    Retrofit of 11 Windows and Patio Door

    In good faith, we have not rushed to provide a review, despite a multitude of requests, but over the months, nothing has improved, so here we go. At this time, this is not a review of the product, though we have no reason to assume it will not meet its specification and function. Our experience with Verdun has been a multi-month, painful, and unnecessarily stressful experience, throughout all three phases of our acquisition: the purchase, the install and post install service. This negative experience has been exasperated by their appalling lack of communication. It is almost impossible to describe how bad this is – almost as if their hope is that problems will go away if they just keep ignoring them. Our contract was for the replacement of 11 windows and a patio door, in an extension, added to our house in 1984. This was not a complex install but did require consideration of the geometric alignment of a group of windows. In both the acquisition and installation phases, we tried to get involved, in an attempt to mitigate our concerns but were basically told “we have done this a million times before”. The first install in October 2020 resulted in faults, alignment, and skew issues with 6 of the 11 windows. These issues were, for the most-part, corrected in November at the same time as the patio door was installed. One major issue, identified during installation, was that one of the windows (the only custom shape) was manufactured to a different profile to those around it and clearly looked like an orphan, particularly from the outside. As well as this issue, Verdun installers identified a damaged window and damaged brickmold for the patio door, both to be replaced at a future date. There have been delays along the way and some requested by us in these COVID times. Indeed, in exchange for one delay, we agreed to pay up 50% of our holdback money because, it was claimed that material for the retrofits had already been purchased. Two days ago, June 2021, a Verdun service crew showed up, on time, to complete our installation (we thought). The three major retrofits plus 2 minor adjustments. Garden plants had been protected, furniture moved to make for an easier workspace and cars moved from drive. Despite months of communication and assurances, that the required material and labor would be available to complete the job – they left without being able to do any of the 3 major retrofits due to material issues. No replacement for scratched window, no brickmold for patio door and the custom window delivered, was identical to the one it was supposed to replace. True to form, not a word of apology or explanation has been received from Verdun management or support. We did contact our original salesperson, who did at least respond very quickly and try to get things moving. Based on these experiences we cannot recommend Verdun

    order 110-903

    Replaced all the windows of our house. 29 window units. 1) sales process - good 2) overall experience stressful- site is a private home not a construction site 3) updates from manufacturer prior to installation - good but started 6 weeks later than originally expected; 4)Installation : now complete ; one problem outstanding a) planned for 3 days - took 9 days ( 5 work days, 3 day weekend, 1 sick day) b) extra time not installer fault - they identified complexity early c) installers competent, polite, well equipped but a bit messy 4) overall quality control from vendor during installation needs to be much better 5) glad it is over but need to address the problem - installer will be contacted. d) some minor issues with missing parts during installation.

    New door

    I love my new door! The installers did a great job. They were professional. I would recommend this company and would surely do business with them again. Thank you very much.

    The quality of the windows is terrible and customer service is awful

    After some research and speaking with other clients of Verdun I decided to go with them because I wanted to buy local and the revocell window was the best quoted. I ordered my 5 windows in the beginning of July. It was a supply only meaning I installed them myself so I took the measurement myself and call the salesman to get a quote. I’m no expert but it did this over 50 times before. The salesman told me he needed to take the measurement himself before the order because he was the one responsible for fit of the window. When he came he proposed to make them ½ inch deeper ( 8 inch instead of 7 ½ ) so the outside would look nicer and have a better place for the sealing joint. I asked him to price me the best window they had and if they had triple pane. He said double pane is all they have. So I trusted his “expertise” and order A few weeks after the order I go back the Verdun Website to realize that the Revocell is now offered in Triple pane option. That was my first disappointment. I specifically ask for the triple pain. I assume if it was going to be available in a few weeks the salesman could have told me. 2On July 29th the windows came and I installed them on august 8. After being plumb and square half of them would not even open at all. On top of that the color of the outside windows was not going deep enough so we could see the white of the casing by ½” (proposed by the salesman). The shakers joints are not square and the window sashes are bowing in. I was pretty disappointed so I emailed the Salesman on August 14 with pictures attached. I waited 6 days then called him after not getting a response and left a message. I call him back the day after he said he get so many email that he didn’t remember mine and It was not a big deal they just needed adjustment. So on august 27th he came back and told me they were too busy at the plant to do quality control and he was going to drop me a special adjustment key and he was going to speak with the service manager. On September 1st the service manager call me to book an appointment with a service guy to fix the 5 windows. The salesman dropped me the 50 cents service key that should’ve come with 5000$ of windows and told me every installer has them in their pockets. On September 8th the service guy knocks on my door and says: They told me you have 1 window that I have to fix . The Gentlemen was not aware of he was coming to adjust 5 windows and on top of that he had a broken had so you can imagine he was not going to do much that afternoon. But anyway he was kind enough to have a look .While taking apart the window he broke one window sash. He believed my installation was wrong because the sash were bowing so much but after checking everything with the level on conclude with me that they didn’t put any shims on the long sashes to stop them from bowing. He also told me that the window depth was very wrong and the glass part should always be inside the insulated wall not sticking out like the salesman proposed. So basically ideally I should remove every window, take apart the inside and rip ½ inch. He apologized and said they were to busy at the plant to inspect the windows before they get delivered and told me he was going to say in his report that the absence of shims in the window was causing the bow. He suggested that I call the service manager and work something out so I left him a message on September 9th On September 11th I called back the service manager he told me he didn’t get the message and the report from the service guy: Bad Installation. So he basically told me that everything was my bad and he can’t do anything for me and to talk to my salesman. So I called back my salesman the same day and I’m really not happy and he said give my until Monday morning to fix something . On September 14th salesman call me back and proposed to send someone to remove the windows with me and re cut the entire interior to the right depth .I counter him with another suggestion if he could change the 2 windows facing west for some triple pane I was going to pay the extra and take care of the installation he said he would call me back by the end of the week On September 30 I called him back he said he was still working on my case and was going to call the by October 3rd 7 months after I’m still waiting. I’m stuck with windows that I had to install twice because of someone else mistake. The quality of the windows is terrible and customer service is awful. I would never recommend Verdun to anyone. They look good from far but far from good.

    7 months since installation and NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS still

    Poorly made, ill fitting windows. Our large living room has always had ice formation on the INSIDE and noticeable drafts in winter- still no resolution after 8 service calls and nobody seems to really care. Kitchen windows both have bowed sash resulting in a howling sound in windy conditions. Obviously this also results in poor air seal. The service manager doesn't answer my emails so I escalated my complaints to a high level manager who promised she would ensure all issues would be resolved to my satisfaction and would follow up weekly until done. I never heard from her again. I am now waiting for yet another service call to try to remedy the howling kitchen windows but am thinking I will be going to small claims court over the living room window. I also get ice build up on the inside of my new patio door in winter. I live in a 2003 built Urbandale home and did not have these issues with my builder supplied windows. The utter lack of care from this company is shocking. We will be replacing a number of other windows in our home but will NEVER do business with this company again. Such a frustrating and disappointing experience especially when Verdun claims to have the best windows on the market. They are poorly made from the get-go. I have heard they are experiencing staffing issues and can not retain qualified people, therefore the people making the windows are not well qualified and are putting out poor quality products. Unfortunately I have a colleague who has been struggling with Verdun as well for months and has not been able to get 1 service call for ill-made, dented and poorly fitting patio door he had custom made by them. He too is thinking of going to small claims court. I am at a total loss how this company can stay in business. The same service gentleman comes out for every service call. He is a nice guy but he just hasn't been able to find solutions. We have requested a whole new living room window but so far have been told that won't happen. This company is not standing behind their product at all.

    Replacement of front entry door and 2 windows

    Nothing but good things to say about this install. The installers were courteous, professional, conscientious and completed the work to a standard well above my expectations. I will be using this company in future for other similar projects.

    Window upgrade

    From the beginning, Jackie came over and was thorough and professional, and was able to get to my price point without an issue. Install was scheduled within 8 weeks. The installation crew showed up on time, and was very professional, polite with my puppy, and the finish product was amazing. We had 8 windows installed in one day. Nothing was left behind, and everything was cleaned up. Highly recommend this company.

    9 windows replaced

    The installers Serge and Gabriel arrived on time as promised. This was a two day job, replacing 9 windows at a cottage. They were courteous, efficient, effective, pleasant. They did a fantastic job and they left the job site clean. They had all the right tools We are very satisfied with the outcome. We are booking them again for doors next year!

    Top notch

    We had our main front door and our side door (2 teams) replaced. Michel the rep was easy going, knowledgeable and helpful as you would expect from a company of this level. BOTH install teams were spot on. Showed up on time (actually early), were very courteous. The quality of the install was top notch. We have literally nothing to complain about and, they cleaned up like nothing happened. It's difficult to pick a product in a catalog. the end result was even better than what we expected. No, it's not "cheap" - but who want's "cheap" for something you will be using every single day? 100% worth it.

    Front Door and Patio Door

    We had an awesome experience with Verdun Windows today! Our appointment window was 7am to 9am we were contacted at 7 :30 the guy's arrived at 8 and worked practically until 3 pm non stop. They were professional, courteous and knew their stuff! They were very respectful to our home both inside and out and cleaned everything up immaculately. What a job! Our doors are beautiful!
