    Fridge repair

Had a very bad smell coming from the bottom of our fridge. Called this " company"..." technician" showed up..charged 280 $ right away to have a look. Initialy he told us that he is gone drain the all system..than he changed his mind...and asked us if we usecto have milk in the fridge! Well of course we do have!! Then he says that the bad smell is coming from milk from defrost heater..and the defrost heater has to be changed. After that for sure no smell anymore. He was very asservative and when my wife tried to argue with him ..his answer was " don't challenge me"!! He wants us to charge us 500$ for the defrost heater ...after checking online i noticed everywhere that this piece cost around 80$..anyway when he came back to install the new defrost heater i talked to him and about the price..his answer was that those piece are made in china..but the one he brought for 500$. .are the original one from General Electric... He installed the new defrost heater..total cost + labour ...900$!!....and after one week..nothing changed..smell still there and as bad as before.. The worst dishonest and uncompetent company i ever deal in my live! Im gone call them back and ask them to send another technician to fix the issue without paying any extra $.

    dishwasher repair...RIPOFF!!!

Unfortunately I read the reviews once it was too late. I got taken like a lot of other people by this company, and I'm not a babe in the woods by any means. Most honest businesses would give you a total estimate to fix the problem. Not this company. It's a three step process. $80 to show up, then $280 to diagnose the problem ( which took about 20 minutes) and THEN exhorbitant parts cost on top of that, for which you are asked to pay 50% upfront. Once I was quoted $400 for the part ( should have cost max $100) I was already in the game for $280. I should have considered that an expensive lesson and called another company, but I did not. Total cost to fix ended up being well over half the cost of buying a new top-quality dishwasher. (On the positive side they responded quickly and were good at providing updates for the visit to install the part) Beware, beware, beware of the Appliance Repair Team

    Stay away from these guys

My fridge stopped working on Saturday. Their technician came the same day and told us the Evaporator Fan Motor must be replaced. I asked him how soon it can be done because I cannot leave without my fridge long time. He promised me that it will be done by Monday. When we called them on Monday they told us they just ordered it and it would arrive on Thursday or Friday. I would not go ahead if it took so long. I checked amazon.ca and found this part with 3-5 delivery days. If they ordered it on Saturday it could come on Monday. They were very unfriendly in communications. Finally, they stopped to respond at all. NEVER DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY. Even their web side is wrong. I wrote my review there and put 1 star. I saw 5 stars after submit.

    Oven repair

I called this company to fix my Porter and Charles oven. They told me they serviced every make of appliance. It was obvious he was unfamiliar with my brand. He charged me up front to diagnose the problem. Then I never heard from them again. I called them and told them the part was available, I had contacted the supplier. I was told they would look into it but they never contacted me again. Therefore I had to call another serviceman so I paid double.

Please heed the warnings and do NOT call this company!!!

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I believe this company pulled a fast one on us. We're usually pretty good about checking reviews before hiring someone, but it's been a stressful couple of weeks, so we were off our game. :/ Our Samsung Dryer started making strange noises (like metal scraping metal), and unfortunately the company we usually call does not service Samsung appliances, so we had to find another option. I found ApplianceRepairTeam.ca and it seemed legit - they were friendly and responsive - no complaints there. That's where the postive experience ends - they hooked us into signing the bill up front ($280) before the work was done, and then told us there were additional charges of $145 to supply and install a defective part, that only costs about $40. That evening after the work was done my wife ended up searching online for reviews when we came across hundreds of negative reviews, an "F" rating with a warning from the Better Business Bureau, and a lawsuit in the works. :( Unfortunately it was too late for us. We ended up paying them $480 for a repair that should have been half that. I contacted the company and demanded a partial refund (yes, I can be reasonable), but they refused. I have already filed a complaint with Consumer Protection Ontario and will continue to post my opinions and unbiased reviews elsewhere. For the record, the dryer was working when the technician left, however now it is making strange, loud clunking noises it was not making before the 'repair'.

Stay Away! Not a legitimate repair company.

Called to have our wash machine repaired. We were in a crunch so we accepted the $80 fee to have someone come by give us a quote. The technician said it had something to do with the electrical system and said it was going to cost us $360. We were going to say no and just buy a new machine (ours are 10 years old) he talked us out of buying a new machine and said we should just fix ours for $360... fine fine, okay we did it. We were required to pay up front, interact or cash, no credit card (because that you can challenge payment and they’re too smart to let people do that). We paid, the technician was here for a total of 17 minutes (we have the whole thing on nest camera) and left without even showing us that the machine was fixed. Sure enough it wasn’t fixed at all. Called the company to see if we could get a technician to come back and fix it. They said no. My husband and I spent over 4 hours over the next two days trying to get our money back. They say they’re sending us a cheque with some of the money refunded but I’ll believe it when I see it. I will be filing reports with Consumer Protection Ontario, the Federal Competition Bureau’s Fraud department, and even the police. If you have also be taken by this company (as I already see some of you have because it’s all the same story it seems) I urge you to do the same.

    Refrigerator repair

Refrigerator would not cool. Technician came. Cost for visit and assessment is $80. technician examined fridge and said he corrected the issue and that the fridge would cool down in 24 hours, he said that i might have future compressor problems as he could detect some piston issue. since compressor cost would be same as new fridge ( in fact i found a better new fridge at same cost delivered), i said i would worry about the compressor down the road. he charged me $333 and in fact fixed nothing. the fridge never cooled. i called them the same evening as the service call and the next day as they did not get back to me as promised. i believe the technician knew the compressor was already faulty and took me for some extra money vs the $80 assessment fee. had i checked with homestars in advance i would never have used this company based on the reports i now have seen.

    Stay away from these guys!

Our dishwasher was leaking badly so called this company. Repair guy came two days later and I agreed to pay $290 for the labor to diagnose and repair the dishwasher. First mistake! He found a broken part in less than 5 minutes and quoted me $426 for a new inlet valve. He spent a lot of time telling us how Bosch parts are way over priced and that is how they make their money. Long story, but I found the original Bosch valve at a local parts dealer and paid $48 for it! Took me 20 minutes to install it. Only after all this did I look for Google and Homestar reviews - they are almost 100% negative! Bottom line, stay away from this company!!

    Be warned -stay away

Appliance repair technician Sam came to diagnose my gas stovetop. He told me 98 initially to diagnose, and then changed the labour cost to (diagnose and repair) to 280 plus tax. He promised this included the repair cost. After looking at stovetop He told me I needed a new main board. I told him I thought I needed a new ignite switch. He said no, and that his team would call me to order the main board. He told me part was approximately $500. After 2 weeks of waiting for company to contact me, I called in. They had not ordered part. They didn't know what part to order. I was told multiple different stories, I was put on hold indefintely, told they would call me back multiple times, but they never called back. I called in around 8-10 times, each time I was told a different reason part wasn't ordered. They said they needed diagrams, and then finally, when I asked for a refund, they told me technician diagnosed the problem wrong and the part needed was the switch. When I asked for a refund after being put on hold for 1 hour, they changed the story and said the a new main board was broken so technician was correct. They refused to give me a refund for faulty diagnoses, and for paying for a repair for a part that was neither repaired or diagnosed properly.

    Fridge

Our fridge stopped functioning. A technician from appliance repair team came, recommended a new compressor. We hesitated. The cost of a new compressor is high- almost as much as a new fridge. We were to go ahead and by a new fridge. The technician convinced us by saying that the new compressor would be guaranteed as long as we have the fridge. We agreed to it. Another technician came to install. After the installation, we talked again about the great guarantee. He mentioned that it was in fact not true, and that we had a 30 days guarantee. He recommended we called the office to sort this out. After talking to several people who said that nothing could be done, we were able to get in touch with the manager. She also said that the guarantee was 30 days and that she would do nothing for us. It does not matter what we were told as this is not how it worked. She was not interested in hearing me, hearing the fact that we were given false information, giving me anything to make us feel like customer experience matter to them. Why would we have ever bought a new compressor (which is almost the cost a of a new fridge) with a 30 days guaranteed. We would have bought a new fridge which was our initial idea. Not even 2 months later, the compressor has now stopped working... We will now get another company in and are curious to know if the compressor installed was even a new one or in any good working order... We obviously wish we had better research the company.
