We contacted John by email and he was extremely flexible with arranging an appointment to have our 2 locks re-keyed. John was punctual and professional, explaining the process to us. We're very happy with our new locks. Thanks, John!

Called Abbey Lock on Friday evening, and he came over the following day as per appointment time, reviewed the front lock and replaced it with a high security lock. It was quick and efficient. Would recommend him.

Called Abbey as saw they had good reviews on Homestars. Made an appointment and John came when he said he would. Had to remove part of the door to fix the lock but did the job very quickly. I would recommend their services.

Abbey Lock was recommended to us by some of our close friends. We followed their suggestions and installed a Multi lock high security dead bolt and are very happy with the result. We also recommend them.

I didn't have any referrals to a locksmith when my my wife and I bought our home in West Hill. I found John Smethurst through the Homestar reviews, and after reading some of his ratings and comparing with others, I definitely felt that he was the right choice. My two biggest reasons were the consistent high ratings of course (and even a considerate explanation for the one low one), and that he seemed to express a strong sense of stewardship to his clients, which I value highly. John gave me a decent quote over the phone for my house and we set an appointment. John arrived promptly, and I appreciated his candor appraisal of the state of my home security at the time, which was surprisingly poor. So I decided, based on his clear explanations & recommendations, to install a high security Mul-T-Lock system, which I am very happy with. The price was very reasonable...and worth it...now I just have to build the house infrastructure up to measure up to the quality of the locks installed! thanks John.

I met John through an advertisement that my own business sent out locally. I was invited into their home to give an estimate for some new flooring. John and his wife were very prepared with the questions that they had and expressed exactly how they wanted their new flooring to perform. With my recomendations we picked out the right color and had the installation took place within two weeks. If was after the installation that John had mentioned his business to me. We talked about how things have changed from the good old days. Most business' take the quick approach to getting the sale, taking the money and to heck with the future. There will always be another customer to come along. It was refreshing to see that this is not the way that John does business. He stays in contact with his clients and even gave me a follow up phone call about 2 months after the installation of my new system was installed. I made the mistake of discarding the code that is needed to change the combination of my lock. At great length John went on to the internet, then got in contact with the manufacturer. It is this kind of service that is not part of the original agreement that an excellent company offers. I have had my lock for over two years and all of a sudden a red light appears when in use. Not having the manual, I wasn't sure what the problem might be. I called John and withing 12 hours he dropped by and changed the battery for me. It is this kind of caring and service that I think most people would like to see more of. Rest assured when dealing with Abbeylock services, it is more than just a one time deal.

Abbey Locks came when scheduled. They confirmed the day before. They arrived on time, even a little early. They replaced our lock with a high security lock. Even though they were unable to deal with a sliding patio door lock they provided very helpful suggestions. We were very happy with our choice!

John came the same day as I called him - which was great - but he didn't have a door knob similar to ours, so despite going out for over an hour to buy some parts he needed he ended up replacing our nickle coloured door knob with a gold coloured one; now the deadbolt and knob are different colours and it bothers me every day. Unfortunately my brother was the only one home at the time and wasn't able to manage the issue.

John was exceptional in his explanation of how to protect our home and business. His suggestions made my husband and I feel more protected and secure. His high security recommendation to use Mul-t-lock with a one key system was an execellent idea. Will definately recommend Abbey Lock to friends and family. Good work John !!

John did a high quality installation for a fair price. Our 90 year old house has many non-standard doors and cut-outs but John handled these challenges very well. The only reason a 10 rating was not given is that he arrived an hour earlier than scheduled and could have been more responsive to customer feedback regarding handset styles.
