    Eavestrough and Downspout Replacement

    I called 10 roofing companies, 5 returned my call and 4 came out to do an estimate, with one coming when I wasn't home. Smart Roofing was the only company who followed through from initial contact to follow-up on the quote to providing color samples and final booking of the work. Scott and his team were exceptional!! The crew arrived on time, reviewed the work to be done, dismantled the old eavestrouph with such care, so not to damage flowerbeds. My project required some creative workmanship and this team did not let me down. From the extra caulking in the corners, to spray painting the screws to match the eaves color, were just a few of the minor details done that showed me the quality of their workmanship. Scott came to check the progress of the project and to ensure I was pleased with the work being done. This crew was a pleasure to have and cleaned-up beyond my expectations. Smart Roofing has restored my faith in contractors and I would not, and have not, hesitated to recommend them to others! I shopped around and found the "best"

    Reroofing, Shingles

    As a perfectionist, I have never given a contractor 10 out of 10 before. But anything lees than 10 is unfair to Smart Roofing Inc. based on my recent, pleasant experience with them. Since last summer when high wind blew off a few shingle tabs from my roof, I was wondering if reroofing should be done. I called a number of contractors picked from their ads in late May. Jerry at Smart Roofing was the second contractor to call me back. Before his first visit, he called me to ask if it was raining in my area. Since it was, he postponed to the next day. He showed up on time and went to the roof to investigate, which the first contractor didn’t do (and then I understood why Jerry rescheduled the visit). Jerry’s enthusiasm impressed me immediately. You could see his proud in his company and their work when you heard him referring the houses they had reroofed as “my houses”. I could tell that he was not acting. He showed me the problems on my roof and I was quickly convinced to use their service without seeking more quotes. To help me choose the color, he drove me to see some of “his” houses (over a dozen just in my neighborhood alone) and left a sample collection of all available colors for me to discuss with my family. His visit was on a Friday, and the 5-member crew showed up the following Thursday to do the job. I stayed home to observe their processes from time to time. First, I gave them very high mark for their safety awareness considering the steep slope of my roof. Second, I was convinced that they did not cut corners. When a worker was nailing down a new plywood but could not reach the upper corner by a few inches from his temporary platform, he climbed up the rope (2 meters away) just to hammer in the last nail. Third, every crew member was experienced, professional, hard working and courteous. A neighbor who had experience in the roofing business later told me that he was impressed by the good job Smart Roofing crew did with my roof. The crew completed the work after it got quite dark, which made me a little concerned that some details might have been unintentionally missed. So when Jerry showed up next day, I asked him to have the crew double check the roof in daylight. But I still wrote Jerry the check for the balance. In the meanwhile we had light rain that raised a few concerns, including water dripping from eaves trough. I emailed Jerry about my concerns on Tuesday and noticed that my check was already cashed. How many times have we seen the contractors changing attitude after they received the payment? Not Smart Roofing Inc.! The entire crew showed up on Thursday evening after Jerry left a message in my voice mailbox in advance. The crew checked the shingles and found nothing wrong. But they did not stop there; instead they borrowed the garden hose to find the root cause. It turned out to be a hole in the gutter. They then used caulking to seal the hole. The crew spent a good half an hour to address all my concerns which, in hindsight, might have been pre-existing conditions. I really appreciate and value their prompt response and a fantastic job! Smart Roofing charged more than the first contractor’s quote, but I am extremely happy for my choice knowing that I have a perfect roof, and that the 10-year workmanship warranty is not on paper only!

    replaced shingles and gutters

    We needed to replace our 22 years old roof. We got a few quotes from a few companies, some we found on Homestars, some from referrals from friends. I had experience with people in the home renovation industry and I knew that no matter how careful one is, the experience can be painful. Jerry was great. Knowledgeable, not pushy, he gave me options and a good price. We also decided to replace the gutters and I am glad we did, they did a nice work on that too. All in all, everything went smooth and with no surprises. Thanks!

    Eavestrough replacement

    Our eavestroughs needed replacement, and after getting a few other quotes a friend told me about Homestars.com. I found Smart Roofing and read their stellar reviews so I chose them. Their quote was less than the others that I received. They measured up the house, met with us, and came out and did the work in the time frame we requested. They actually added more footage of eavestrough while they were doing the job in order to improve on the original plan, at no extra charge. This is a company that obviously takes pride in a job well done. They left no mess, nothing out of place, we almost didn't notice that the work had even been done. Really impressive.

    Roof Shingle Replacement

    Last summer, we started looking for a roofer to replace the asphalt shingles on our 17 year old house. We had 5 estimates done, some from the big box stores and others from roofing contractors. Through this process we had decided on what make and style of shingles we wanted, but had a tough time finding a contractor we could trust. We were ready to pick one of the five, one who we thought had a good reputation. Then we heard about Homestars on the radio. It was a good thing we checked it out, because the contractor we were about to pick had mixed reviews. So, we went back to the drawing board, and called two more contractors based on their Homestars reviews. One of them was SMART Roofing. Jerry came to our house, was very friendly, answered all of our questions and gave us a reasonable estimate considering the type of shingles we wanted. We decided to go with SMART Roofing. The roof was done last September. The crew was very professional and they took their time and did the job right. They had no problem with me going up on the roof to see what they were doing. It took them a day and a half to do the job and it looked fantastic when it was finished. They did a good job cleaning up afterwards as well. Now, fast forward to late April of this year, when we had that freak wind storm come through Mississauga. As luck would have it, a couple of capping shingles blew off the roof. I went up there to make sure there wasn't any other problems and there wasn't it seemed. I called Jerry, and in spite of the fact that weather damage isn't covered by the warranty, he said he would send someone over in a couple of days to look at it. That same afternoon someone came to the house, replaced the lost capping shingles and inspected the roof to make sure everything else was OK, and didn't charge me a dime. That's what I call service! If you are looking for a quality roofing job at a reasonable price with excellent customer service, look no further than SMART Roofing.

    Recommendations

    Thanks to Homestars we are ecstatically happy with our new roof. Smart Roofing Inc had very high reviews on Homestars and I am so glad I found this website - we could have had a very different outcome. Word of mouth has always been the best way of advertising and that is what Homestars provides.

    New Shingles and Eavestroughs

    Our shingles were curling and blowing off the roof and the eavestroughs needed replacing. I called around and ended up getting 5 quotes. We chose Smart Roofing because Mario seemed so truthful in explaining the technology and the expectations post replacement. His quote was not the lowest and not the highest. I was concerned because I had heard some horror stories about roofers. The crew from Smart Roofing Inc was fabulous, they worked quietly and neatly and answered any questions I had. Both the roofing team and the team that replaced the eavestroughs were energetic and polite. They cleaned up all the debris and ensured our garden was free of nails. Our roof looks fabulous and I highly recommend this company they are a pleasure to work with.

    Replace roofs (house /carport/shed), replace skylite, replace easthroughs

    Before we decided to have the work undertaken, we checked out many of the roofers listed on homestars. We read the reviews, selected a few firms for further review and visited the showrooms of two firms, one of which was Smart Roofing. We were interested in quality workmanship at a reasonable price, not the lowest price. Jerry and his staff did not disappoint us. The work was professional and enhanced the attractiveness of our home.

    installed new roofing removed 20 yr old shingles

    We checked out all the advertisements in the neighbourhood and then our friends recommended Smart Roofing. They did an excellent job,recommended good shingles; very clean workers cleaned up every nail and did the job on time and within the price range we were looking at.

    Roof

    We shopped around quite a bit to find the right company to do our roof. Bob stopped by our house to give us a quote and we were really impressed. One of the first things he said to us was how much he thought it would cost to do our roof. With almost all other companies there was a long and drawn out sales pitch before we even discussed the cost. We got a few other quotes but it was clear to us that Smart Roofing was the company we wanted to do business with. We signed the paperwork with Bob and we were told we would likely get our roof done the following week. Two days later the sun was shining and the roofers were knocking on our door! They did a fantastic job and left our driveway cleaner than it was in the first place. It was a pleasure doing business with Bob and I would highly recommend Smart Roofing to all of my friends and family.
