Replaced hardwood flooring on main floor of house

Great selection of flooring. Picked out a 3 1/4, White Ash, Medium Brown, Engineered floor that was supposed to be pretty durable. We got our contractors to install it and it looks nice but within a day it had scratches and nicks. I guess the surface coating is what's scratched but regardless when you look at the floor you can see the marks. Great customer service, product was in stock and readily available.

    Nice work done on Floor

I have used The Floor Shop twice now and have almost recovered the flooring in all of our family home. The first class service and honest advice has made the whole procedure quick and easy. I would recommend John and his fitters to anyone wishing to floor anything from a small shed to a large hotel.

    Replacement of defective hardwood flooring

A few years ago we had hardwood floors installed throughout our house during renovations. When the finish began lifting, we called with our dissatisfaction. Peter at the East York store dealt with us promptly and efficiently. First he sent a manufacturers rep who agreed the floor was defective and they would supply replacement wood at no cost. Then Peter came to our home, outlined our options, and offered to install the replacement floor at no cost also. The job would be very difficult since all cabinetry had been installed on top of the floors. Peter realistically explained that the job could not be done perfectly, but they would do their best. The installers came on time, and finished the job exactly when promised. But best of all, they did an utterly fantastic job--way more than we ever thought possible. They left no mess, were extremely considerate of us, checked with us every step of the way. It was a big hassle for us to move everything out and put up with the inconvenience, but we couldn't be happier with the outcome. Of course we would rather the flooring had not been defective in the first place, but given the original mistake, we can imagine no better outcome. What more could one ask?

    n0\ew floors installed

The installers were on time and they did a very professional job. Starting with the estimate and the recommendations with the baseboards and the floor registers , I am very happy with the result. It looks great!

Refinish upper floor. Replace flooring on main floor

Dealt with Larry Willmott from the Etobicoke location. With only brief direct contact work was discussed and agreed to mainly by email prior to our taking possession of Toronto house after moving from Vancouver (yes, some people are silly). Larry took his time to give guidance and suggestions that ended up being much appreciated. Work included refinishing hardwood flooring on second floor. In addition new pre-finished hardwood flooring was installed throughout the main floor, including removing slate flooring in kitchen area and levelling all to provide seamless hardware from front to back. Wooden ventilation grates suggested by Larry were inexpensive but are a highlight. Work was started and completed within the scheduled time, ready to move in shortly after. Was 100% satisfied from beginning to end. A good experience when dealing with professionals. Don Topp

    The Floor Shop/installation hardwood floor

I purchased a gift certificate at a charity event for the Canadian Cancer Society, donated by Peter of The Floor Shop. I recently had the hardwood flooring installed in my home office. The floor looks amazing and the installers were great. They were extremely professional. You would not have known they were in our home because at the end of the day the floor and surrounding area was spotless. I was very impressed and love my new office floor.

New hardwood floors on 2nd floor of old downtown house

While doing bathroom renovation, we decided to replace the upstairs broadloom with hardwood. Under broadloom was old tile, under tile was old wood floor. Visited the Floor Shop for information: Andrew extremely helpful and professional advice with pros and cons of options. Alan made site visit and wrote out quotation on the spot. Accepted his quote to lay new subfloor and then new hardwood on top. Work done on schedule by 2 highly skilled guys who were in an out in 2 days. They worked around 4 bookcases and a desk. Without being asked, they fitted bookcase and desk bottoms with felt protectors. Nice, clean, professional job. Floors are amaxzing.

new maple hardwood in kitchen & hall

We did our due diligence to select a company to install new hardwood floor in the kitchen and hallway. We obtained quotes from several suppliers but it was obvious with all the 'caveats' provided, they weren't confident in the installation and wanted us to assume the risk for everything. We live in a 90+ year old North Toronto house with some challenges: in the kitchen, layers of 'historical' wood & vinyl flooring in kitchen; in the hall-way; original hardwood (in rough shape)covered with plywood; covered with vinyl, covered with more wood, and then covered with carpet; adjoing entrances to dining room & living (including transitions) with original hardwood, in good, shape, plus some tile in the front door entrance. And we have original 7+ inch baseboard, plaster/lath walls which aren't straight. Since we were disappointed with the quality of the floor installers we contacted, we requested a recommendation from our our realtor and was given the Flooring Shop in Leaside. All aspects of the project cycle were outstanding from: initial sales contact & in home inspection; product selection in the store; pre-install discussion and scope of work clarification, risk identification and mitigation strategy, and excellent communciations (thanks Andrew). I very much appreciated the convenience of using emai c/w photos to provide reference for discussions to 'fine tune' the installation details. The overall installation was well co-ordinated to meet our specific needs as we had to fit the floor install in between other contractors. All the upfront work and process was excellent but when it came time and if all this wasn't enough, the Installation crew was outstanding. My wife, who was home for the day, couldn't say enough good things about these guys. Professional & courteous, competent, and extremely focused to get the job done in one long day. I arrived home near the completion of the job and was overwhelmed by the change in apperance of our house, with excellent product (Canadian maple flooring) and upon close inspection, the outstanding quality of the workmanship. In terms of contract close out, no surprises, no surprise extras, no fuss, no issues. As a disclaimer, I do not work for the Floor Shop or will recieve any consideration for my review (darn) but I'm very enthusiastic to endorse good work when I see it. We're 1/2 way through our house reno. First the re-wiring; then some foundation repair; new kitchen arrives next week (that's why the floor is installed now) so we've been living through a variety of Trade product and services. Our experience with the Floor Shop was that good and it is in such stark contrast to the horror show we just experienced with the window installation gone terribly bad (but that's another review). My suggestion would be to definitely give the Floor Shop the opportunity to get your business. We were not disappointed.

    Hardwood Floors and Stairs

We originally came across Kim and The Floor Shop when looking to install hardwood floors through out our entire home. From the moment that I met Kim I was extremely impressed with her knowledge and professionalism. Since we have two medium sized dogs it was important that we choose the right hardwood and wanted to ensure it was hardwood professionals that installed it. A detailed schedule was determined and the contractors remained on the schedule which was not an easy task given the other contractors we had on site. If every company was run as well as Kim does this site of the Floor Shop renovations would be stress free!! We love our new hardwood floors and stairs and would highly recommend this company to anyone who was the job done on time and correctly. Thank you Kim and everyone who worked so hard on making our home our "dream house".

    Hardwood Installation, whole house

The Floor Shop (Leaside location) recently installed Vintage hand scraped hardwood on the main and second floor of my townhouse, and redid the staircase as well. Peter was nice enough to work around my VERY tight schedule to come take a look at the house, and gave me a clear and detailed estimate - an itemized contract followed right away when I decided to go ahead with the work. Andrew arranged the install and provided a detailed work schedule well in advance re: tearing out and disposing of the existing carpet, tile and old wood flooring, and having two separate teams come in to take care of the flooring and the stairs, all within the fairly narrow window of time I had available for the work to be done. Everything was done beautifully and efficiently, right on schedule and on budget, the house was left neat and tidy, and I was kept up to date throughout the entire process. Just a great experience overall and the floors look amazing. Thank you Peter, Andrew, Wojtek and Paul, excellent work!!!!
