    Household Mold Inspection

Five stars for Ross Sullivan and MoldServices.ca! We were in the midst of a kitchen renovation when the crew discovered a patch of mold that lurking beneath old wall paper. Before the work could proceed, we needed to have the surface inspected and the mold remediated. Ross Sullivan and his erstwhile crew responded immediately to our call and came to evaluate the situation. Much to our relief, Ross said that the mold was long dead and we could remove the remaining stain ourselves. Even better, much our delight, Ross charged us nothing for evaluation! Clearly, Ross and his company possess integrity in the conduct of their business that is all too rare these days. I will recommend them with the greatest enthusiasm to anybody who needs their services. Andrew Herman

    Mold inspection/recommendation

I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Mold can be a scary subject as a landlord/tenant but they laid out the results in a concise manner and reassured me that everything would be fine with little to no cost. I was also given very specific and practical remedies to keep the mold from returning. Would definitely recommend and will use again if I ever have an issue.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for the review Tony, many people take in too much information about mold and end up scaring themselves unnecessarily. Glad we could help....Cheeers...Ross

    Checking for mold

Ross was very courteous and arrived punctually at the arranged time. He inspected the attic and provided very helpful and thorough comments about its condition. He explained that there was a small amount of mold on the wooden beams but that there was no need to remove it at this time; and that other spots which had made a contractor wonder about mold were natural discolouration.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Michael, sometimes attic mold can stay up there if you fix the source of moisture, if you ever decide to sell it will have to be removed or the home inspector will point it out....Cheers....Ross

    Mold Assessment

Very impressed. Punctual. Professional. Thorough. Would definitely hire again. After the mold assessment, it was clear that no further services were needed. I was concerned that I would be "up-sold" additional services, but I found MoldServices.ca to be transparent and honest.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Trevor, I'm glad you couldn't use our mold removal services and it all worked out for you...Cheers...Ross

    Mold remediation in basement kitchen

Ross went far beyond the two other "top rated" mold remediation companies I found on Homestars when he came to do the free initial inspection and estimate. He spent the better part of an hour not only using his moisture gun on the obviously affected area, but also testing humidity levels in various areas of the house and inspecting other walls, floors, and ceilings to trace back the source of the moisture that had caused the mold. He ensured that his remediation estimate (and eventual 1-day job) would provide appropriate access to the source of the water leak (which was a drain pipe inside a wall) so that the plumber could easily access and repair the leak. Ross even cut small panels of drywall out of the affected area (with our permission) while doing his initial estimate to verify the source of the leak and provide the plumber with early access to stop the leak. Beyond that, he and his colleague were very friendly, very personable, and took their time without working slowly. They even offered to bring us lunch when they made a Subway run for themselves. This was the most positive, pleasant resolution we could have dreamed of for an extremely unpleasant, frustrating situation.

    BATHROOM MOLD DUE TO CONDENSATION

From the time I picked up the phone to call moldservices to the final recommendations, after inspections & removal, the process has been, in a word - EXCELLENT. After speaking to Kay, Ross was over within a couple of hours to inspect our prolonged mold issues around window & ceiling of our Bathroom. The mold was removed quickly with recommendations on how to ensure it does not return due to condensation and mildew. Thank you Ross for the professional advice including the pictures of the exhaust units you suggest for our size bath.

Ross and his team were fantastic in addressing our mold issues. We called on a Saturday, and he came to inspect within hours. The explanation of the issues and the work that needed to be done was complete and clear, and the mold removal was done quickly and professionally. Follow up was great too, as Ross provided pictures documenting what was done. Highly recommended.

    Mold and condensation problem

Spoke with Kay and she arranged for Ross to come out and take a look at mold and condensation building up in the house after a recent renovation. He was there on time, immediately found the problem was and made suggestions on how to keep it under control. He left us with mold cleaner and paint at no charge to fix up those susceptible areas. After taking his suggestions into account and cleaning up the mold ourselves, the mold has not returned. I would highly recommend Ross. He is knowledgeable and honest and will only recommend what is necessary without trying to add on extra services or repairs that are unnecessary.

Thanks Gus, it's very important in these older Toronto homes to watch the humidity close especially after renovations that change the way the original building was breathing. Thanks for the great review and feel free to call anytime you have questions...Cheers...Ross

    Cold Cellar Mold remediation

My wife and I bought our first home over a year ago with an improperly finished and insulated cold cellar that we knew had mold from the smell upon our first home inspection. We originally got, what I felt was, a pretty high quote from another company so we sealed the room and put the job off. This year I knew it couldn't wait any longer and I'm so thankful I looked on homestars.com. After reading all the positive reviews, I called moldservices on Saturday, Ross came on Sunday and gave an honest assessment and we booked him in within a few days. The day of, he and another worker (didn't get his name, sorry!) arrived a little early which is always good, worked extremely hard and got the whole cold cellar gutted and mold free in the time quoted and with the right equipment. They were up against some pretty nasty bugs and fungus which they handled no problem (much respect!). All for an excellent price, with courteous service. After the removal, Ross was up front and said the space is unusable in its current condition, due to a poor build of our front deck which isn't properly sealed and allows water to seep into the cellar. This also has caused damage to the grout on the cinder block foundation. He showed me the main areas of concern which I may be able to seal from the outside with some caulking, and suggested leaving a dehumidifier in the room to keep moisture at bay. He also noted that mold doesn't grow on cement so I won't have to worry about any mold coming back. Finally he assured me that as long as the moisture is monitored it won't affect the rest of the basement, which is comforting. All said and done, I will highly recommend Ross and his team to anyone who finds themselves in need of mold removal. I'm glad my wife and I now know the true nature of what was behind the drywall, and while it's not pretty, we know what we're up against. Thanks!!

Thanks Colin, I wish I could have left you a cold room worthy of this review. My "after" pictures never do the work justice but I'm glad you were pleased with the outcome.....Cheers...Ross
