warranty doesn't cover post damage, we just cover repairing the windows". Complete cop out! And their solution is the same as the other company I dealt with before, bring a caulking guy with $3 worth of caulking to seal a defective product they supplied me". Absolute bs. Drywall and labour probably would cost a couple hundred dollars to repair Encore for what is 95% definitive you guys botched when I paid you $12k! Blame it on a freak of nature, whatever it is, it was your caulk, your foam and your job. But now it is my job to fix it....service and ownership at its finest. So if you ask me by reading this review, keep looking. Maybe you will get lucky or your job is more simple as I had large 100" wide windows but it just reiterates the painful reality that this window industry needs some severe regulatory changes to make these companies and installers more accountable for their work and quality be measurable so you don't have gaps in your vinyl or people who can just point fingers to another part of your house and say it must not be the part I worked on! ______________________________________________________ Initial Review Post purchase In one of the worst regulated industries in the world today I am glad I was able to find this company. I had to learn the hard way by being duped by one installation company already and left with two large windows letting water into my house. Second time around I did my homework, met with a few Window Wise certified installation companies and looked for a high quality manufacturer they use and ended up picking the slightly cheaper company over Encore choosing a slight downgrade in quality to save some $$. That company called me 4 weeks post contract to tell me they cannot make the windows after all for the quoted price and asked for more money! Didn't take me long to 'ickup the phone and call Encore back, the company that I initially felt the most comfortable and confident from all my meetings to start. The team fulfilled their promises and delivered from start to finish by thoroughly answering all my questions (and I had ALOT of questions) in providing EnergyStar ratings I requested, vinyl chamber design functionality etc and installation was a flawless two day job where they even went above and beyond and help me fix some minor deficiencies while they were at my house already with my front door and took some damaged screens I had for other windows back to their place to repair and brought back afterwards, that says a lot! I can't say enough about the time and effort they took and in the end well worth the cost for the quality windows and exemplary service provided.

    Answer from pro:

This review is very unfortunate and not completely accurate; The drywall damage is on the ceiling of the living room, not below or close to any of the windows. A registered home inspector used a moisture meter to detect the water path and it revealed that the new windows were not the source of the water leak. No moisture was detected around the windows. Despite this we are still willing to help the homeowner find the exact source of his leak but he is refusing our help. We believe this review should be removed as the inspector determined that the new windows are not the cause of the leak and the homeowner has no evidence to prove otherwise. Thank you for the glowing review!!! Yes this job had an interesting journey, more importantly it ended well. Once again thank you for recognizing our efforts.

    Replaced WIndows

Dave was the salesperson we dealt with. Very knowledgeable with the window products he sells. Installation was impeccable. The job was done in the time period they promised. The area was kept tidy as possible while working. We had all the windows re-insulated and new trim installed. We are very pleased with the workmanship. We shopped around and are glad we decided to go with Encore.

    Window replacement

Encore home improvements replaced five windows in my home last December. I highly recommend this company and will use their services in future. The entire project, from price quote to installation was accurate and efficient. Customer service was excellent, professional and friendly. Deciding on a reputable and honest company to replace my windows was a bit frustrating until I visited Encore. I dropped by their showroom, discussed my needs and the nest day David came to my home to measure the windows. I received an estimate promptly and placed my order. The windows were ready when due and installed the following week, as scheduled. The gentlemen that installed them were on time and worked efficiently; they did a great job. The interior framing was done perfectly, with great attention to detail. I was impressed by how neat they were and how clean the working areas were left at the end of the day.

    New front entry door installation.

I found working with Encore to be a quality experience overall. They were responsive to my initial call and promptly scheduled an appointment to review and discuss our projects. Dave, my initial point of contact, was very professional and took time to discuss options and ask/answer questions. I enjoyed my interactions with Dave more than those I'd had with 3 other window/door contractors who were less forthcoming with their time and receptive to our questions. We actually did not go forward with the project right away due to timing (arrival of a baby), but almost a year later I reached back out to Dave and he quickly remembered us and we got back up to speed quickly. We decided to go forward with a new Fiberglass entry door from Mastergrain and placed our order in late November, 2016. The installer came by once the order was confirmed to take measurements and he was on time and professional. The only issue we encountered was that arrival of the door took longer than anticipated. While we expected it to take 8-10 weeks, it was closer to 3 full months for delivery. With the Holidays mixed in a delay was not unexpected but this was a little longer than even that would have suggested. To his credit, Dave was responsive as we waited and offered updates as he could. Once the door was ready, we were able to schedule delivery and installation for the very next day, which was great. The installers were on time, extremely friendly and professional. They were respectful of our home and did a wonderful job on the installation. Other than a caulking smell, which couldn't be avoided, there was virtually no evidence the guys had even been there. They were very clean. The door is gorgeous and the price was competitive, if not better than, all of the contractors with whom we'd met. I would strongly recommend working with Encore Home Improvement.

    Basement Windows

We have been dealing w/ Encore Home Improvements since the late nineties. Recently, we moved further north. To our surprise, they were willing to come and give us a quote. Dave explained how best to place the new windows and w/ the perfect design. George was our installer from the very beginning and we were very glad to have him come on board once again. We will have them back again to tackle the ground floor windows in the near future.

It's a great joy having customers come back to us even after they moved. Thank you very much for the review

New Doors (Windows done some 15 years ago)

We had Encore replace every single window in our house, and have absolutely zero complaints some 15 years later. Now in 2017, we just replaced both front and side doors. As an engineer on two of the "Homes on Homes" shows, I would definitely recommend Encore for the quality of the installation, quality of the product, tidiness of the installation crew and the knowledgeable staff. We just got an encore from Encore! Thanks Dave and George.

    Window replacement

With very capable advice from Dave Rosolen, we replaced the 35 year old window in our living room to provide more airflow. The installation by George and John was carried out professionally and finishing detail is amazing. The job site was left sparkling and they even replaced some worn out rollers on a troublesome sliding door. This latest project was an "encore" with Encore, as we successfully replaced front and side doors and storms a few years ago. Jobs well done Encore! Cathy East York

    A profound disappointment

It took me a long time to decide to write this, but as I sit in my office next to a window that inadequately keeps the cold air out, and after countless (literally more than I can count) calls to my salesperson, Dave (who has admittedly been responsive, if not helpful, each time), I feel this negative review needs to be left, along with an explanation. Encore was brought to my attention through a contractor I trust, and the initial quote and sales process was superb. Dave walked through the house, sent people to measure the windows (seven in all) and scheduled the work promptly. The windows themselves appeared to be of extremely high quality and I was happy with the decisions. But problems started with the installers themselves who, because they wanted to get it done in a single day, cut corners that led to dozens of hours of followup and additional issues. Not only was a profound mess left inside my house, with my walls not just scuffed but scratched from various boxes and other sharp objects careless dragged across them, but the windows themselves were not adequately caulked, leading to leaks inside the house causing damage. The installers also failed to properly install a door, leading to even more leaks. Throughout all this, Dave has been responsive and has put up with a lot. I do appreciate that. But the install was so bad, and the problems so pervasive, that unless the company compensates me for my trouble, or pays for installation, I will stand by my lack of a recommendation. I am happy to chat with anyone who wants to use this company beforehand, as people need to understand what they're getting themselves into.

Daniel it took us a long time to write a response as your review score has left us dumbfounded. You acknowledge in your review that we did follow up and address all your concerns as they arose. We tested the windows, we had them inspected by a Window Wise engineer. We re-caulk the whole front of the house when there was a possible deficiency. The door issue was attributed to a design weakness associated with outswing doors which was rectified. You also acknowledge that some of the issues stemmed from a deficiency in your roof. Our communication has been open and has been always followed up with action. Our last visit was on December 21st from an email we received the same day about a possible air leakage in your living room window; we used a candle (simple and effective) and determined the cold air you felt was due to convection which is prevalent when the glass area is large in relation to the size of the wall it occupies. We offered a plan and solutions and the response we received was this review. Daniel our line of communication is open if you wish to discuss this further.
