I should have gone with my intuition, which told me "Go with Handy" - I had bought appliances and service from them many many years back. But no, like a fool I went in a hurry onto the Maytag website to look up "who is available" to try to fix my 12 yr old Maytag fridge which had died. Long story short, after three tries and a 550 dollar tab, the machine kept failing and we lost a ton of frozen food. So, I spoke to Lawrence in the salesroom at Handy while I was researching a replacement machine. He mentioned Handy's policy of rebating half the diagnostic fee, which made it a good "bet" to at least see if this machine was in fact redeemable. So I booked a service call through Anastasia. Fast, friendly service. A couple days later Gary arrived, and gave me a real insight into the nature of how and when to make the call to "fix or replace". In fact I realized that the Maytag guy had omitted a couple of critical diagnostic procedures which may well have helped me decide NOT to repair the unit. On Gary's advice, I contacted the Maytag guy who did, in fact, refund most of my costs, since the expensive replacement compressor was under warranty. I then came back to Lawrence at Handy and he helped me figure out some options. I ended up buying a Frigidaire replacement, and included the optional extended warranty, which is very affordable and gives good "peace of mind". The price was better than the same machine at a couple of "big box stores" that I had compared to, plus of course I was entitled to the afore-mentioned credit from my service call with Gary.
All in all, a very good experience with all three of these good people. I think Handy offers good value and service, and they are much more communicative and helpful than the "big guys"!
I will not go elsewhere for my future appliance needs - Handy has it all.
