    Condensation problem w/ furnace when A/C is running

    On Wednesday (June 20), we contacted a few heating & cooling services through HomeStars looking to book an appointment to have a technician come out and take a look at our furnace as water was coming out of it whenever the A/C was running. The next day, Richard called stating that he could fit us in for Friday. However, things worked out even better and we ended up with a noon appointment on the same day instead! (Note: CoreTemp was the only company that got back to us.) Richard and a tech showed up at our home around 11:45 AM. They were very friendly and courteous and rectified the problem with our furnace quickly. (It turned out to be an issue with the drain being clogged.) We are extremely pleased with CoreTemp and would definitely use their services again. Highly recommended.

    airconditioner

    We have a 5-year 6 months old air con that broke down during the first heat wave of this year. A co-worker who had the same problem and recommended Richard. Richard came and assessed our a/c and top up with coolant to get us through this heat wave while we decide if we will repair or purchase a new a/c. We decided to buy a new one so we don't have to experience the same problem in the future and since your company offers a great warranty than the one we have. We contacted Richard again. He came the next day with a new a/c. But because he is an honest person, he felt that since it is still considered a new a/c, he recommended to top up with coolant and reassess next month if there is a leak in the a/c. I find Richard very honest, friendly and not a "pushy" salesman like others who are only interested in selling the product. I feel strongly that Richard is an asset to your company and I highly commend him for his expertise. I am happy to say that we are surviving this heat wave because of Richard.

    Annual Maintenance and Repair

    Richard/Janice and Team are amazing. I upgraded my AC/Furnace/Tankless 3 years ago, and Richard and crew came to do annual maintenance for the system. Replaced all filters, UV light and hosed down the AC and checked levels. They were done very quickly and were very courteous and friendly. On a side note, I had a problem with the furnace/tankless condensation pipes getting blocked. Richard and team came and attempted to fix the problem twice. On the 3rd attempt this past winter, they replaced all the piping and ran it to the drain, bypassing the pipe out of the floor. This allowed us to discover that the lint from the dryer was the culprit. Also, that the redirect would permanently fix our issue. These 3 attempts were covered as part of our yearly maintenance and warranty. So no additional cost. Thanks again Richard and Janice. Your level of expertise and top quality work, lets me and my family sleep well at night. God bless you!

    New Air Conditioner Installation

    We highly recommend CoreTemp for A/C installation - their service is reliable, professional, courteous, and honest. Admittedly, when I first called CoreTemp I had my doubts - they're a smaller business and mainly sell RUUD units (which I hadn't heard of before). Richard was very honest and upfront with his advice. Still having doubts, I called other top-rated companies on HomeStars - some had appalling customer service and some didn't even return our phonecalls. We had one more company (AtlasCare) visit our home and provide a quote - they had good customer care, but their prices were ridiculously expensive for an average unit and insisted on a higher seer rating than what we needed. We ended up back where we started and called CoreTemp again. When Richard and a technician came to provide a quote, they were highly knowledgeable and experienced. Their recommendations also saved us a lot of money - recommended a decent seer rating for our home, included a new thermostat, and met a tight schedule for installation. They were the perfect balance between customer care, quality products, and value. The installation process went smoothly, completed in a few hours, and no mess was left behind. We were pleased with the A/C placement (ground instead of wall bracket to avoid vibration), extra piping, and unit testing. One month later and after a few heat waves, our RUUD air conditioner is running smoothly - even our neighbours have commented about the unit and how quiet it is. CoreTemp is a smaller company, but do all the little things that count! We intend to have the unit annually maintained by them and will recommend to others. We feel extremely lucky to have found Richard and the CoreTemp team!

    Air Conditioner

    CoreTemp installed a new air conditioner for us. They arrived when they said they would and performed the job in a professional manner. I will use them again if any problems should arise with my furnace . The air conditioner works very well and we are more than the happy with it. I will have no problem recommending CoreTemp to any of my family or friends.

    HVAC Consultation

    We live in an older home in downtown Toronto. We were having issues with the strength of our AC this year - the system was working, but not it was very weak. I called in another company (one of the top-rated on Homestars) and their technician looked at our AC unit and furnace and did some measurements. He insisted the system was working just fine, and could not find anything wrong. A few days later I had another company come in (also top rated on Home Stars: AtlasCare). By this point, our coolant line had ice forming over it (which was a new symptom) and was in even worse shape. They were very pleasant and helpful. Clearly, something was wrong and they diagnosed the problem as insufficient air flow getting to our coil because of the unconventional (and not ideal) installation of the furnace and coil by the previous owner. They told me that I was at risk of a flood from the coil freezing over and that this problem was the reason for our poor AC performance. Their recommendation was a full replacement of the entire AC system and re-installation of a new coil into the furnace and change of airflow vents. This was a $5000-$6000 solution. I was worried about not having AC in the middle of a heat wave (we have an infant at home), so I almost said yes. But, I called in CoreTemp to give me a second opinion. In 5 minutes they diagnosed that, yes, we had an air flow problem but the solution was easily found by removing the filter from an old, legacy (and redundant) electrical filtration system that was totally dirty and thus blocking the return air. Once they took out these redundant (and grimy!) filters, air flow improved amazingly and our AC has never been stronger. It has been one week and system seems OK. We will see how it does in heavy heat. So far, looks like they saved me $5000. For the record, the first company that said everything was fine: I tried writing a mediocre review of them here on Homestars. They disputed the validity of the review and I could not prove it because I did not ask for a receipt/invoice. Lesson learned! Thanks CoreTemp for your quick help and not proposing a major expense!

    Always available for advice!

    I can't say enough about Richard & the Core Temp Team! My a/c is on it's way out, however, Richard has been able to keep things cool until that final day arrives. It does not matter time of day or day of week, Richard is always available for some advice (even if it is just to ask "did you check the breaker?"). Thanks Richard, I have a feeling this is only the beginning of a long & loyal relationship!!!

    Repair to Air Conditioner

    Our air conditioner wasn't working properly. Richard responded to my call for service immediately and was able to provide me with information even before seeing the unit. He showed up on time and quickly diagnosed and repaired the problem. He suggested different options for my consideration and suggested ideas for future consideration. I highly recommend CoreTemp if you're looking for responsive, respectful and reliable service.

    Fix air conditioning problem

    Richard of Core-Temp was unbelievable. We had a problem, late last year and the other co. we called could not find the issue, and that co is often featured on HGTV (go figure). Richard was relentless and figured it out in less than an hour? Great personality and very knowledgeable. I am so happy I finally found a GREAT company that we can rely on for all our HVAC needs. THANK YOU VERY MUCH RICHARD!!!!

    Rinnai Tankless Water Heater

    Coretemp removed our dinosaur hot water tank and installed a compact and efficient Rinnai tankless water heater. The installation took less than a day and we are very pleased with the workmanship and the end product. The service technician also checked and topped up the refrigerant level in our central air conditioner at no charge when I mentioned the central air seemed to be running more than it should.
