    Electrical Work

I have been fortunate enough to have had a chance to work with Bill 3 times. The first time I called Bill, it was based on the Homestars reviews. We were contemplating putting a bid on a house that supposedly has about 5% knob and tube wiring. We wanted to know how much something like this may cost us in the future. I was a bit apprehensive as the purpose of the call is to consult an expert and not necessarily to hire one so was expecting a rude or fast reply. I was pleasantly surprised that Bill answered the phone and took the time to explain the possibilities of what the inspection may mean and the possible costs. The second time, we were already in the house and had Bill come in to take a closer look for one of our visits prior to closing. He was at the appointment on time and took his time explaining to us what he discovered. He was also very patient in answering all our concerns. At this point, we have not yet hired or paid Bill for any work. Yet we have been treated with the utmost professionalism, organization and respect. All emails and phone calls were returned and answered on time. We finally had a small electric job and went to Bill and his team for their expertise, even though it wasn't knob and tube related. Steven came in on time, and did the work we asked with minimal disruption. In fact, while he was installing our light fixture, he noticed that the (newly unopened) box wasn't complete. So we had to drive to the store (which was 30 min away) to get the part. Steven left, and came back to finish installing the fixture, without an extra penny to the original price quote! Working with Bill and his team has been such a breeze. I wish that they did more than electrical work so I can just go with them for all our needs!

    Answer from pro:

That is Bill he has trained us all well. He showed me this review and told me to respond-Thank you for the nice words. It is nice to hear these things about our work. Steven

    Knob and Tube Removal

We were very pleased with the service provided by KNT. Bill provided a detailed cost breakdown of the job and made several very helpful suggestions re wiring improvements. The work was completed within the time period that we were given. His crew arrived promptly each morning and set to work immediately. They were quiet, neat and totally professional! Bill addressed all our concerns with no hesitation (even my pesky questions). We would recommend KNT to anyone - we were so lucky that we selected this firm to remove the knob and tube from our home.

    Knob and Tube Replacement

After buying a new home, we needed to replace all of the knob and tube wiring. KNT Electric was very transparent with costs and timelines which made planning easy. Our old home had many quirky features (e.g., switches and receptacles is strange places) that were re-positioned in an intelligent way. After we purchased new light fixtures on our own, they replaced them at no extra cost. Everyone who comes through our house is shocked at how few holes needed to made. Bill and all other workers were very clean, honest, and kind. After this experience, I would not only recommend KNT Electric, but would also advise potential home owners not to be afraid to buy a house that has knob and tube.

    Answer from pro:

Thank- you we try to make small holes- even though it takes longer

Knob and Tube Replacement, Pot light installation

We recently bought an old Toronto home, and the home inspection indicated that there was "some" knob and tube present (and the selling agent told us it was less than 5%). We decided to have it replaced before moving in, but after getting a few quotes from electricians it became evident that about 75% of the house was knob and tube! After accepting our fate, we chose Bill's team to do the job because of the way he conducted himself during the quote process and because of his fantastic Homestars reviews. He came in and walked through the house while making a floor plan, noting all the light fixtures and outlets. He then sat us down and explained that knob and tube is totally safe to keep in the house, but if we still wanted to have it replaced then his quote would include having everything updated to meet the current ESA code requirements. He was very thorough with his explanations of what work would need to be done and why, as well as transparent with costs. He was also just generally a very easy-going and trusting person, and we knew immediately that we would want to work with him. His quote came in with a very detailed breakdown of each piece of work and cost. The total cost was comparable to other quotes we received, but we were more comfortable because we knew exactly what we would be paying for with KNT. Bill’s team (Hugo, David, Tim, and all the others) were a pleasure to work with, always very attentive and helpful and efficient. They were tidy and worked quickly each day. Bill came by almost every day to check up on how things were progressing, and to answer any questions we had. We had many changes, additions and unexpected things come up during the 6 days they worked on our house (you never know what you’ll find behind the walls!), but Bill always offered us good explanations for what was happening and options for how to resolve. His team also did a great job patching up the many holes, including matching the pattern in the ceiling plaster as well as filling in parts of the baseboard where older outlets used to be installed. In addition to the knob and tube removal, we also had his team install bathroom exhaust fans, pot lights and Ethernet cables throughout the house. We have been so pleased with all of their work. Bill and his team have been a real pleasure to work with. We highly recommend!!

    Total Knob and Tube removal

When we bought our house an inspection report identified knob and tube was present and probably needed to be removed. It wasn't until I was trying to switch out a light in our entranceway that I realized how widespread the knob and tube was. We got some quotes from different electricians and there was a huge range. In one of the higher quotes we were told there was no guarantee that key architectural details in our home could be saved. Fortunately for us KNT was doing a job right across the street from us. I called the number and Bill got back to me in a timely manner and walked me through a big electrical upgrade at the house. It was of similar age and he reassured me that he would be able to preserve our home's historical features. I am so glad we went with Bill and his crew. From the start of the job to the finish we really felt taken care of. They put paper down to protect the floors, they were punctual, conscientious and hard working, often staying late in order to get the job done. It was a big job and true to his word he preserved all key features including curved ceilings and lathe and plaster effects. Filling the holes was included in the price which was really helpful. Throughout the process we were consulted on important decisions and never felt taken advantage of. They talked us out of extra expenses like upgrading to 200 amp service. They stayed on budget and met all deadlines. We had good follow-up experiences as well. When I realized an outdoor plug had stopped working Bill arranged to have it fixed in short order. This work was done over a year ago and we have had no concerns since and I can't tell you how great it is to have the piece of mind of knowing that our knob and tube was replaced properly. He fixed work that previous electricians had botched, re routing several switches to preferable locations, simplifying some light circuits and recommending a quieter bathroom fan were all excellent suggestions. He wasn't the cheapest but he wasn't the most expensive and I really can't imagine anyone doing a better job. I recommended him and his team for another job on our street and I know they had the same experience. It's so gratifying to be able to write a glowing review for someone who deserves your business. I'm sorry it took me so long to get this up Bill. Congratulations to you and your crew and thanks for your expertise and attention to detail.

    knob and tube replacement

Bill and his crew did a great job replacing all the knob and tube wiring in our older home. His team was able to do this causing minimal damage to our existing walls and ceilings. From the get go Bill laid out a plan and was very transparent in his pricing. We received honest answers and good advice. The project was completed on time and on budget. We would not hesitate to hire KNT Electric again for any electrical work we need.

    Removal of Knob and Tube

From start to finish it was a very good experience with Bill. He explained everything, the items he would do, how long the work would take and the cost of each item of work. He was always easy to get hold of and communicates the status of the work daily. They did the entire house and the clean up work is impeccable. I never had a worry of the work being done correctly with Bill's company. Entire crew were courteous and helpful.
