    Unclogged kitchen sink drain

No issues with the professionalism or service of the representative doing the work. They located the issue with our kitchen drain (calcification) and snaked it. The issue is largely with price, which included a service package to get a "preferred" rate. It cost more to unclog the drain than it did to get our air conditioner moved this year, and the latter appeared to be significantly more effort on the part of the company doing the work.

    Over priced

Service man was polite but he had a very bad odour like he just came out of a furnace. The price was ridiculous for what took him less than 20 minutes to complete. Took pictures of places he had no business being. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

    HVAC

I called Bosco to fix a problem with the vents. There was limited air coming out of some vents in the living room, and the room was cold. They came, charged a diagnostic fee, but wanted to charge me 109 to clean the furnace, 109 to clean the EAC, 53 service call, 350 for a camera fee that they would have to come back for, plus whatever extra labour afterwards. This is all BEFORE taxes. Over $700 and no sign of the problem being fixed, because "the furnace and the vents were completely different issues". Very unsatisfied. Needless to say I did not get them to do any work on my house. I went with another company and got quoted for less than half of what Bosco was charging me. I was still required to pay Bosco $53 for the service call.

    Poor followup, poor attitude

I've been using Bosco (Gold plan) for many years now. I’ve mostly been happy with the service. They are, on occasion, outrageously expensive, so we have to be careful about what we need done. Lately, however, I've had a few service calls that have made me re-think whether I want to continue using them. At our previous home last summer we had a service call where the technician completely mis-diagnosed the problem. We eventually needed a a major drain line repair (house to street). He tried to sell us a new toilet. While it may have been a cheaper “fix” it was the wrong one to suggest. With a major expense looming I called in three companies to provide an estimate. In the end, they were all pretty much the same. The difference was in the attitude. The guy from Bosco seemed completely disinterested. On the other hand, the guys from Rooter (who eventually did the repair) were super friendly and responsive. Fast forward to November, and we moved to a new home. I had Bosco out to check the plumbing and furnace. We had a humidifier pad and furnace filter replaced for $300. I have no idea if that’s a lot but we just wanted it done. The squirrel cage on the furnace needed repair so the technician said he would look into whether it was still under warranty (the furnace was manufactured in 2009). He asked that I email him in a day or two, which I did. A few weeks went by with no response so I called into the main number and explained the situation. I was told it would be looked into. Another week goes by and I go through the same thing. Today, I call in a third time and am told the technician informed the office on November 10th (almost a week ago) that the furnace is not covered under warranty. He was supposed to call me and let me know. Yet I received no such call. I explained to the CSR that Bosco did not handle this well, and this is poor service for someone on a “Gold” plan. She didn’t seem particularly concerned. Chances are they will not do my furnace repair at all, even if it means I pay more with someone else. One other note on follow-up. During the plumbing inspection we were told that Bosco now does windows and doors. We said we were interested but no one followed up. So, Bosco, you lost business there as we went with another company. I’m sorry that Tony (plumber) is retiring in a few months. He’s the one bright spot with Bosco.

    Bathtub drain snaking

Have always thought this company was a little on the pricey side. Recently had a partially clogged bathtub drain and regrettably didn't send him away and call another plumber. If I had been told on the phone beforehand, there is NO WAY I would have agreed to this price. Feeling completely ripped off! How do they justify this cost for not even one hour of work? Won't be calling them again!

    Kitchen faucet replaced

Had a kitchen faucet replaced with another one I had. The service man was there less than an hour. Straight replacement, no complications. How can you justify $323.00 labour for less than one hour.

    Toilet Repair

I had not used Bosco before, so this was a trial. Clearly they are not the cheapest but they promise high levels of service. In my case the service broke down as the scheduled appointment was missed as the plumber failed to arrive. Here's where it got interesting. Firstly the mistake was admitted immediately and a second plumber was dispatched; secondly once the issue was reviewed by management they were probably more upset than I was at their service breakdown and they reduced the cost by half. So Bosco is a company that charges more for proficiency and service AND if they don't deliver then they address the issue and offer recompense. They walk the talk. The work by the way was completed efficiently and quickly one the second plumber arrived. Certainly Bosco did enough for me to give them another trial.

    Air Conditioner

I have a gold membership with Bosco which covers them coming out to look at my air conditioner, furnace and plumbing drains. So I don't pay for the service call, only for parts and labor if needed. For the last two years the service has been good. Guys came out a couple of times to service the furnace and air conditioner and to test the drains. No issues, good service until now. Yesterday my air conditioner stopped working. Bosco sent a guy today who found the problem fast, great right? The problem was a blown capacitor. The guy tried to charge me $350.00 for a new one, after telling me this was discounted from $500. I said no. I bought a capacitor for $20 at a local supply store. That mark-up is clearly a rip off.

    Replace Bay Window

I contracted with Bosco to replace my bay window. Tony and James showed up around 10:30 am and didn't stop until 9:00. They were meticulous in their workmanship - right down to cleaning the windows. Price was right and these guys worked hard. Sooooo Happy with my window!

    Gas Line Repair

During a small water leak repair in our basement ceiling, our plumber detected the faint smell of gas. We called Enbridge immediately and our line was "red-tagged". With 2 small children, we needed to have our gas line fixed immediately. Kevin from Bosco Home Services came a few hours later and saved us! He found the source of the leak and repaired our gas line in a matter of hours. Not only was Kevin efficient, professional, courteous, and diligent, he was also an incredibly nice guy!!! Our service was restored later that night. I would definitely recommend Kevin!
