    Air Conditioner repair

    These guys were great!!!!! Laird and Son sent Brian to check out our AC. He diagnosed, and then gave us an estimate of about $1600 to fix it and to move the AC to a better place. After he moved the unit, he tested a little further, and realized that the problem was not the fan motor, but only the capacitor. It was a savings of several hundred dollars. Brian came at the appointed time. He did the work with a smile on his face. We almost invited him for dinner.

    Air Conditioning Died on Super Hot Day

    Our air conditioner konked out on a gruelling hot day. Worried if kids and pets could handle it. Called Laird and Son and repair guy was over within 30 mins (he was in neighbourhood and hustled over after his last job). He inspected air conditioner and furnace and discovered an animal had chewed thru an electric cord beneath our deck. He crawled under, in a cramped space on a hot day and had it back up within 30-45 mins. Saved our skin!

    Ductless A/C

    I met Ron from Laird & Son (L&S) first to explain what I needed; he was knowledgeable and accommodating of my work schedule... and he scheduled the work within a week, which I really appreciated given the hot weather we have been having! Ryan and Corrado came to do the work and they were fabulous. Despite the heat, they worked hard and efficiently to get my A/C installed right away. They were polite, knowledgeable, and hard working. They answered all my questions and made the experience really enjoyable. Thank you L&S!! I am thrilled to finally have A/C!!

    AC install

    I recognize that this negative review is the exception, but we were not happy with the level of service provided for our AC install. Overall, they are responsive and I think they do care, however, they did not conduct a proper assessment of our duct system and we are not able to get proper cooling in our house. They seemed to be in too much of a rush to install the unit and leave. I have reached out to them in hopes that can remedy the situation

    Repair

    I have a small gas leak and my gas has been turned off. I have had trouble getting people to even phone me back. Amber returned my call very promptly and had a repairman at my house within 3 hours. She was concerned that he come quickly as it is Friday and if they couldn't repair today she wanted options! Brian showed up early and waited for me. Sure enough- it can't be fixed today but two people are coming to my house tomorrow morning! he orchestrated the whole thing with Amber. Didn't leave til it was set. I actually feel like they cared which is SO rare. Brian was so lovely I wanted to sit down and have a coffee with him. Great experience so far!

    Exceptional Service!! Honest and Knowledgeable!

    Amazing! We've relied on Laird and Son for years and they have always exceeded expectations. We live in an old North Toronto home and they've been responsible for brilliantly updating our air conditioning and, this past winter, our "thousand-year-old" boiler. Both services now work like a charm! Their staff is wonderful - efficient, knowledgeable and really respectful. And today, with Sam, was no exception. I called the office to see if they could help me with a little job of moving an outdoor gas line over a bit to accommodate a new bbq. Well, Sam came over and gave me an early Mother's Day present by coming up with a wonderful solution that saved us a ton of money and aggravation. These guys NEVER sell you what you don't need. Their honesty and expertise is a unique combination in this city. Thank you Sam, thank you Noah, thank you EVERYONE at Laird and Son!

    New furnace and more

    After getting the company name from a co-worker, we included Laird & Son as one of the 4 HVAC companies to give us a quote on a new furnace. This was the only company to offer (affordable) suggestions as to ways we could improve our heating and basement renovation. They offered to move the furnace slightly, at a minimal cost, to allow for more space for laundry. When we later increased the scope of work to include moving all the duct work the cost increase was very reasonable. Installation Manager, Ross, was great at keeping us in the loop and communicating via email (which we had stated we prefer). The duct work was really really well done - so happy with it (sad to be covering it up in a bulkhead). We were also very thankful to the team (including Dave) who were doing the installation that they stayed late to ensure our heat got on when we requested. It was a great experience working with this company - we will be looking into a future service agreement with them as well.

    new furnace

    Rapaired a poorly installed furnace put in by another company 3 years ago when we did renovations. Navien all in one system which some other companies wouldn't even look at to service. Kim at the head office was amazing she understood our frustration with the system and made it a priority to get it resolved. Our hot water in the system failed and we were only getting a 2 minute shower. Their team came on Thursday and Friday to trouble shoot communicating back and forth with Navien head office. They had to turn our whole system off because it was unsafe. No heat so they provided us with electric heaters and got approval from Navien to provide us with a new furnace under the warranty and the team came back on Sunday because we had no heat or hot water. They honored the price they gave us to fix the unit even though it was a full new install and not an easy job. They arrived just after 9 a.m. and worked until 4. The happy result is everything is working again. We have confidence that this team actually knows what they are doing. They had no issue with installing a Navien system. We feel that they were fair in pricing and very professional throughout. It is nice to finally deal with a company that we feel will stand by their work and have an excellent reputation for a reason.

    Mid-efficiency Boiler

    I was very pleased with the whole installation process of the mid-efficiency boiler. Ryan and Chris arrived on time and were so pleasant. They made sure that the floors and carpets were protected and were very neat with all the supplies and tools that were needed for the job. I appreciated that I was welcomed each time I went to check on progess. No questions were too trivial to ask. Ryan was very knowledgeable and clear with all his explanations. Ryan even took time, once the boiler installation was done, to explain how the new boiler functioned...so much more efficiently! I would highly recommend Laird & Son.

    Don't bother giving good money to bad technicians.

    Called Laird & Sons to a service our furnace. They charged us $400 for 30 mins of work. They changed a solenoid part that cost $150. Soon after they left we had water leaking all over our basement. We called to notify them of the issue and the tech called us back to say it wasn't an issue and to just tap the pump. Water continued to leak and we called again. This time they were rude and arrogant telling us we need to replace more parts at an additional cost of $300 without diagnosing the problem. Not happy with their service or attitude. Don't bother giving good money to bad technicians.

    We were not able to respond to this customer, as they would not let us rectify an issue that was happening. We do always have a 30 day gaurantee on all of our repairs and parts. It's unfortunate there was a misunderstanding with this customer. We value all customers.
