    Hardwood Floor Refinishing Project

Jose and Juan did an OUTSTANDING job in the last 3 days sanding and staining and refinishing our oak hardwood floors. They did not stop working, (at all) and were polite and considerate. They spent more time sanding and buffing than another team I had 6 years ago…from another firm… and my wife and I saw the result of that extra time… the look is much, much nicer and smoother and way more professional. We went with satin this time so it is not too glossy. We are having them back in May to do two other adjoining rooms, about 300 sq ft, and match the colour – golden brown so it flows We would recommend them in a second.

    Hardwood floor buff and recoat

I needed a lot of hardwood floors to be rebuffed just before moving in. Timing was the essence and I needed a crew that can do the job right the first time. Scott handled all the e-mail communication promptly and Keen did all the work site inspection on time. Since the floors have some damages, Keen had to do some minor repairs as he prepped them to be buffed and re-coated. Keen handled all the surprises professionally. After the move, some of the smell of the oil-based polyurethane remained (Keen did warn me). I called and got very useful tips to airing out the smell quickly. Thank you for all the work and very helpful service.

    Living room floor refinishing

I called NewRidge in late September 2015 to refinish the living room floor. Duc Vu, from Pro Hardwood Niagara, and his crew actually did the job. I'm very happy with the results: they did a great job of matching the upstairs, and were able to fit in this job on short notice. The only warning is that when folks talk about fumes, take them seriously - you must be able to air out the house, for days, after this is done. Worth it - belated thanks!

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Jan for taking the time to write a review and provide our new and existing clients some advice on what to look for when having there floors refinished. Please note to everyone reading Duc used a professional grade oil base urethane product on Jan's floors and there will be a very pungent odour. Depending on the type of house and products used (i.e. water or oil base poly urethane, penetrating oils, or the odour and air out time will vary). Thanks again Jan. Please keep us in mind for another future project and please pass our name along to friends and family if they are looking to update there hardwood floors and/or stairs. Thanks again. Regards, Scott

New and refinished floors throughout a 4000sq.ft. home

This is the second time I have used NewRidge Refinishing Group. This first time Gabor and his team refinished our floors on 2 levels and did an amazing job! The second job 4 years later was far more complex. We needed to match old floors and replacing others making each level of new and old look the same. The workmanship was excellent with no visible difference from old floors, to new floors, refinished floors and replaced floors. I knew this was a job for only the best, and the best quality was received. The finished job spectacular and great value the the workmanship and professionalism received. Thank you NewRidge, Gabor and the team!

    Hardwood Floor Refinishing Services

We hired Newridge Refinishing to refurbish the hardwood floors in our 125 year old heritage home. From our first meeting with Gabor, we were impressed with his professionalism, expertise and helpfulness. He provided us with valuable information and suggestions which made the process easy. The work was completed while we were away on vacation and we are thrilled with the results. Our floors now look brand new and the colour Gabor helped us select looks fabulous! Our only regret is that we didn't do it 5 years ago.

    New Floor Install

Worked with Sebastian and Scott on my flooring install project. Scott was quite helpful in answering some of the initial questions and providing quotes for various permutations of my project and Sebastian was the person I dealt with who did the work. Overall, I was very satisfied with my total experience and final result. Floors look beautiful and installation was neat, relatively tidy and well executed. I would give a 10 for workmanship (Sebastian and his crew) and an 8 for overall project management, to end up with my 9 rating. I would recommend them to friends and family and use them again, but I couldn't give them a perfect score for the following reasons as each are individually small and nitpicky, but additively I had to dock a point for my overall experience. 1) Project Management wasn't excellent - it was just good. We gave Sebastian and Scott our project timeline in early December and that we wanted the floors sourced and installed within a 3 week window and were told that could be easily accomplished. Sebastian ran into problems sourcing the matching wood (a Mirage hardwood) to an existing hallway, but due to the holiday break (apparently, most major wood suppliers shutdown for 2 weeks during the holidays) we could not purchase the wood in a timely fashion to meet our project deadline. Unfortunate, but not a deal breaker, as Sebastian and myself worked on an alternative plan, that required tearing up the existing hallway of hardwood and replacing it with a new different hardwood. Once completed, I felt it looks better than the original plan as there's no breaks in the wood at the door frames between rooms, but there was a few days of unneeded stress there. 2) Sebastian and his crew were super tidy in the main areas (wiping and tidying after work), but forgot to clean out 2 closets where there were hardwood nails and a sizeable amount of sawdust on the upper shelf. Not a big deal in my mind, just required some wiping and vaccuming on our part. 3) Out of the 100's of boards on the perimeter of the rooms, there's 3 or 4 boards if you look vertically down from the wall (i.e. looking down, parallel to the wall), are about 1-2mm short (i.e. there's a tiny tiny gap visible between floor and baseboard). Barely noticeable, and TRUELY nitpicky, but I noticed (and for any sane person, it's so small, it's DEFINITELY not worth re-doing). You could also blame it on the fact that our house is an older Toronto home - so the walls aren't perfectly square. Okay, enough of me being nitpicky, but wanted to give a fair and objective evaluation. Don't get me wrong, I love, and I stress, LOVE the final work product - I want to re-iterate that I think Sebastian and crew did a great job! They even gave us some tips on how to blend and caulk the baseboards properly, and threw in some free DAP! But if you want perfection, and if I were to do this again, I would say you would need to have a more hands on-approach in the planning process to ensure perfection (i.e. sourcing materials yourself). Sebastian and his crew works hard, fast, and were very efficient and did the job itself very very well! So don't let my nitpickyness deter you from giving them a call!

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Danny for your detailed and honest feedback. We completely understand your point of view and are always striving to get better. Since we are a service company sourcing pre-finished wood material that matches existing is not something we normally offer or guarantee because we are not a showroom retailer. Sebastian offered as an additional courtesy but we'll definitely take your suggestions into future consideration as the business is always evolving. It was a pleasure for both Sebastian, myself and his crew to work with you. We appreciate the feedback and advise for all our new prospective clients to read. Please keep us in mind for any future projects and let your friends and family know if they are looking to update there hardwood floors and/or stairs. Thanks again. Regards, Scott

    Hardwood Floor Refinishing

We decided to have our old oak hardwood floors refinished this past fall. The quote process and booking was with NewRidge was easy and pricing was fare. They communicated the plan with us in advance and answered all our questions/concerns. They were professional and arrived on time as scheduled. We did not know exactly what colour we wanted the stain so Sebastien was very helpful showing us some options on our actual floor and made us feel confident in our decision. We vacated the house while they did the work (*absolute must) and they were on time doing 3 floors (~ 800 sq ft) in four days including sanding, stain and 2 clear coats. House stunk afterwards and I recommend staying out for several days after at least to air it out. My advice is if your are considering redoing your floors, do it! We love our new floors and we we did it 5 years ago. Downsides are it is a lot of work to move all of your stuff out of the rooms they are working and it is messy! Plan on a day in advance to move everything out of where they are working. As well, several days after to clean up dust (walls need to be vacuumed, washed and windows vacuumed, etc.) before anyhting can be moved back in. As well, all of the trim was damaged as expected my sanders and stains and it needed to be touched up. If you aren't handy or willing to do the cleaning/panting I would suggest to NewRidge to offer this VIP service for an extra charge. Overall, very happy customer and I would recommend this company and refinishing old floors in general.

    Flawless from beginning to end

Significant renovations began the day after we moved into our 170-year-old home on Lake Ontario this fall. High on our list of To Dos was restoration of the original wide plank heart pine floors in the principal rooms, including in the dining room where newer hardwood had been laid on top. Our search for a specialist with extensive experience with and regard for historic properties led us to NewRidge. Great communication from the beginning: they were responsive to our questions and concerns and a comprehensive quote was delivered quickly. They did test strips to help us choose the floor colour, which we ultimately decided to change from orangey gold to a gorgeous grey. Having floors refinished is necessarily one of the most disruptive reno projects because of the need to remove all furniture and stay off the floors for hours at a time during each of the several stages. We only did the main floor in this phase 1 and were living in the house throughout construction. Duc worked cooperatively with our other trades to coordinate and was considerate in scheduling his visits to minimize our required absences. Every time I was offsite and texted him a question, Duc would respond literally within seconds. That he and his team are also great guys was a bonus. The floors are beautiful. Duc came back Christmas week to do the finishing touch - install custom-made and stained reducer strips between the kitchen tile and the dining room hardwood. When it's time for Phase 2 - the upstairs floors - we'll be calling NewRidge again.

Replace Laminate floors and door/window casings

Patrick and John did a very nice job on the floors and trim. Patrick even helped me design the door and window casings I wanted and had the MDF custom cut for me. They were also very helpful in recommending where to buy the material to get the best value. Thanks. I'll definitely use you guys again!

Sanding and refinishing a wooden floor

A contractor looked at the worn, water-stained old wooden floors in the third floor apartment at our house and told us to rip them up and replace them. NewRidge gave us a reasonable quote, came promptly, cleaned and treated the old wood, worked quickly and efficiently and left us with gleaming floors that are a pleasure to look at. I can't recommend them highly enough.
