I hired Verdun to replace 6 windows in my home. After I signed the contract, I had a question about the trims and whether they could replace the existing trims. I sent an email to the sales person and also left him a message about this, but never got an answer. The day that the crew came in to replace my windows, they realized one window was the wrong size, and had to be reordered. Then they broke another window in the process of installation. Later that day, I realized one of the screens was missing. They booked me in for fixing the broken window and replacing the other window 10 days later. (Even for this rebooking, they didn’t contact me. I had to contact them.) They were late for the appointment. So I called the office and was told that they were stuck in another job and I was rebooked for a few days later. This time two groups of people came in and completed the job. In the process, at no time, anyone from Verdun expressed any regrets about what had happened. After they completed the installation, I tried to put back my blinds, which were previously inside the window frames. At that point, I realized that three of the windows were installed too far inside the frame (compared to my previous windows) and as a result I didn’t have enough space to install back my blinds. In addition, they had reinstalled one of the trims under one of the window frames crooked such that on one side there was about 1cm of gap between the trim and the bullnose. I contacted them for the issue and they booked me an appointment for a technician to come over and inspect the windows. When the technician came he acknowledged the issue and said he would report it and someone would get back to me. About 6 weeks passed and no one contacted me. I thus contacted them and this time I was told that a senior technician will drop by three weeks later to inspect the windows again. This second technician told me that the reason that some windows were further in (compared to my old windows) was because Verdun windows have more depth and since the window had to be within the thickness of the wall then that leaves a smaller space for the interior. When I asked him how come one of the installed windows has about 1.5 inches more space in the interior compared to the others (while all walls have the same thickness), he said he didn’t know why the installers did that but maybe it was because of the way that the old window was installed! When I asked him if that would be a problem, he said he thought there was no problem with that window! He then said, if I wanted, they could bring that window further in by taking it out and cut the jamb! I explained to him that I wanted the other windows to go further out so that I would have the same space inside of their frames as I had with my old windows. He then said they could do that but that I would have to pay for it. I explained to him that asking me to pay for it was not fair as no one told me about this thickness difference between my old windows and the new ones and that as a result I would end up with a much smaller space inside the frame, which wouldn’t allow for the blinds to be installed inside the frame. He was dismissive and said he was not going to repeat himself and that all he could do was to report back that I was not happy that the windows were installed with different spacing inside their frames! He said he could however fix the issue with the trim easily in 15 minutes or so. When I asked him when, he said I had to make another appointment! So, almost three months has passed and I am still having all these issues with the installation of my windows. As a result, I also haven’t been able to install the blinds. I see the company has many positive reviews. Based on my own experience, I suspect that they may not be reviews of real customers.
