New humidifier installation and furnace maintenance

Bryan is straight up, polite, and efficient. He did a nice job on my humidifier installation, explained it's operation well, and seemed to have my best interests in mind. I feel I can trust work by Laird & Son because of staff like Bryan. Thanks, George Teichman

New furnace New Air conditioner and ongoing maintenance

We switched to Laird and Sons five years ago for our heating and air conditioning needs...Their prices are competitive, never the least expensive, but their customer service and quality of workmanship leaves nothing to be desired

Supply and Install New Furnace and A/C and Duct Cleaning

Furnace and A/C:Sales rep Dave Bissonnet provided helpfull suggestions on what should be addressed in replacing the equipment and addressed only what was needed to to keep costs down as much as possible. He addressed my concerns and questions in a professional manner. An issue with the fit of a new air filter element into the existing container was handled to my satisfaction. The price was not the lowest, but not the highest either, so my selectction was based on company past experiece. The installation was completed in one day and the work arerea was cleaned up by the installers after work was completed . Duct Cleaning: Ryan did an excellent job in cleaning the ducts before the furnace installation, he hit all the right areas.

    Emergency Boiler Repair

We had spent 48 hours being held hostage by another heating company (Mckinnon) - see separate review. Their cost to solve the problem was $9000. After having the problem fixed by someone else, they returned to our house and disconnected our gas at the street in -15C weather. Luckily for us I then found Laird and Son. After calling Laird and Son, there was a technician at my door in 20 minutes. He was courteous and helpful and made us feel comfortable from the moment he walked in the door. He inspected the repair, turned the gas back on and ran several computerized tests before certifying everything as safe. It took him less than an hour and the total cost was $150. He then helped with a couple of small adjustments for which he did not charge. Wow. What a difference. I would actually rate Laird and Son at "11" for customer service above and beyond reasonable expectation.

    Gas furnace repair

The furnace in our store/apt. stopped working during the night before Christmas day. Our tenants called us saying there was no heat. We inspected the furnace and could not re-start it. So we called Laird and Son. By 2:30 pm on Christmas day, they returned our call and met us at the property half an hour later. The furnace needed a new ignitor. Miraculously they had one, the right model and all on the truck! The fee for the service call and installation was a reasonable $150 - even on Christmas day. And the part about $300. The heat was back on, our tenants happy, and no frozen pipes. We were thrilled.

    New Furnace and Ducting

We recently bought and gutted an 80 year old home in Danforth and Pape area. We completed all of the construction without realizing some of the deficiencies. We called about 9 HVAC contracters, and received about 7 quotes. I had already decided on another contractor however I had already booked Ron Potter from Laird to come in and quote the job. Not expecting much as I was under the impression that a large company would provide an outrageous quote. We had received several quotes that were out of this world! Some would not even quote the job because it was more labour intensive than they would have liked. It seems that there is more money selling furnaces than installing ductwork. Ron came in and looked over the whole job, provided a written quote on the spot, provided the best financing options, and came in over 1000$ less expensive than the next best quote. True to their word, Laird came in 1 week ahead of the job start, and measured up all of the ducts and areas affected. They showed up on day 1 and completed the job on time and on quote. It took three days, and we could not be happier. Our home is comfortable, and damage was minimal. I was actually expecting much more damage as they were installing all new ductwork in a finished home. All of the other contractors were pushing larger furnaces, and Ron was the only one that fit the equipment to the job. When I expressed some uneasiness with the size of the furnace, Ron assured me that it was adequate, and that if it wasn't, he would replace with a bigger one no charge. This was not necessary. This was a large purchase and there are many choices, but LAird surpassed our expectations on every front. What you don't realize when choosing a contractor are some of the following. Laird was respectful of our home (Drop cloths, mess, cleanup etc), they have staff installers that value their jobs and the company reputation. They use a licensed contractor for the chimney liner (which most won't even tell you you need until after you sign on the dotted line) which means that they are bonded and insured to be on your roof. They have 24 hour service and support, just try and call your HVAC contractor in the middle of the night and see if they answer! They have a furnace service plan, and have been in business for longer than I have been alive. We were ecstatic with the work we received, and would not hesitate to use and recommend Laird to anyone looking for a contractor. I also had an opportunity to visit their offices, and meet some of the other staff when delivering a cheque, and was treated with respect and courtesy. Highly recommended!

    Duct Cleaning

Ryan showed up early to clean our ducts. He was extremely friendly and took the time to explain what was being done as well as cleaned our filters, just to be helpful! Will definitely use Laird again, they are coming to clean the furnace next week!

duct cleaning, furnace replacement, chimney lining

The sales representative, ductwork cleaner and furnace installers were all personable, knowledgeable and efficient. They were pleasant and courteous with me and willing to answer any questions. They worked quietly and quickly and spoke to each other respectfully. They speak highly of the company they work for too, which, sadly, is rare these days. Also no mess left behind for me to clean up! All in all, a very pleasant experience from beginning to end.

    Oil-to-Gas Boiler Installation

Laird & Son did a great job from start-to-finish with this oil-to-gas boiler conversion. They removed the 20+ year old oil tank which freed up about 20 square feet of space. They also left the furnace room cleaner than it was before they started. Well done!

    Duct cleaning service

Ryan from Laird & Sons recently cleaned the ducts at our home. Ryan was on time, courteous, and knowledgeable. Initially the job was moving quickly throughout the top floors, however required extra time to ensure the our 'interesting' duct structure would be cleaned appropriately. Ryan explained what needed to be done and why, (and showed how previous duct cleaners didn't do the extra work) - required extra hookups for the vacuum to multiple supply lines. Anyways, Ryan could have done the job quickly and moved on - and I wouldn't have been the wiser. Instead, he did the job correctly and thoroughly.
