    HVAC - Hybrid Heat Pump

    Our old mid-efficiency Carrier furnace was issued a red tag warning on Nov 23 2022 (with 2 weeks to replace). We quickly reached out to 3 homestar HVAC companies for quotes + 2 other companies. Hargrave Heating and Air Conditioning won the bid. From their final quote to post installation concerns we encountered the owner of Hargrave responded quickly to our questions and addressed our concerns. This installation included a Carrier Hybrid Heat Pump (Heat Pump with High Efficiency gas furnace) which was eligible for a Canada Greener Home Grant (rebate) up to 5K. The furnace and HP were installed within the mandated 2 weeks) The time from quote to rebate cheque issuance took less than 2 months. We received the full rebate for the HP Hybrid and the 2 audits. We had one issue with the humidifier drain going into the condensate pump - this caused the pump to drain every 5 minutes which was quite noisy. They sent a service tech out within 48hrs, moved the humidifier drain to a separate line : problem solved! The technicians, service people, office mgr and owner were attentive and professional from start to finish. The owner knew exactly how to get this done quickly with the least amount of impact and administration particularly the rebate portion. We were provided references as well (these people were helpful) The auditor that HARGRAVE uses was very good and coached us through the rebate process.

    Heat pump,furnace and water heater

    From start to finish great service.From the time I got the quote till the install was completed the staff were in touch every step of the way. Tim the owner was great answering all my questions. The installers were on time,mindful of my property and did a great job. I would recommend this company.

    HVAC

    I was pleased with the level of service I received. The installers showed when they said they would. They were efficient and clean. They did everything I asked and more. I appreciated that they answered all of the questions I had about the installation. I went to clean up after the installers had left but there was nothing to do. The site was left cleaner than they had found it. I would use Hargrave again and recommend them with confidence.

    New Furnace

    Needed a new furnace because mine got red tagged. Heard this company from my friend who got a great experience from them and he was right. Tim and Janet are the best. They solved my problem right away. Installation team are excellent(Steve and Kenny), very skilled and professional (they even fix my leaking water heater which is not part of the job). I highly recommend this company they did a great job, Im very satisfied. Its very rare nowadays to find a good company like this. Thanks Hargrave.

    AC Replacment

    Returned from vacation to find water running out from under furnace - AC leaking! Hargrave has been my go-to HVAC service provider since my furnace blower packed it in a few years ago. Called for a diagnostic visit which they were able to do within 48 hrs - busy & HOT summer! Long story short, old Carrier AC (circa 1978) was leaking inside the condenser coil area and the cost to band-aid a solution was somewhat prohibitive. Ordered replacement high-efficiency 2.5T Carrier unit and Hargrave's installation crew arrived about a week later - I did mention it was a busy & HOT summer! Removal of old system and installation of the new much more efficient unit along with upgrading the external electrical connection to current code was accomplished without a hiccup in only a few hours. I was very pleased with the crew's professionalism and even more pleased that the house temperature was below 30 degrees Celsius again! Though not in the scope of work, they easily accommodated my request to remove and dispose of the old, inoperative power dehumidifier, patching up the holes in the duct work. And finally, not only did he waive the call-out fee for the diagnostic, but Steve @ Hargrave did give me quite a nice discount on the overall project. Overall, I am very pleased with Hargrave and will continue to rely upon them for all my HVAC needs.

    Furnace installation

    This is an update for the review we made in early April. We gave Hargrave 10/10 in our last review, believing whole heartedly that the installation of our new furnace went well. The technicians and installers were friendly and helpful. So even though after installation, we felt that there wasn't as much warm air coming out of the registers as with our old furnace, we just assumed that the furnace didn't need to run constantly as the weather had gotten warmer. Never did we doubt. that anything could have gone wrong with the installation. Last week we turned on the air conditioner, ( approximately 3 months after installing our furnace), we found ice around our AC pipe outside and the AC is only 2 years old. We then spent $113 to get a technician of the company which installed our AC to come check on our AC, only to discover that the problem was caused by the blower of the new furnace. When the technician from Hargrave came, he told us that the installer (from Hargrave)did not do the wiring properly so the blower was never boosted. The technician was very helpful and friendly and we were relieved that the issue got fixed. But we were also very upset and disappointed that the installation was not done properly. We just hope that no permanent damage was done to this new furnace in the last 3 months when the blower was not running at all, which could result in overheating of the furnace. We are not even sure if we can get compensation for all of this (service fee or $113 paid to check on our AC, the hassles we went through and the possible damage done to our furnace). All could have been avoided if more caution was given during installation. There is also a $700 ,trade-in rebate that we are still waiting for. We were told the rebate process could take up to 8 weeks. It's almost 3 months now. We just hope that we will eventually get the rebate money because it was the main reason why we purchased this new Carrier furnace to trade in with our old one.

    Oil furnace removal, Gas furnace & AC installation

    Tim, and Janice were a pleasure to work with. We really appreciated the fact that the oil tank removal was part of the quote, saved us time finding a separate contractor to complete that work and coordinate that accordingly. All in all we loved Hargrave’s service and will recommend them to family and friends.
