Had Knob and Tube removed from 2 floors of 1930's home. The team is very knowledgeable and worked well on a timeline. My insurance company gave me 30 days to get it removed and KNT had it done in less than a week. It has now been a month since it was completed and everything is working fine. I chose them over the competitors because of their attention to detail and price breakdowns. Some companies just walked in and told me a price. KNT went room by room, took diagrams and tested every outlet and switch. That's what won me over. The weren't the cheapest, but I felt good with my decision. I also paid extra to have them fill in the holes in the drywall. Well worth the hassle of doing it yourself as there were a large amount of holes. I did have them come back to fill 2 holes missed, and also to paint over a few markings they left on a wall in a room they did no work in. It did take a few emails, but they did come and took care it. My suggestion to those looking to book these guys, is to get a quote for everything being updated PLUS all the extras you want done. i.e. Adding bathroom exhaust fans, exterior outlets, more switches and outlets etc. They told me we'd discuss it later - but then before you know it - the price is a lot more than you anticipated. The cost for installing the bathroom fan price for example was not easily known from looking at the price breakdown sheet. I'd also suggest to fully review their quote - as mine included a few thousand dollars of extras not needed. I believe it was a simple oversight on their behalf and that it was not done on purpose - but good to check obviously. Only other thing is cleanliness. Many floors were covered with plastic, but then some days they were not. Everything was covered in dust (obviously from drywall work being messy), but I suppose I just assumed they would clean everything after. It was my first big contractor job in the house so perhaps I was naive in thinking it would be spotless. Overall, I would recommend this company to my friends.

The service KNT Electric provides is top notch. If you have a knob & tube house that needs to be re-wired, look no further, this is your guy. He completed the work in 5 days (not even business days, 5 total days) with minimum damage to the walls, just a few small holes here and there that he also patched up for me. He provided DAILY progress reports by email and and itemized cost sheet, and was extremely professional and helpful.

We had Bill and his team remove/replace the knob and tube wiring in our home and generally update all the wiring. Bill provided a clear quote for the work prior to starting and was available for questions from day one. Bill and his team were extremely professional, honest and efficient. They explained what needed to be done and why. They provided updates on the progress of the work every evening and cleaned up after themselves daily. We were able to live in the house while the work was being completed. Once the work was completed, our wiring was up to code (checked by the inspector, which was organized by Bill and his team) and our electrical panel was clearly labeled. Even weeks after the work was completed, Bill was still responsive and helpful with any questions we had! We have and will continue recommending Bill and his team to our friends and family.

After getting quotes from a number of electrical contractors, I hired Bill and his team to perform a nearly full re-wiring of my home, replacing all of the existing knob and tube wiring and installing pot lights where desired. This was the right call. They worked quickly and professionally and got the job done without any problems. The best thing was that they did the re-wiring with only minimal intrusions into the ceilings and walls. These were small holes through which they did all of the work. Think laparoscopic surgery rather than a huge incision. This is why Bill’s cost for the project was about half of the quotes from the others, who couldn’t do the job without tearing things apart, requiring extensive rebuilding. I also used Bill later on a small job to install an electrical fireplace. Again, a job well done. To illustrate the integrity of Bill and his team, over a year later I encountered a situation where some electrical outlets stopped working in an area of the house that Bill didn’t work on because it had been previously renovated. His technician came by and quickly discovered a defective wire connection. He fixed the problem immediately and, even though it wasn’t part of his original responsibility, he didn’t charge me for the work. His interest was to ensure that his customer was satisfied. Mission accomplished.

Bill and his crew did the job on time, on budget and without owner supervision (we were away). He was very fair, providing us a credit for work not needed, and made excellent suggestions to get us to code. Thanks to Bill, Tim and his team!

Bill & Crew helped remove all of the old knob and tube wiring, install a new panel, and a bunch of pot lights in our old century house -- the estimate was very fair, the work was flawless and Bill is completely transparent, flexible, and trustworthy. We will definitely hire Bill again, and I strongly encourage you to do the same. You won't regret it!

KNT Electric did a wonderful job at re-wiring our home and removing the old knob and tube from our home. They arrived on time, finished the job on time, were clean, covered all our furniture, did what they said they would do and fixed all the holes they made. We chose Bill and his team to replace the original knob and tube wiring in our 100+ year old home based on the excellent reviews his company had on Homestars. The quote given by KNT was accurate and transparent. Bill advised us every time an addition to the original quote was required and was completely understanding and helpful when change orders were requested. He was upfront and truthful when he told us that our lath and plaster walls could be saved. (This was after asking two other contractors if they would work with plaster, only to be told that they needed to be TORN OUT!) KNT staff arrived on time (in fact they were early every day) they are friendly and are always willing to accommodate the homeowner's requests. They are respectful of personal property and take their time to clean up after each work day. Bill and KNT truly restored our faith in contractors as we have had unpleasant experiences in the past with unscrupulous tradesmen. KNT went above and beyond what they were asked to do and did an excellent job restoring and installing our antique light fixtures. Bill even included small things free of charge, including the installation of extra protection when it was found that our walls contained SAWDUST. The staff at KNT electric are fast, efficient, professional and courteous. This is everything anyone would want in a contractor. We would not hesitate to recommend KNT Electric to anybody with a vintage home that needs knob and tube replacement. KNT will be our electricians of choice from now on. Bill and crew did a great job quickly and on budget for the complete knob and tube replacement in our home. They must use magic tricks to replace the wiring because there were an impossibly small number of very discreet holes (which they expertly patched up). They are entirely professional, respectful of people and property in the home and incredibly accommodating. I highly recommend them and would be happy to speak with anyone considering their services. I am comfortable saying that you will not go wrong hiring them.

Bill Tang and his team were extremely professional, accomodating and helpful. We had a tight timeline before we moved into our house, and found that there was a lot of old knob and tube wiring. They went above and beyond to make our house meet the electrical standards (including replacing all of the knob and tube), and even did a great job patching up all the holes they had to make in our walls - after a little paint we can't even tell where they were. They were extremely pleasant to work with and I would highly recommend their services.
