    Knob and tube replacement

I recently purchased an old home in Toronto and I wanted the knob and tube wiring replaced as soon as I moved in. I chose KNT Electric on the strong recommendation of a good friend who had KNT Electric do the same type of work in her home. When Bill came to provide an estimate, he was on time, took about half an hour to explore the house, and walked me through all the work that would be done. He followed up shortly afterwards with a written estimate detailing every item of work. At the time of the estimate, I wasn't sure if I wanted optional work done (e.g. installing pot lights and extra receptacles), but when Bill, Tim and the rest of the team came to start the 6-day job, Bill and I went through every room and reviewed my options and I was able to decide then. Even on Day 2 when I decided I wanted an extra receptacle in a room where they already started work, Bill accommodated my request. Knob and tube replacement inevitably required making holes in my walls and ceilings - and was dusty work - but I was so impressed with how little was disrupted. Like others have said on this site, they are like surgical experts. When it was time to patch the holes, the patching was done very well with the exception of two large holes where old wall sconces had been, but when I told Bill that I was concerned about these two spots, he had his team redo them and the end result was fantastic. Overall, they did a wonderful job. Bill was responsive to my questions, provided change orders along the way so there were no surprises, and was very accommodating. I am so happy I had this work done and even happier that I chose KNT Electric for the work. It was all worth it!

    upgrading my electric service

KNT provided an honest, reliable service. The quote for the work was reasonable and the work was carried out efficiently and in a timely fashion. I felt I could totally trust KNT to carry out the work as promised.

replacement of knob & tube wiring

KNT Electric went well beyond our expectations and we were highly satisfied with the result. Both the owner and staff were very courteous and efficient. They worked very diligently and very cleanly with little disruption to our family. Quotation and job details were fully transparent and as built changes were reflected in final cost. In addition to replacement of knob and tube, KNT also made numerous changes to improve upon the functionality of the previous system for better convenience and a real sense that we now have both a safer home and an upgrading living space.

    Knob and Tube replacement

I hired Bill and his team to replace the old Knob and Tube in our recently purchased house in Toronto. First, Bill is always VERY punctual in returning to your questions -- whether through email or by phone (and unlike other contractors we contacted to do the job). Overall, they did an excellent job and did it in half the time that everyone else quoted (for the same price). We also paid them to patch the holes -- and they did a good job there as well. Bill is very clear in what he is going to charge you and what it is for. If anything changes (he will also take things off that aren't necessary) he will immediately send you a new itemized cost sheet. I highly recommend Bill and his team.

    Removal of knob and tube

Bill and his team were perfect to work with. Bill is a person of integrity who's team are exemplary. KNT Electric were reliable, on time, dependable and a pleasure to have hired. Their workmanship is meticulous. I also liked how Bill detailed his invoices, so that we knew exactly what he charged us for. Thank you Bill and your team for doing such outstanding work removing the knob and tube wiring, and rewiring our home to meet ESA standards. We definitely will use you in future. Ryan and Gwen Friedman.

    Full Knob and Tube replacement

Bill and his team are surgeons. Bill and his team replaced all of the knob and tube from our newly purchased 80 year old Kingsway home in 5 days and when they were done it was hard to tell where any holes had been made. Bill provides a very easy to work with matrix of pricing so that we could easily add and remove items and see the change to our budget without any surprises. This experience was the complete opposite of what I had expected and had heard regarding knob and tube replacement and I would never hesitate to buy a house with knob and tube knowing Bill is available to remove it quickly and affordably. A true professional and a pleasure to work with. Thanks Bill! Ken and Vanessa Morris.

    Aluminum Wiring Removal

Because of aluminum wiring in our 1971 house, our insurance company for over 20 years recently reduced the level of coverage available to us. Shortly after, the owners of a house that sold in our neighbourhood had to negotiate a reduced sale price after the home inspection identified aluminum wiring. We decided to replace our aluminum wiring and selected Bill Tang for the job because of his extensive experience with wiring replacement, the excellent reviews of his work, his professionalism when he visited the house and the transparency of his pricing for the job. We were very pleased with our selection of Bill. He and all his team made an intrusive job as smooth and clean as possible. We were always kept up to date with job progress, problem areas that developed and were regularly consulted on locations of switches and receptacles. Quite a few holes had to be made in the walls, but the ESA inspector commented favourably on how small they were and the patching done by KNT was excellent. Each evening, the house was left with full power and the main living areas clean. They were right on schedule both starting and finishing the job and were punctual every day. They followed up well in addressing our check list at the end of the job and were very thorough with the final cleanup of the house. Bill's costing for the original estimate and the changes that happened through the work was very transparent and easy to follow. We found him very fair in giving credits for work that was originally estimated but not required and for doing some things that weren't estimated for no charge. This experience is unique among the contractors we've dealt with previously. We highly recommend Bill Tang and the whole team at KNT Electric.

We are always happy to help with solving clients insurance issues. Especially with all the recent ice damage and flooding-that will surely effect premiums. Mindful of costs our estimates always reflect minimum replacement meeting code requirements. We have no problem crediting if the work is not required. We try to be transparent with our pricing and presentation. Thank you for your kind words

    Knob and Tube re-wire

Bill and Tim helped us with a full knob and tube rewire, added pot lights, and patched up the holes. After interviewing a few contractors, we picked KNT because of their professionalism, transparency, and fair pricing. They provided a detailed quote at the outset, with fully transparent, itemized pricing for all the work. Did they a great job and with minimal disruption, all things considered. We were able to live in the home throughout. The work took about a week and they provided a progress report almost daily. This was very helpful as it showed any additional work that was needed, as well as work which was originally quoted but not required. So there were no surprises when the invoice was finalized. It was a little dusty but this is not entirely surprising give the job and they made a decent effort to keep things wrapped in plastic and to clean up daily. They were able to fish through wire in order to rewire receptacles and lighting while making surprisingly small holes (which we asked them to patch). They also helped us to remove a few baseboard heaters at no charge - much appreciated. Communication was very prompt - when we called, texted or emailed, they always got back quickly. The work took a bit longer than originally expected because we asked for additional services part way through - pot lights and patching. They were able to accommodate this in their schedule. The ESA inspection passed without any issues. I would have given a 10 out of 10 but I had to touch up a few basement ceiling tiles that were removed for the job and then replaced. Not a big deal; most people would probably just painted them over, but I am a bit of perfectionist and filled them in with plaster first :)

Glad that we were able to help. We always try to minimize the disruption to tenants and do what can to keep them happy. Hope you and your wife enjoy the neighbourhood

    Sub panel installation

We had Bill and team completely remove all the knob and tube wiring and install a sub panel in August. Here is why you need to hire Bill over the rest: customer service and pride in workmanship! In late October, I emailed Bill to ask him why the sub-panel was shutting off all the time. He showed up at my house a few hours later (at 9pm on a Sunday night!) and sent someone to fix the issue the next day. It's rare to get such great service, and followup customer service - even months after the job!

That was my dad. Always going that extra step. I just noticed we did not respond to this review. (over 10 years) better late than never)
