    lawn care

We engaged a gardener to manage our lawn and garden. After a few years the grass began to be overrun with dandelions and crabgrass and other types of weeds. We also awoke one morning to find patches of the grass turned over. We later learned that it was raccoons search for grubs. Four years later with Weedman we have a great looking lawn, in good health, no grubs and weeds at a minimum. Could not be more pleased. Highly recommend

Regular Annual Program + Lawn Renovation

Our lawn was so bad that we were told by another company we should re-sod the entire front lawn and undergo some restoration in the back yard. I'm so glad we called Weedman before going that route. I was very skeptical they could help us because of how severe our weed problem was. We had so many weeds that grass was virtually undetectable in our front yard. In the back, we had large areas where grass didn't grow at all; the rest was very sparse and weak and peppered with a variety of weeds. I didn't believe a spray-solution would help, but Weedman promised they could restore our lawn to about 95%. The results were mind-blowing. We began by doing a lawn restoration which involved a machine which plants grass seeds right into the lawn, in little trenches. This service with tax was $370. We followed watering instructions and within a week we could see the new grass coming up. This was promising, especially in the large bare and full-shade areas in the back yard. By the end of 4 weeks, we had a full lawn in both front and back! After our first Fiesta spray, all of the weeds started turning black and just disappeared, we didn't have to pull a single weed out. Today (3 months later), there are virtually NO weeds in the front and back yard, even our crab grass is gone! I never thought in the 8 years we've lived here that our lawn had this sort of potential. I wish I'd taken before photos to show what a lost cause it seemed. Now, we have the thickest, greenest lawn on the street. Even our neighbors commented on it. And not a single weed, and no hours spent pulling weeds. I'm not a gardener, but now that we have such a beautiful lawn, I'm spending more time outdoors improving the curb appeal, cutting shrubs and making room for even more lush thick grass next year. I was always skeptical of these services but they're totally worth the $291/year.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I agree it would of been nice to see the before and after pictures but your words alone have painted a great picture for us and we are very happy to hear about the great improvements that we were both able to achieve with your lawn this year. weed man lawn care

This is our first year with weed man. There have been visible results with our lawn. I was hoping all of my weeds would be gone by now but I'm sure that day will soon come. Weed man have done everything that they agreed to do. I'm happy.

    lawn maintenance

Hi, Despite reading the reviews on Home Stars, I felt that I should judge their work myself given that they reapply at no charge. The Fiesta chemical they apply only turns the weeds black temporarily. They did a reapplication with same results. The chemical does not work {see Health Canada warnings on product}, Product may be too diluted to effectively kill weeds.Try Googling it. Despite emails with photos attached & asking to meet with someone to show areas they missed-not once did anyone come to meet with us to discuss the problem. They only keep sending someone back to reapply & do not notify you that they are currently working in your yard. . It is as if their goal is to treat as many lawns in a day as possible without interruptions. (Quantity vs Quality.).

    Answer from pro:

I am sorry to hear about your disappointment in our service and the misunderstanding you had in how our services work. Fiesta is classified as a Bio-rational product and can be used in Ontario as it exceeds all government guidelines for the safe control of broad leaf weeds. . The first sign of the weeds being affected by this iron base weed control is blackening to the leaves. We know that some weeds can regrow and that is why Weed Man offers in all of our programs back to back weed control applications within 4 weeks of each other as well season long treatments including unlimited reapplications when and if required. This was your first season with us and we had only completed 2 weed controls, May24th and June 2nd. The June 2nd application was of no charge based on concerns that Mr. Buttigieg had cut the lawn the same day we applied the first weed control, which would greatly diminishes the results as stated on the invoice special instructions. We did receive the email and pictures and spoke to Mrs. Buttigieg about the concern areas and advised that seeding was required to fill in the dead areas. The services were cancelled via email the weekend of June 14th after only 2 weeks of servicing your property making it impossible for us to deliver the results we promised for the entire 2014 lawn care season. I understand your concerns and would like to discuss your lawn care needs, please contact my office. Steve Stronge Customer Service Manager 416-269-8333

    Weedman Service, Summer 2014

We hired Weedman based on reputation and performance in our neighborhood. Staff visiting our home have been friendly and quick about their work. I appreciate the calls the day before a treatment so that I can keep my pets inside the day off - the reminders are helpful. Weeds have been taken care of and my lawn looks considerably better. Weedman does call (from a call centre) far too often with 'advisements' for additional treatments (grubs, added fertilizer, aeration, etc) that are considerable more money than the entire year's worth of service (a call recently was more than $450 of products). Good product & protocol, however the constant pressure from their callcentres for products I do not want nor need means I can't recommend to a friend. I will look for an alternate next year that hopefully doesn't continually pester for additionally charges (2-4 times per month).

    Answer from pro:

I thank you for taking the time to inform me of your concerns and that you are also very happy with our services. The calls we make are from recommendations only based on your lawns overall conditions but I do understand if this is a concern. Your business is extremely important to me and I can remove your phone number from our sales department to ensure that you no longer receive calls about any additional recommended services. Please contact my office so I can locate your account and make the necessary changes immediately. Again thank you for your feed back! Steve Stronge Customer Service Manager 416-269-8333

    Lawn Care / Weed control

We bought our home last year and decided to hire Weed Man Scarborough on Grand Marshall Drive to treat our lawn as it was in good condition and didn't want the few weeds that did exist to spread. They have applied weed control spray twice and both times the weeds turn purple and start wilting, they look as if they are dying, but after 7 days the very same weeds roar back to life. I am going to give them another shot to kill these weeds before hiring a competitor who swears his stuff works better. I am aware that the Province has banned the old chemicals that used to work but seriously how can a business stake it's name on weed removal and not get the job done. Friday I found a grub inspection report trying to upsell me for more money, all that was going through my mind was how could an employee of Weed Man come to my property to upsell when the core mission of their service has been a failure so far. He walked right past the weedy lawn to sell me grub control from Weed Man? Anyway, I am going to give them another shot to get these weeds killed, today I was out weeding, the very thing I sought to avoid doing by hiring the Weed Man.

    Answer from pro:

I understand your concern and would ask that you contact my office to have a reapplication applied to your lawn. Weed Man is the only lawn care provider that actually offers unlimited reapplications of our services to ensure proper results of our customer’s lawns. As you stated the weeds turned colour and reacted to the product, at that point the majority of the weeds should have died off. If this did not happen it could be because of the amount of rain fall we have had, the lawn was cut too soon after it was applied or the weeds are more established and some only weakened with the application. Any of these reasons are very possible but the same results are taken when we are contacted by our customer and that is a reapplication of the service. Please contact my office to resolve both of our concerns as I am not able to locate your account from the information that was provided. Thank you Steve Stronge Customer Service Manager 416-269-8333

    Weedman Toronto

I have used their services in 2012 and 2013. In summer of 2013 I called them to say that despite their service, there were plenty of weeds at the back of the lawn / property. Nothing was done. I then called to convey that since I had paid upfront for the year and their work was bad, I did not want to continue with weedman after 2013. In April or May 2014, they showed up one day when no one was at home and likely did some fertilization, or at least claim that they did. I was surprised and called them to ask why did they come out when I had clearly mentioned last year that I would not continue. I was told they did not have any records of my call from last year, so I have to pay them the 50+ $ for the services they claim to have done this year. Why should I pay when I had made it clear to them that I want nothing to do with Weedman after 2013.

    Answer from pro:

I do understand your concern and would ask that you contact your local Weed Man franchise to discuss this matter. In the event of human error on our side we send out three invoices in September, January and March which clearly states the program that is scheduled and when the services will be completed. We take great pride in keeping open communication lines with all of our customers and are only a click or a call away to answer our customer’s questions and even concerns. Lawn Care

I cancelled my services months ago by email months ago. Weed man came and put fertilizer down in April. I called weed man and spoke with Elizabeth about this. I read her the email and she apologized and said not to pay the bill as it was weed mans error . At no point did she ask me to email her the original email in fact I just read it to her over the phone. June 5 I received a 30 day overdue notice for that product. Once again I called in and spoke with the staff. The person I spoke with was the general floor supervisor and she said that Elizabeth's notes did not say not to pay the bill and that only if I returned to weed man would I be discounted that visit. This was never even mentioned to me by Elizabeth, if it had been I would have asked to be put through to a manager right then on April 10. After speaking with Elizabeth and confirming that your service was no longer required or that I would have to pay this bill, I deleted the email and weed man from my bank account. After speaking with the floor supervisor on June 6 and explaining all this she first offered me a less than $10.00 discount on the invoice. She refused to give me a managers name or email and kept repeating that there was nothing he would do anyway. I asked her for a superior /manager/ or even owner and she refused to give me any information. Finally I agreed to pay half the bill of 52.00 even though I feel I have been taken advantage of. I was a customer for two years and always paid my bill on time. Don't ever use this company

    Answer from pro:

I am sorry to lose your business this year. My floor supervisor looked into our inbound emails that are never deleted or purged from our files and verified that we had not received any emails from your account to alter or cancel your services for the 2014 season. The service was applied in April as we have done over the past few years and not until we received a call from you was my office notified to stop services for the 2014 lawn care season. Being a customer of ours over the last few years Marchel was concerned that there was a misunderstanding with the last communication you had with our office and took some responsibility by removing half of the balance of that service that was completed . The first notification we had to stop services we did as per your request but prior to that 1 service being completed we had not received any communication to cancel your program. If you have any question please do not hesitate in contacting me. Steve Stronge Customer Service Manager 416-269-8333
