Royal York Roofing was excellent to work with. They were quick to respond with answers to our questions. They were considerate of our property and that of our neighbours making sure areas were protected and cleaned up afterwards. They were also very competitively priced. I would highly recommend.

Cedar Roof Replacement for House and Garage
Very good experience beginning with Vitaliy who came to see the house and garage and clearly explained the steps and extra care they take in doing cedar roofs (type of shingle, underlayment, cedar breather, copper flashing, hand nailing technique, zinc strips on north facing part to reduce moss etc.). The proposal was provided shortly thereafter by Pavel and Eleanor, very detailed and thorough and the price was very competitive with other quotes I had received, but much better detail and assurances of quality. The crew who came to do the job was very hard-working and courteous, every night everything was left tidy and despite a few rainy days they completed the job on time. Overall the experience was above my expectations as I have been disappointed in the last few years with other contractors and trades. This company is professional and I would highly recommend them if you are looking at replacing a cedar roof or other type of roof.

Cedar shake roof replacement
This firm certainly knows all about cedar roofing. Royal York's crew arrived when they said they would and worked everyday until the job was finished, no interuptions. Every night they tidied up and went over the driveway with a magnet to collect up any nails Crew were pleasant, friendly and efficient. The office staff were helpful and responsive. It was a pleasure dealing with all of them. I would recommend Royal York Roofing.

Great after sales service!
Roof was replaced 12 years ago by Royal York. Noticed a missing vent now, and they responded very promptly and fixed it free of charge (outside of the 10 yer warranty).

avoid if you want good quality and actual warranty
Before I hired Royal York Roofing (RYR) to replace aging roof on my house, I asked them for a detailed breakdown of the prices, but they denied and said that they provide only the total amount in their quotes. Before they started the project, they verbally promised to install the metal vents on the roof. But when their work was completed, it turned out they actually installed cheap plastic vents. The person who was responsible for the project even argued to me that plastic vents are not different than the metal vents in terms of functionality. A few years later, since squirrels and a raccoon damaged several plastic vents, we had leaks in the roof. I called the RYR company for warranty repairs. However, they refused to respect they warranty and quoted a high price for replacing plastic vents with the metal vents. When I pointed to the president of RYR that they promised me to install metal vents years ago, before they replaced the old roof, he was rude and verbally aggressive. After this painful experience, I had to hire another company and pay more than $1000 for replacing all plastic vents with the reliable metal vents. I learned that the warranty certificate that the RYR provides is useless, that they install cheaper parts to cut their expenses, and you cannot ask them to fix their mistakes.

Dear Mikhail, Roof replacement was completed in August 2018, and the entire scope of work was performed as per the detailed written contract. The vents installed during roof replacement are industry-standard polypropylene Duraflo roof vents, which do not condense in winter and are commonly used for asphalt shingle roofs. When specific products are requested, we always reflect that in the contract. In April 2023 we received your email stating that the roof was leaking, and the warranty service call was scheduled. Upon roof inspection, we traced the leak to the shingles around the vents, which had been torn apart by squirrels/raccoons. The vents themselves were intact and in perfect condition. Note that the damage and condition of the roof and vents were documented. The photos of the roof were provided to you showing the proof of animal damage. Ten-year workmanship warranty, which was provided at the time of roof replacement covers ordinary wear and tear through the elements, and improper workmanship in the installation of the roofing system; animal damages are NOT covered by warranty as clearly stated in the written contract. Furthermore, during the warranty service call, it was also discovered that there were improper repairs completed by the owner damaging the vents, plumbing stack flashings, and shingles with wood screws installed overtop in an attempt to secure damaged shingles. This itself would technically void the warranty altogether as per contract terms. Instead, we provided you with a reasonable quotation to perform all necessary repairs. The quotation was rejected. During the entire process, we had been in back-and-forth communication with you regularly and have proof in writing of how aggressive you had been towards crew members and administrative staff. We do not tolerate that behaviour at our company in turn having to have the manager intervene to resolve and diffuse the situation. -Royal York Roofing

Roof Replacement
I hired Royal York Roofing 7 years ago for a different project and was very happy with their work back then. So, when my roof was leaking and water was coming into the house, I knew who to call. RYR was swift to quote me and they were able to prioritize my emergency job quickly. They fit me into their schedule within a week. While onsite, the crew was very thorough and meticulous. They did not rush the job; protected windows/shrubs with plywood and did a comprehensive yard cleanup afterwards. They are a very professional team and I would recommend them to anyone.

Roof replacement
We had a tree accident the roof was damaged we needed to replace the whole roof. Royal roofing responded very fast and the job was done professionally. We are very happy

Roof replacement (asphalt shingles- steep roof pitch & portion flat roof)
Excellent experience with Royal Roofing from the initial quote through to job completion. Work was delayed a couple weeks due to weather but they did a great job staying in touch and updating the timing. Crew was great - completed the work ahead of schedule. Did a great job cleaning the work site each evening and at job completion. I would highly recommend them and found them easy to deal with, great quality and fair price. They fully stand behind their work and fingers crossed I never need to use the warranty services but nice to know if there are problems, they will be there to help.

Water issue.
We detected what we thought was a small roof leak and called Royal Roofing who had replaced our roof some 6 years ago. The technician whose name was Roman I believe did an inspection and determined that the roof was in great condition. He then volunteered to do an attic inspection and showed us photos of what appears to be mold which we are about to have remediated. I thank Roman for going above and beyond his duties to help nip this situation in the bud.

Gazebo shake roof reno
Our 20 year old gazebo roof was in sad shape and we needed a whole new roof. Royal York Roofing is one of the few roofer that do cedar shakes and we gave the job to them. They did the job in a professional, timely manner. We were especially impressed with the way they cleaned the job site each night before leaving. The little extra touches such as the metal cladding on the cupola we’re especially nice. We are really enjoying our gazebo again and highly recommend Royal York Roofing.
