This past summer, I hired Servisol to renovate our second floor bathroom and to do a few other repairs, and both my husband and I are very glad I did.
Bruce Maisels was very careful at every step of the planning stage – often calling his electrician or his plumber with detailed questions - and he always made sure to explain exactly what making certain changes would involve, suggesting better alternatives whenever possible.
The bathroom renovation raised an unexpected problem that Bruce and his crew tackled with great care and competence. It turned out that, due to previous badly done work in the bathroom, the structural integrity of the joists supporting the floor had been compromised, resulting in a serious safety issue. Very responsibly, Bruce suggested that we consulted an engineer, who eventually recommended that the ceiling in the corresponding powder room on the first floor be lowered in order to build a ‘new floor’ underneath the existing one. Of course, at that point we had to face renovating not one bathroom, but two, and higher expenses than originally expected. In the end, however, the extra cost was quite reasonable.
All throughout, Servisol’s workmen showed great skill and attention to detail. I was impressed with the way Richard single-handedly completed the structural work. He also did a great job with the tiling and the carpentry required to take apart and put together again original window frames and doors. Marcel did an excellent job of plumbing wherever required, and Mohammad is a very skilled electrician (among other things, he rewired four connected pot lights in the master bedroom without cutting a single hole into the ceiling!)
In addition to providing us with high quality work at a reasonable cost, Bruce Maisels is a model of professionalism, integrity and fairness. After the old toilet was put back in place, it kept making a dripping sound suggesting that perhaps there was a crack. Although Marcel was very careful in the reinstallation, and no crack was visible upon close inspection, Bruce offered to share the cost of dealing with this new problem: we bought a new toilet and he bore the cost of installing it.
On more thing. After this round of renovations, I decided to install prefinished hardwood floors in the sunroom and the hallway – taking advantage of the fact that those areas were already empty of furniture. All of Bruce’s crews, however, were booked solid for several weeks, and so I hired a carpenter who had done a similar job at a neighbor’s house. That was a mistake. The job was so badly done that some of it has to be redone. Fortunately, I can count on Servisol to help with that and to continue with the rest of the renovations in our house – I need not and will not look elsewhere.
