Built-in Storage Unit
We are very pleased with the built-in storage unit Steven and his team built, and have nothing but admiration and praise for his professionalism, design ability, and craftsmanship. He listened to our ideas and storage needs, and came up with an excellent design for our difficult space (odd angles). We're so pleased with the beauty and function of our unit! We've worked with many tradespeople while renovating our house and Steven has been the very best. Thank you so much! Maria

Laundry Room Cabinets
We found Steven on Homestars and we are absolutely thrilled with the laundry room design and cabinets which he created for us. He is very professional and the quality of his work is outstanding. He was very patient in working with us and truly a pleasure to work with. Installation took a day. No mess and went above and beyond by replacing damaged window trim on his own accord. We were amazed! He is now working on our fireplace mantel and are confident that we will be equally thrilled. We will be using Steven and his team for future projects ! Thank you Steven for all your help and expertise ! It was a pleasure ! Pictures to follow once painting is done !

Media Cabinet - Dinning Room and Downstairs basement
I had sought out two other quotes for three media cabinets and storage units for our new home's dinning area and basement. Steven was by far and away the most responsive, professional, pleasant and capable of the three I spoke with about the work involved. His prices were also extremely reasonable and he was able to provide both a rough drawing of the three units my wife and I were considering along with an estimate on the very same day. When time came to do the work, he called us and contacted us regularly and managed to install two full media units long before his original time estimates which was simply amazing. His crew is no less professional and skilled than he is, and are very respectful of both you and your home while installing. Simply put, we could not be happier with the work done and craftsmanship is second to none. Steven and his crew's attention to detail are astounding. As such, we are currently in the process of planning to have Steven continue with a third media storage unit along with building a fireplace mantle for our gas fireplace. We have nothing but positive things to say and feel very lucky to have found him.

Two reproduction fireplace mantels
We're "unrenovating" our 100 year-old home, and we wanted fireplace mantels that fit the rest of the reproduction trim. We had photos of a mantel from another home in our neighbourhood, and we got EXACTLY what we wanted. Steven asked us to come in to see a mock-up before he built the real deal, and we were able to work through several details that we had overlooked in the specification. Steven and his crew were a joy to work with on installation day. Last-minute decisions were made with the perfect combination of advice and deference. (The customer is always right, but she might need some more information to make her decision!) Upon posting this photo to social media, one friend commented, "looks like it's always been there." There's no better compliment I could receive, and it's all because of the magicians at Black Forest Woodworking. After six years of contractor horror stories, this is one group I will call again and vehemently recommend to anyone that asks.

Fireplace mantle and surround
I found Black Forest Woodworking on Homestars and called for an estimate. Steven seemed to understand what I was looking for and his quote was very reasonable. I could not be more pleased with the final result. Steven was extremely professional and honest. Project was completed in the promised time frame and it is perfect!! I would not hesitate to use Black Forest Woodworking again and I wholeheartedly recommend them.

Bedroom Wall unit
Black Forest Woodworking came highly recommended and they did not disappoint. Stephen was very professional made great design suggestions, was timely, organized, neat and provided a turnkey product. He completed the project ahead of the time alotted and actually made an extra effort to finish. The wall unit was everything and more than we had asked for. We would recommend Black Forest to anyone.

Living Room Wall Unit
Professional, detail orientated, master craftsman, is the best way to describe Istvan and his team. After waiting 12 years to change & up-scale our living room we decided to work with Black Forest based on reviews from Homestars. I cannot express how impressed & grateful we are with the completed work. So much so, that we used Black Forest to create another wall unit for our basement recreation room. I would not hesitate 1 moment in recommending Istvan & his outstanding team!!!!

Ongoing Interior Design Projects With Multiple Clients
I can't say enough great things about Steven and his woodworking company. The work he does is top-notch. He is one of the most positive people I know, and he takes on everything with that positive attitude and with the utmost professionalism. It's hard to find partners you want to work with on a regular basis, and when you do - you hang on to them! I consider Steven to be a great partner of ours at Emily Griffin Design, and we will repeatedly use him as much as we can. His work is truly exceptional.

Fireplace Mantel
We hired Black Forest Woodworking after getting about three other quotes to build a mantel and shelves around a newly installed gas fireplace. The quote was very reasonable and we were impressed by Steven's approach. He listened to everything that we wanted and instilled confidence that he could deliver. He did not disappoint! The majority of the work was done offsite so that the actual disruption in our home was minimal, pretty much one afternoon. The mantel looks great. Everyone who sees it is impressed. We would hired Black Forest Woodworking again without reservation. Steven was a pleasure to work with.

Family Room Wall Unit
Our new wall unit exceeded our expectations! Steven was absolutely amazing to work with. He was professional and always delivers on his promises. The installation was a breeze, the installers left no mess and did a great job as well. We will absolutely be recommending them to our friends and family!
