    Moving

I really wish I had read these reviews before I hired this company. I hired them because of their promise of a 7 - 10 day delivery. It took them a month. My stuff has arrived scratched, dented, and covered in permanent marker because they carelessly wrote the number 3 on everything. (Mine must have been the third shipment into a container.) They did not wrap in blankets everything they should have. For example, my bedframe and my futon frame both were not wrapped and are now scratched, dented, and marked with black permanent marker. How they managed to beat everything up so badly is beyond me. The sub contractor they hired to deliver my stuff once it got to Calgary (note they did not tell me they were going to hire a sub) was appalled at the state of my belongings. My contact within the company was very nice but completely out of touch with the status of my service. If you are mid-ordeal with this company and wondering where your stuff is try calling the generic number rather than talking to your service person, the guy who picks up the phone in Toronto knows more about when your stuff might arrive. I was quoted 1,200 and paid 2,870. This is because they grossly underestimated the weight of what`s in a one bedroom apartment, but I think all companies will do that. There was a surprise $206 charge the day of because the sub had to park across the street from my building and apparently that invoked a long distance carry charge. Make sure you have room in your budget to not only more than double your quote but also to handle extra charges like that.

    apt move

DO NOT EVER TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!! THEY give you a good quote and then double the price...when you can't pay the increased price they take your belonings. they don't return phone calls or e-mails I even had the Ministry of Consumer Protection involved and they would not return their phone calls either or pick up registered mail. You would be better off sellilng your possessions and buying all new. they left me (a single mother) and my daughter with only the clothes we were wearing on the day of the move...they took all our clothes, furniture, memories, dishes, pots and pans even our food!!! Save yourself some grief don't hire these movers!!!!!

    Moving from Montreal to Calgary

This was one of the worst customer service and they are not even honest with the whole service. They are so polite and pretend to be great to get my business initially, but they do not deliver the service after contract is signed. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. Avoid if you can. Will save you big hassle and pain of dealing with them.

    Vancouver to Toronto

Movers? Really? Worst moving "experience" EVER! Gave me fake weight slips from truck! Not true and fake papers and documents given. They overweight my belongings over 3000 Lbs!!! They tried to charge my credit card 6 times before any service completed. Just stay away from them!! They also run business with another name for "tax purposes" in BC as one of their employee told me . I am sure you can find other companies

Furniture move from AB to NB

Greenland Van Lines have moved us from Coleman Alberta to Salisbury New Brunswick a fairly long and complicated move spanning almost 3 months including storage of furniture somewhere in Toronto. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY for following reasons: 1) Good communication when trying to get our business, very poor communication when problems and complaints have arisen. 2) Greenland was 2 days late to pickup our furniture, so we ended up “camping” for 2 days in our old house with everything packed up. 3) The worst thing happened when scheduled and confirmed delivery by Greenland for August 23rd extended to September 15th, which cost us some $1000 in hotel expenses (Greenland reimbursed us about $500), not to mention all related frustration and problems with my business matters. 4) There was quite few items damaged, couple broken beyond use and one item completely lost. I made a very conservative/modest insurance claim for $650, listing only the more serious damage. Greenland offered me $50 compensation and $120 after I complained. Eventually I refused this ridiculous compensation and decided to write a negative review. In a summary, we are very unhappy customers, pick up somebody else.

    service

I move from Montreal to Toronto, will never use Greenland again, I was quoted a price of $2800.00 end up paying $4000.00 First of all they send a small truck 75% of my stuff came and the rest was left, the balance 25% came after and was put in their storage. After speaking with Berk who was very rude the rest of my stuff was finally delivered. My mattress was drag on the ground not raped like they promise it was very dirty. My furniture have scratch and dents on them. When I spoke with Ryan Mathews at first I ask him about the bad reviews I read and he said don't worry with what people write we will make your move with no problems. I should have listen to all the review I read and never use Greenland they just don't care about you. I will never use them again or recommend Greenland to anyone. Dev

    Move from Toronto to Vancouver

DO NOT SHIP WITH THIS COMPANY...If you love your furniture, don’t ship with them. I moved from Mississauga to Vancouver in September. Our items have been delivered in two part-deliveries and no one had the overview, where our items are. Now two month after the first delivery we are still missing some of our belongings. One of our wooden chair, a glass/ wood drawer from an expensive designer armoire was broken, scratched is the side and back walls of the same armoire only to list the major damages. We filled out the damage claim report and wrote an email. The only response was that the mail was forwarded to the manager. Since then complete silence.

    Moving from Winnipeg to Windsor

I hired Greenland due to their promised delivery speed of 1 week from Winnipeg to Windsor. Instead they took a month. A month without my belongings. After waiting for a month for delivery they invented new charges that were not in the initial quote and held my belongings hostage until I paid. Almost $300 in fraudulent charges. I filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau in May. Greenland Vanlines made a fair offer for settlement and I agreed to it. Now almost 6 months later I have yet to receive the cheque from that settlement. Whenever I call they tell me the cheque is coming soon but it's clearly another stall tactic before I take them to court. I cannot recommend these movers. They will break your stuff (they broke my TV stand that they had packed), completely disregard promised (contractual) delivery dates and hold your stuff hostage.

    moving

I very much wish I has read these reviews before booking my move with greenland van lines for my move. The verbal quote received by phone for the move was a fraction of what we ended up having to pay. I was told of no extra fees or charges for the move and offered free storage (from sales rep Erin). My deposit was taken the week before the move via credit card and moving dates arranged. On moving day we sat around while the movers arrive 3 hrs later than scheduled. They also arrived with someone else's items on the truck???? I just recently watched a marketplace cbc expose on "bad movers" so many of the practices of this coming fall into the same category. The movers first wanted a contract signed on the spot- with little time to read based on the late start and needing to get moving of course we signed. They were charging extra for packing items and also told us that all items packed by us were not covered under their insurance policy. After a VERY long day moving (and we even bought the movers lunch and coffee to boot!!!) our items were taken to a storage location and then taken to weighed the next day. According to the weight ticket our goods were 3x the previously discussed quote! I challenged the weight but was told I could do nothing! In addition to the extra fees, weight and delay in move- the movers damaged the walls of the home, dirtied the rugs and broke an item before it was even moved! On the day of the move in 2 weeks later we were happy to see the movers arrived on time but we're surprised to be asked to pay the balance of the bill before any good were removed from the truck. We were given 3 options, cash, certified check or credit! As we had already paid the deposit by credit and of course on a Saturday there was no way to get that large (3x the estimate) cost in cash or check we told them credit! We were then informed we would be charged a 3percent fee! This was a shock to me as this was also not discussed during booking or scheduling. I ultimately challenged this and had it removed! Point of interest after to speaking to my bank I was told that the credit bureau of canada frowns upon this practice and basically If a company cannot afford to pay the service fee incurred for being able to offer this to consumers they shouldn't have the service! You can report this activity to the CBC and if they receive enough complaints will suspend the service for Greenland Van lines. So back to moving day!!! Many items damaged, lost, etc to even discuss! After contacting the company was told to complete online claim form like so many of you have. Based on my damage and parts I had to buy (ie having to buy ALL new legs for my furniture at a cost of 80 dollars alone) I was offered 70 dollars in return (less the deductable) which I was also unaware of. After questioning the credit via the only means they will communicate with you "email" I was told they felt they explained the credit to me and that was that! I have since sent 4 emails with no reply and was refused a phone conversation. This is still going on now but I just wanted to reflect/ WARN any potential customers of this company what they are getting into and they should stay clear! I also notice on this site that replies from the company are to favorable ratings only! I will gladly accept communication from anyone in the company to discuss my concerns and hope someone has enough respect to contact me! I also encourage all the people with horror stories like mine to contact marketplace CBC with your concerns and stories! Maybe they can expose this company like others in the past and warn people so they don't experience the same horrors in a move!

    Moving

DO NOT SHIP WITH THESE GUYS... I guess you get what you pay for... I hired these guys to ship my furniture from Toronto to Calgary (Oct, 2013) for my move... they are very sweet to take the order and the price was good. But, then everything went south from there... They were supposed to pick my stuff up on Saturday and I specifically mentioned I need the items picked up between 1 and 4pm as I had to book the elevator (being a condo). They also confirmed a day before, that they will pick up my stuff between 1 and 3PM. And they showed up at 5PM ! I had to literally beg my security to allow me to use the elevator. Their planning dept. SUCKS BIG TIME. I couldn't get hold of a single person to talk to ... on Saturday. I was left at the mercy of the truck driver to keep me posted on what's going. The truck driver mentioned that he talked to his manager and he'll call me to explain the situation. But, I never got the call. They promised the furniture will be delivered in Calgary within 7 to 10 days, 2 weeks being the max. And they took 22 days to deliver it. That's because they kept my stuff in Toronto for over a week. And their customer care is utter useless. They never had any clue where my furniture was. They gave me a different delivery date everytime I called them. And you never get to talk to anyone twice. I finally was able to get a Calgary number who they contract out the delivery to. They gave me a firm date and stuck to it. The initial Toronto pick up was contracted to Blue Star in Toronto and the delivery was contracted to Mid-West in Calgary. The people who picked up and dropped off my stuff did an amazing job. They were very careful and detailed in handling my furniture. But, GreenLand Moving is a BIG NO NO. Please take my advise and stay away from this company. If you want your furniture moved peacefully without any mental torture, don't trust Greenland Moving !!
