Hardwood Floor repair, color change & refinish

Contacted Andre to get a quote as we wanted to change the color of our existing hardwood floor in a 1500 square foot condo as we were doing a complete gut & full renovations. Every other floor company we spoke to said we had to remove the old floor and replace it. Andre looked at the floor and said " do not remove this beautiful floor, I can repair it." After demolition of the condo & removal & replacement of walls, Andre arrive to insert new hardwood boards. He matched the floor perfectly. Sanded the entire condo & then stained the floors with our new color. Andre saved us about $5000.00 by keeping the old floor which was only 4 years old. I would recommend Andre & NewRidge without hesitation for all your flooring needs.

    Stair refacing

From our initial contact for measuring and quote, to the completed staircase and railing it was extremely easy to work with the very professional NewRidge Refinishing Group. The team led by Keen made us feel confident and comfortable with our choices. Our staircase/railings look fantastic and are exactly how we imagined it to be. Rather than try to hide our stairs we wanted to make them a showcase feature in our home. Your experience in designing customized stairs and your ability to communicate the various design options with us was invaluable. The attention to detail and consideration for our budget, made all the difference and produced a result that we really love. I would recommend NewRidge Refinishing Group to anybody requiring that home showcase project.

    Hardwood Floor Refinishing Service

We recently dealt with Scott and had Keen and his team refinish our dated and badly damaged hardwood floors on the main floor of our house. The floors were stripped right down to the bare wood through extensive sanding and then re-stained to their original colour. In the end, the floors were absolutely beautiful and exactly what we wanted. We found both Scott and Keen professional and courteous and attentive to our requests. Keen kept us informed as the progress and the job was completed on schedule without any issues or delays. I wouldn't hesitate to contact Scott or Keen should I have any future refinishing jobs.

    Wood floor refinishing + staircase

Contractor removed all carpets and refinished the hard wood floors. The carpet lining was often stuck to the floor but the contractor managed to remove it without damaging the wood. The floors look just like new. The stairs and bannister were also nicely done. The contractor forgot to insert one foot on a railing but will come back to complete the job.

    Floor, stairs and railing refinishing

Scott, Andre and Brian of NewRidgeRefinishing were fantastic to work with from quote to final payment. They were responsive to my endless questions and concerns. They were flexible where possible when I needed to rearrange schedule. They communicated their plans and issues to me on a timely basis. They took pride in their work as well as the condition of my house. They did not nickel and dime me. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

    Hardwood Installation

Working with NewRidge was not bad but far from perfect. We started out booking an appointment through Scott to take measurements and we were impressed with how prompt he was communicating by email. Keen came by to do the actual measurements and he was pretty easy going but professional. After talking to a few different flooring companies we found NewRidge to be competitive in price and they had great reviews. Issues started coming up soon after the work started. On the day we were supposed to start, Keen did not think I would be able to reserve a parking spot for him to place a waste bin across from our townhouse. I had assured him that he would get a space the next day as he originally requested. But because he didn’t believe me, he wanted to leave and start work the next day. It didn’t make a lot of sense to me because it was agreed that the bin would come the second day so he knew he wouldn’t have a bin on the first day. I was getting pretty anxious about it since I had taken time from work to meet him and they had originally agreed to start that day. After seeing that I was getting annoyed Keen and his brother started working. He never booked a bin, even though a spot was reserved for him the next day like I said, so there was really no reason for him to delay starting. It became more difficult communicating too. Whenever we had questions or requests, Scott would defer to Keen. It was a bit frustrating because Keen was not as responsive as Scott. We were originally given an estimate of 2 weeks to finish but it ended up being closer to 4. There were also days when I would come home and it looked like not much was done at all. When they were installing baseboards, Keen texted us that they found some water damage on the drywall underneath our patio door. We told them to leave that area since we planned to replace the drywall that weekend, but there were still other areas that needed baseboard installation. When we came home it looked like they had just stopped at that wall and left, even though we got the text early on in the day. On top of all that, there were some areas where the baseboard installation was sloppy. Nails were sticking out and bent, and there was one piece that was crooked. I’m sure if we raised the issue, they would correct it but after so many weeks with contractors in our home, we just wanted to have our place to ourselves again. There were also other minor annoyances as well. When my husband had planned to patch up some holes, he couldn’t find his putty knife. After searching for a while, we found it with the contractor’s tools, covered in glue. We had to wash it off ourselves and we had told them that we didn’t mind if they use our tools, but to leave them in the same condition and the same place they were found. We also found one of our pens from a hotel we stayed at all scratched up and broken. The pen itself wasn’t worth much, but we didn’t have any pens laying around. This meant they more than likely went into our closet and found it in one of our boxes. Near the end we texted Keen a few times about how to proceed and we weren’t getting a response from him. We decided to send an email with directions and when we still didn’t get a response we forwarded it to Scott to make sure Keen got the email. Keen finally called and seemed irritated that we were contacting him. We were also dismayed to find that he didn’t follow the directions we set out in our email. We were just happy to finally be done. The work was ok, but we felt it could’ve gone a lot better.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Mei, I'm a little surprised to see a review like this a month after the job was done with no further contact either myself or Keen. Especially since your husband has indicated he was happy with the work and only needed some small touch-ups done which was not an issue at all. Let's review the items discussed in the review: 1) Timing: You had to move furniture multiple times plus we told you we had a job booked in between because it would hold us up if we waited for the furniture moving to commence 2) Small Annoyances not related to the quality of work: Fair enough, I will let Keen know about this but pretty much most clients find him and his team very courteous and respectful of there time and property. Either way something we can always improve on 3) The quality of work itself: Your husband indicated the work was done very well and just wanted some touch-ups done. This was taken care of and confirmed completed. 4) Baseboards seem to be the main/only concern: From my understanding these issues were resolved if not this should have been brought up with me directly which it was not. This was a major floor installation project and it seems the only complaint is in regards to baseboard which is a very minor part of the project. We did recommend spending additional money on quarter round to reduce the gaps but the client did not want to do this. Again, I will bring this up with Keen as we always strive to leave jobs 100% complete with a smile on our customers faces. I'm not sure why a month later you decide to publicly rant about your unhappiness without contacting myself before it was completed to express your concerns. If you have any further concerns to discuss feel free to contact me directly so we can try and rectify them as we are here to help and make this process smooth and easy for you. Warmest Regards, Scott

Removal of original hardwood and carpet. Sanding and staining of railing and steps

Lining up the job with Scott was great. He was very responsive to our requests and met our timeline! Moving into our new home it only needed a few touches. Starting on the first morning to finishing up ahead of schedule, Sebastian and his team were fantastic. Sebastian and his team were prompt, tidy and did a fantastic job. We would absolutely have these guys back! The house was kept tidy allowing us to have other projects going on at the same time. We are so pleased with the way things have turned out we are already looking to have them back for another project.

Refinished old wooden floors on main and second level

Just bought an old Edwardian square in Hamilton and the previous owner left the floors in poor condition. Paint, scratches and blackened pee stains (from numerous cats and dogs) left the floors needing a lot of TLC. Duke did an amazing job sanding all of the floors, replacing the blackened wood, and adding three coats of high gloss polyurethane. The floors look amazing! I still can't believe they are the same floors! Definitely would recommend this company (and Duke!) to anyone. Now I need to save up to have my wooden staircase refinished :)

We found Scott in the office responsive to questions and Sebastian and his crew efficient, timely, prompt, polite, helpful with extra protection from dust, accurate in describing what we could expect during work. We were very pleased with end results.

Refinishing hardwood floor in living/dining rooms and installing cork flooring in bedrooms

I contacted Newridge and received an immediate response from Scott, answering all my questions and outlining the process they follow. Scott/Newridge was very respectful of my time frame for completion...I needed a little extra time to have the 3 rooms cleared out. Sebastian and his crew arrived promptly at the identified time and began working immediately. There was very little dust from the sanding of the hardwood. Sebastian applied a small amount of stain and consulted with me to make sure I was happy with the colour - I was ecstatic! The two finishing coats were applied the following day. Paul did a wonderful job of installing the cork flooring in the bedrooms - his talent and workmanship is very evident. Quarter round was installed as well, and Sebastian even filled in the little nail holes! The whole job was completed in just 2 days - I am extremely pleased with the result and very impressed with the professionalism, workmanship and personalized service I received from everyone at Newridge. Thank you Scott, Sebastian (and your helper!) and Paul. Would I recommend them to family and friends? I already have!
