    Leaky Kitchen & Bathtub Faucets

A few weeks ago my tenants told me they had a NEW kitchen faucet leak as well as a bathroom faucet leak/drip (long standing). On the word of mouth of my sister, I arranged for a quote & repair with BOSCO HOME SERVICES. After my appointment was setup - I read MULTIPLE reviews on here, and despite noticing somewhat high prices eg $400-600 for similar repair work, I took heart & comfort in the glowing reviews about one of their techs "M"- and thus in speaking with their dispatcher I requested "M" specifically, which they happily accommodated. When "M" finally arrived to my tenants home the day of, he was punctual which I appreciated. After about 30 minutes he called me back and described in detail the problems/repairs needed to fix both faucets. And then - I KID YOU NOT - without batting an eyelid, in the most SERIOUS but kindest voice EVER - he gently quoted me... (drum roll please)... wait for it..... $1000+TAX (incl parts & labour) TO REPLACE THE KITCHEN FAUCET as well as.......!! Another $1100+TAX to replace the BATHTUB FAUCET! Yes - that is a grand total of OVER $2000 PLUS TAX to replace 2 leaky faucets. I literally DIED on the spot. UNBELIEVABLE. When I repeatedly asked why the price was so high (because I had budgeted in MY mind b/t $400-$800 ALL IN for BOTH repairs) M explained seeing as it's an old condo my factory original Delta kitchen faucet was hardwired directly into the condo's water supply line THUS they would have to "cut" the lines and put a new valve adapter etc... but at least I'd be getting a SPANKING NEW fancy faucet with sprayer. He also said the Mixet bathtub faucet was old, parts could not be found to repair it so it'd have to be replaced - and this would mean cutting tile, lots & lots of "labor" intensive work YADDA YADDA. I hate that L word! UGH. THUS a quote for 2 GRAND for 2 faucet REPLACEMENTS. I think I was silent on the phone for a good 10 seconds - BREATHLESS. AND it didn't end there. In fact, when "M" noticed I was still choking in silent despair over the skyrocket pricing - he kindly OFFERED me a way to "save" money - i.e. me paying out another $70-$100 for some annual "Gold" package they have for repeat customers - which would end up "saving" me about $100-$200 off the current estimated work. AT THAT POINT - it was just TOO MUCH. I could not WAIT to come off the phone. AND YET the conversation dragged ON and ON as I tried bravely to see if repairs could be done (instead of replacement) - and M continued to try to UPSELL me on the "Gold" package AS WELL AS the actual work.Mike ALSO said it would take "the better part of a day" for ALL the work to be done. SMH. Finally after being on the phone with M for over 30 minutes I authorized him to charge my credit card for the diagnostic/ assessment fee ONLY ($55). I eventually had to RUSH him off the phone with some false promise of needing to talk the pricing over with my co-owner/partner (my mom). YEA RIGHT. But instead - I went back Homestars.com - found another legit/reputable contractor w/ equally rave reviews - and the NEXT DAY they did they replaced the kitchen faucet for $180+ tax in LESS THAN 30 MINUTES, and quoted me $450 to fix the bathtub faucet. YES YOU HEARD ME - I ended up doing 1 of 2 of the repairs for about 1/5 of the price Bosco Home Services quoted me!! THAT TO ME - is just CRAZY. And I really do NOT understand why or HOW BOSCO quoted me so INSANELY high for their services - compared to what I actually paid! TO ME - I feel like they tried to pull a fast one on me. Maybe because I am a landlord? Regardless, I am not Donald Trump or Bill Gates to just be spending crazy money on minor repairs. SO NO WONDER I am SO NOT impressed with them, I will never use them again, will NEVER refer them to ANYONE ever and my sister has been turned off from them completely. 2 customers lost in 1 shot! Air Conditioning

On Tuesday May 28th, 2013 two Bosco Home Services Technicians attended at my house for a previously booked appointment for a spring preventative maintenance check up for my central air conditioning system. Last fall I purchased a one year maintenance plan from this company. The one technician told us the second technician was a trainee. The trainer identified himself as Jay. Both men were very courteous and explained that it was very important that we be completely satisfied with their service. They told my wife and I they were going to go outside first to check the exterior portion of the system and then they would come back inside. It is important to mention that my air conditioning system had been operating perfectly and cooling our house very well for two weeks before these two technicians arrived. After about 20 minutes Jay came to the door and asked that I go outside to the A/C unit with him. When he took me to the unit he said I'm afraid your A/C system has a leak and it has lost a lot of coolant. I asked if they could find the leak. Jay advised me that it could take up to eight hours to find the leak and he could not guarantee success. He also told me the unit would require a Puron charge to replace the lost coolant. He estimated I would need up to 8 or 9 pounds of Puron at $136.00 per pound. In addition it would cost me $929.00 for the leak test. A vacuum and pressure test would cost another $179.36. To repair the lineset would cost another $250.00. He suggested this was a very costly repair process and said I would be far better to replace my entire A/C system. He offered me 3 choices for new A/C systems ranging in price from $4260.00 to $5375.00. All of these dollar values were listed on a Bosco Home Services Invoice estimate form. I mentioned to him that the system had been working perfectly prior to his arrival and that my wife and I would discuss our options before making any decisions. Then he and his associate took me outside again to show me that the pressure readings were very low on my A/C system. They proceeded to close up the outside unit and put the panel back on and then left. After the two men left my home I no longer had a working A/C system there was no cooling at all and only the fan was working and blowing warm air out of our air ducts. The next day I called another A/C company who came and in my presence opened up the outdoor unit and said sir I can tell you why your A/C unit is not working. The technician said has anyone looked at your A/C system recently? I said yes that Bosco Home Services had worked on the unit the day before. He then proceeded to inform me that the "Low Pressure Switch" (LSP) had been disconnected He told me when this switch is disconnected that the system believes the unit has lost coolant (refrigerant -Puron) and automatically shuts off the compressor preventing cooling from taking place. He attached the cable back on to the Low Pressure Switch. He then did a pressure test on the A/C unit and spent over an hour checking many different aspects of the system in my presence. At the end he reported that the system was fully charged and did not require recharging and that it had not lost any refrigerant. He further reported that the A/C system is working perfectly and requires no service. It is important to note that I installed this as a brand new system only six years ago. It does not take a lot of intelligence to figure out what happened here. I will leave it to the readers of this review to determine if they want to give their business to Jay and his Bosco Home Services Team in the future. I know they will never be invited to my home again to perform any kind of service again even though I have a prepaid service plan in place with them now. Stewart (A very unhappy customer)

    Plumbing/ Drain work

Work Order #1 We needed a number of things repaired / replaced including a toilet, main shut off, faucets and shut-off values. This was our first time doing business with Bosco Home Services. Tony M. did all the work. He was professional, patient and willing to answer all our questions. He did excellent work, cleaned up everything and we were so pleased we signed up for the Home Service plan. We were extremely pleased with all the work and he made himself available on a Saturday to get everything done. Thanks Tony, we gladly recommend you & Bosco to anyone needing plumbing services and repair work done. . Work Order # 2 We needed to fix our main sewer pipes as tree roots had caused a major problem. Tyler R., assisted by Chad, came to our house to do the work including the installation of a backflow preventer. Tony M. had been dispatched to perform diagnosis and had done previous work for us. He introduced us to Tyler and Chad and together they patiently explained what the issues were and the various options available to us. Tyler was very helpful, professional and together with Chad ensured the work was completed on time, They had do go thru and replace the concrete in an area of our basement in order to install a new cleanup pipe with backflow preventer. Professional, on time, service. Once done, the work area was cleanup out that you wouldn't know they had even been there. Great work. Thank you Work Order #3 We had to fix out drain/sewer pipe as it had been clogged by tree roots. Graydon was assigned to do this work. Tony M. had been involved with us from prior work and the diagnosis on this particular problem. Once we had decided to have the pipe relined Graydon came by the house and was introduced to us by Tony. Graydon came the next day to do the relining with Paul. They were on time, professional, willing to answer any questions we had. It is always disruptive to have this kind of work done as you can't used the system of course until the work is completed. the liner was left over night under pressure to 'cure' and Graydon returned the next day with Wade to complete the work as planned. As with our previous experience Bosco Home Services, Graydon was timely, professional, courteous and together with Paul and later Wade worked hard to complete the work, clean up everything and fully test everything before they left. Again, thank you for an excellent job. Later that day, Tony M. came by, as he said he would to ensure we were totally satisfied with all the work that had been done and we definitely were. Thanks guys. Great work.

    BOSCO HOME SERVICE

Jesse, Bosco Home Service technician, did a superb job on tuning the furnace and A/C. He was extremely knowledgeable, efficient, polite, and cleaned up after himself. He even went out of his way to repair a problem with an ill-fitting duct piece. Bravo to Jesse.

Repair call to fix two toilets

I just paid $55.37 for a service call where no work was done due to the very, very high prices quoted by the plumber before he started his work. He arrived on time; looked at the work to be done & then went out to his truck for over 45 minutes to prepare his estimates to repair and/or replace my two toilets. His quotation of $550.00 for parts & labour to replace $70.00 (max) of parts was astounding. I am used to plumbers who charge for time & materials. This fellow wasted 1 hour and 40 minutes of my time & didn't do a thing other than collect his $49 dispatch fee. He could have fixed the 2 toilets & been on his way in less than 40 minutes.

    replacement water heater

My water heater and exhaust was recently replaced; the professionalism, and punctuality that Joe and his Bosco team demonstrated was truly remarkable. Not only did Bosco arrive on-time but they actually called me to see if they could come one hour and a half before the scheduled appointment time. The work was performed exactly as as it was described in the quotation. There were NO pricing surprises.....no nickle and dime extras. The Bosco boys arrived on time, did the job exactly how they quoted it, cleaned up after themselves, and went away.......too easy! Even the follow-up was very thorough; the folks at Bosco really wanted to know that my needs were met and that I was truly satisfied with the work. They made me smile.

    Main drain backup

Very prompt and efficient service. Called late on a Sunday night to report the problem and Bosco had a representative at our home first thing Monday morning. The job was completed in a timely manner and they made sure that the job was explained to me as they were progressing. A second representative arrived on short notice to scope the drain to ensure everything was satisfactory. All of this was completed at a very reasonable cost. I would recommend Bosco to anyone with a similar problem.

    Furnace Maintenance

Henry L. came to do the maintenance on my furnace. When he had finished I felt I had had the visit of one of my best friends. He very politely introduced himself. He kept me informed of the maintenance he did and gave me some worthy advice. I wish all service people were as proficient and thorough as Henry was on his visit. What a great ambasador for Bosco Home Services and that is why it has earned my confidence and respect. Roger L.

    installation new low flow toilets

Thrilled with the work. It was similar to what a home improvement box store and a home contractor quoted us - perhaps a bit more but not much. However Rob R was professional and thorough. Gave us a heads up before the project that we could have a problem given the age of our home - which we did. The work was done on time and on budget. Any hiccups were identified and resolved on the spot. I have seen the complaints on this site about higher prices but to be honest I would rather pay a bit more (and this was not unreasonable) to have the work done properly and professionally the first time. We had a horrible experience with home improvement box store contractor who installed a screen door that was never resolved. When the office called to confirm the appointment they mentioned they were sending a picture of Rob in advance so I would know who to expect when I answered my door the first time. How thoughtful is this? Especially important to women who live alone and need home services. I am very happy with what I paid and what I received. Would highly recommend Bosco Home Services and Rob Raimondo.

Kitchen Faucet Install & Leak Repair

We were repeat customers. The 1st job was a clogged drain which was quickly resolved and a fair amount charged. The 2nd job was to remove an old kitchen faucet and replace with a new one we had bought and to repair a leaky shower fixture, again they came quickly and did a good job but the charges were quite high, I guess we had to pay for the fast service. The purpose of this review is to advise others that their rates are quite astronomical so be prepared. Based on our first experience we left these repairs until the last minute thinking the rates would be reasonable and didn't check around, we certainly will do that next time.
