    Replacing garden doors

Salesperson Sean was very knowledgable of the product. On his recommendation we replaced 2 sets of garden doors with new sliding doors off of our kitchen and formal living room. Installers were on time as promised and Sean came by to make sure that we were happy with the job done. The installation was done to perfection. We have since moved and will be calling on Sean and Northern Windows to replace windows in our new home in the near future.

Thank you David from Northern Comfort Windows & Doors!

Haven't even had my doors installed yet but have loved the service I have received so far. There were so many choices and David helped us narrow them down until we found the ones we fell in love with! He went through every design step with us and I am confident that once it's installed it will look amazing! Thank you for your patience and time David, we can't wait to see our new doors!

Replace garage doors & install sliding walkout

VERY PLEASED with the purchase and installation of our NEW Garage doors and Patio sliding door.   NEW Garage Doors, John and Josh were very professional, courteous and polite and explained what they were doing and how to maintain the NEW GARAGE doors.  Looks GREAT.   INSTALLATION of patio sliding door, Dave and Chris very professional, courteous and polite.  Explained what they were going to do through each phase from cutting the existing exterior brick wall, removal of the window, drywall, etc. to the final finished installation. Finished walkout is a better than we anticipated.  WELL DONE.    If and when we require any further replacements, repairs etc., we will certainly contact Northern Comfort, as well as recommend Northern Comfort to others. new garage and door installation

We are very disappointed with our experience. The new garage doors that were installed constantly jump right before closing causing my automatic system to malfunction - I have to reclose my garages several times and watch to ensure they stay shut. Also, the new front door had a very strong, horrible glue smell (that is probably dangerous to inhale) and a few weeks later, the smell still lingers in my house. The icing on the cake was when I discovered that the small window beside my door is now cracked and I've only had this door for three weeks! Needless to say, this company offered us a horrible experience & the quality of their product is poor for the $$$ we spent.

Window and patio door replacement, install of storm door

Our first contact was with the lovely lady in the Newmarket showroom. I have nothing but great things to say about her, honest, knowledgeable and genuine. In fact, it was because of her we decided to go with Northern Comfort. Although I had done my homework on windows and what to look for she showed us other things to look for especially the little details. Rick was our salesman and he met with my husband for the initial measurement and to assess our wants and needs. So far, so good! We met Rick at the showroom to place our order and pay our deposit. He seemed disorganized and it was then that I was a feeling a little uncertain of our decision but he sat with us and made detailed notes and diagrams until all of us were sure of what we were ordering and expecting. I was a little surprised that Rick was discouraging the install of grills in the windows on the back of our house because "no one sees them". To me it was a case of "I see them" and why are you turning away money, albeit a small amount but if this happens with every client it's going to add up. Moving on...order is placed and then we get the call for the install and the timing was just as they said it would be, GREAT (although Rick didn't know who we were when we called to confirm). The install team comes in and they take out the old windows, install the new ones in great time! All that is left is to do is trim out the windows and address a newly discovered issue with our bay window. Apparently there is a lot of wood rot below the bay window. When we spoke to Rick initially he had mentioned that the install Team would take care of replacing any rotten wood, framing etc as part of the service and showed us an example in the showroom of how the team would frame each window. Unfortunately this comes at an extra cost. It's not the cost that I have an issue with it's how it was handled. We were made to feel like we had done something wrong by the way they had criticized the workmanship and quality of window that had been installed and the way Rick had called to "tell" me in no uncertain terms we "are paying for this". This window was installed before we purchased our home hence the reason it is being replaced. In my mind the gentleman who came to the house and pulled the trim off of the window ought to have made this discovery and addressed it then, this is why we hire the "professionals". The new window is installed and a new lower sill is put in. The gentleman who installed it was so proud of the wood on the lower sill and how great it was going to look once stained and I agreed. However, upon staining it I found that there were several spots where silicone had been spilled onto the wood thus making the stain impermeable so needless to say not as nice as first anticipated. During the install we encountered some nasty winter weather which included freezing rain. The install team worked through it, even when they had to hammer their ladder rungs to break up the ice. I told them that if they had to leave early due to the weather we completely understood but they worked on. After 3 days the work is done and windows are installed. We were to have a walk around with the team to ensure all windows are in working order, that didn't happen. I was shown how to use a lock on the patio door and that was it. Luckily on our initial showroom visit we had been shown how to operate the windows (flip out feature for cleaning). We have since been finding A LOT of debris left behind including sharp metal pieces around the yard. We have a dog and these metal pieces would do a lot of harm to her paws not to mention old insulation and foam if ingested. To me, a company that is selling windows ought to leave the windows looking pristine, even if its just the glass. Not only are we left with filling gaps between the trim and walls, we are filling holes in the trim before we can paint and having to clean the windows inside and out. In summary, we are very hesitant to recommend Northern Comfort for the quality of work but would only for the price point and quality of windows (which is offered by many other window companies).

    Replaced all windows and doors

We were so happy with our salesperson, George. He was very flexible and able to work around our busy schedules. He was honest about prices and products, and made suggestions for what he would choose if it were his home. This helped because we were drastically changing the look of the front of our home and we weren't sure if it would look good (with a large bright blue door and windows without grills...but it looks amazing!) Ernie came out to measure and he was friendly and quick! We appreciated that all of his measurements were perfect! Rod and Clayton installed the windows and doors. The estimated time for the project was 3 days, and it took them the 3 days. We appreciated that they cleaned up each night before leaving. The finishing inside and out were really well done! Rod and Clayton showed genuine kindness and patience with our toddler son, who was very curious about the installation!

    Replace 3 windows

Great service from Northern Comfort, I have used them in the past. Scott & Dan the installers were friendly and professional, they did extra work on one of my basement window frames (which the Builder originally did wrong)!

Gross Incompetence at the Management Level

We ordered a door on September 30. 16 weeks later, it finally arrived...incomplete. Northern Comfort makes it clear on the contract you sign that it takes up to 13 weeks to install a door. We waited 118 days, just over 16 weeks. Apparently, after several weeks, the company realised the door we purchased was not available. They then chose to start the wait period over. That means we went from already waiting a month or so to going back to day one! When the door arrived last Thursday, the installers informed me the screen door had been cut incorrectly and could not be installed. They told me someone would be in touch about when this part would be installed. I have to say, waiting 16 weeks, in clear violation of Northern Comfort's own policy, is bad enough. Then not having the screen door installed is ridiculous. The fact that no one has bothered to call to apologise, offer a refund (we honestly thought the balance we owed at the installation would at least have been waved), or tell us when someone will be coming by to finish the job is just plain awful. I read another review on here in which someone mentioned always having to pursue Northern Comfort to come out and finish a job. Well, it appears we are in the same boat. I will say the rep who came to our house in the beginning was excellent, as were the installers, and the door itself looks fabulous (although it wasn't what we were originally guaranteed we could get). But the head office, in telling us the door we ordered was not available, in starting the wait period over again instead of rushing to get the thing installed by the guaranteed 13 weeks, and then not even bothering to apologise or offer compensation for the lack of a screen door--all of this is unacceptable.

Change bay window into a Patio door.

We had our bay window removed and installed a new Patio door. Jeff and Mike were very professional. They've done a great job and clean the area after the installation was completed.

    Windows

We were so pleased with the service from Northern Comfort Windows and Doors. They were very efficient, explained everything, and had the work done quickly. Clean-up was amazing and it was like they weren't even there, except for the brand-new windows! Thanks again, Northern Comfort! I would recommend you to anyone looking to replacing their windows in the future!
