    Server

    My initial pleasant experience has gone sour quite quickly. Michelle verbally confirmed that she had movers reserved for Wednesday (Aug. 20). She quoted me 2 crew members at $110 per hours for a minimum of 3 hours. I accepted, received the order confirmation and reserved my move. It's for a small, 200 lbs. server which is being moved 10 minutes driving distance office to office within the city. Unfortunately, she had inputted Thursday (Aug. 21) for which I did not see until after the fact. Edward, a rep who is very hard to understand when he speaks, called to confirm on what I thought would be the moving day. He informed me that I would be charged for an additional crew member for $50 more per hour given the weight of the ONE item. Having no choice, I had to agree. He calls me again to inform me that it's actually for tomorrow and not today. I call Michelle and she interrupted me multiple times when I am explaining what is happening. She placed FULL blame on me when it's partial and could not provide an effective solution. As a matter of fact, it as complete silence given that she made her point 0 "Why is it Aug 21 then?" I have no choice but to continue with their service as I do not wish to pay them $150 free money to cancel. Do not use Metropolitan Movers. I should have had better judgement and gone with a local mover rather than one which directs calls to a call centre and their staff need better training all around. There is a home office in Edmonton, AB but there is no contact for anyone there.

    Moving

    Metropolitan Movers is the WORST moving company ever! Read the "good" reviews: they are formulaic, fake and repeat the company's tag lines! They were late, lazy and damaging to our things.

    Move in Whitby

    Used them in December 2013. Not the best experience. They brought a truck that was too small so we needed to make 2 trips. The 3 guys were nice enough, but one of them continued to try to sell me a used car the entire day. They broke a few things (which is expected I realize) and they clogged our toilet without telling us (and continued to use it!) so it was a nasty surprise the next morning - extremely disrespectful and disgusting. I would not recommend them.

    Moving

    I recently hired Metropolitan Movers for my move on Friday July 4, 2014. I have never hired a moving company before and had always moved with the help of friends and a rental truck. I looked up a website that rated moving companies and saw that Metropolitan Movers was very well rated with impressive testimonies. I feel greatly disappointed with the service I received in comparison. I had explained when I arranged the moving services that my Husband and I had recently moved back from Australia and were moving our belongings that were in storage in the basement of our In-laws home and being moved into our two bedroom townhouse. There were no appliances being moved; just a king sized bed, couch, kitchen table & chairs and a lot of boxes/tools. On the day of the move the movers were very prompt and protected the floors with fabric runners. We explained what items needed to be packed. They started at 9am. My husband then went to work while my Inlaws and I were present. I left to go to the townhouse before the movers were done at 11am. The moving truck arrived at 1pm and my brother was present to keep me company. The movers announced that they had another job in Okotoks that started at 3pm and they would have to leave by 2pm. Considering it took 4 hours to load the truck it seemed very unlikely that they would unload and reassemble the furniture in 1 hour. I came up to the truck to help move things along by looking at the items and telling where they should go. I took a box with me into the garage to show them where most of the boxes could be place and I turned around to see my brother being handed a box. One of the movers then said that "4 people are faster than 2 and they needed to get going to the next job". I felt that I was in a very difficult situation as the movers seemed exhausted and were expecting my help. However, the whole reason I hired your moving company was so that I wasn't moving boxes. My brother and I ended up helping unload the entire truck. At some points we would come out of the house to see one of the movers standing beside the truck and smoking near my belongings! One mover stayed in the truck and moved items forward to be collected and the other mover carried items to the house with my brother and I. I understand that we had a king size mattress that is difficult to move with only two people and had no problem helping with that specific item; but at no point were any straps or lifts used to assist. At the end of the job (2:45pm) I paid the full amount because I felt very rushed by the movers since they had to go to their next job. I briefly mentioned that my brother and I had to help unload the wholetruck in the comments section. I mentioned this to my husband as well as other people who have used movers before and was told that this was completely unacceptable. I should not have had to help the movers do their job while still paying $110/hr. I feel like the company did not allocate an appropriate amount of time for the movers to successfully complete their job and I feel it was inappropriate for the movers to put me in the difficult situation where I was made to feel that I had to help them with unloading the entire truck.When I submitted my formal complaint to the customer service of Metropolitan Movers it was passed onto Patrick, the guy in charge of the move that day and I was simply told that there was nothing wrong with what they did that day. The customer service and response to complaints was of very poor quality.

    Moving

    I recently made the move from Toronto to Brampton to accommodate my growing family. This was not an easy task as I have lived in Toronto for over 20 years and accumulated a lot of stuff. It seemed nearly impossible to manage, especially with my schedule, and I needed a company that was willing to go the extra mile. Metropolitan Movers stood out to me as the superior choice, and I took a chance on them, They hooked me up with a comprehensive and efficient service that made my move so much easier. I don't know how I would have gotten through this without them. It was worth it to know that my belongings were being packaged and transported safely, even without my constant supervision and nitpicking. I am very hard to please, but I feel this is a company you can trust. For an excellent moving experience, look no further than Metropolitan Movers-- just call them and let them take care of everything for you.

    Move across Canada

    I did as much internet and local research as I possible could and came to the conclusion that Metropolitan Movers was likely the best option. Their rates are competitive with low end companies but their services are extremely top notch, and their customer satisfaction is through the roof! I got the impression that the employees were happy with their jobs and therefore delivered a delightfully pleasant service with a high level of respect and responsibility. My move from Halifax to Barrie was flawless, and I definitely owe thanks to Metropolitan Movers for their exquisite help.

    Moving - Very highly recommend!

    Metropolitan Movers was such a reliable, friendly and wonderful company to work with! I was in a crunch for time to move, and they helped me every step of the way! Moving used to be tiresome and stressful, but this time I was astonished how much I looked forward to it with their assistance! 5 out of 5 stars-- that is how satisfied I was with this service! I very highly recommend them out of anyone else. Save yourself the trouble, and have Metropolitan Movers help you on your next move-- you will NOT regret it!

    3 bedroom house move

    This is not a moving company - they contract to other third party movers in your city and misrepresent themselves!!!! Obtained a quote for a 3 bedroom house move, working with the company online and over the phone. Disclosed that we had alot of heave items including 6 big screen tv's. Was told only extra charge would be for washer/dryer and gym equipment and two movers is all that would be needed. On the day of the move, three movers showed up at my door and I was informed that there would be an additional $40/ hour charge because I had so much stuff. I had committed to moving that day and was forced to agree to the terms. I decided to argue the charge with MEtropolitan as these guys were NOT Metroplitan movers but a sub-contracted company representing them. Of the three movers, only one was experienced and continually corrected the other two on how to properly pick up and load items which added considerable time to the move compared to an experienced team use to moving people. They were very nice guys but not the quality I would have expected - it was like having inexperienced friends help me move. The move took eleven hours and two trips to the new house that is not even five minutes away even though I had dissassembled the bedroom and living hardware to speed the process. We did not take many items that I will move now on my own... the house is far from empty. By comparison, a close friend had also planned a move that day with a five bedroom house and utilized just her family and a couple of close friends. Their new house is a 45 minute drive from the old and they still completed the move just over ten hours, making two trips. While the crew was punctual and easy to work with, this was not the service I expected and Metro movers has declined to acknowledge any fault. I would not recommend using this shady company for anything.

    Moving

    The movers were very helpful and polite and showed up on time. Service was great - they packed everything neatly and carefully and moved everything into the trucks and to our new home. Very organised and quick work. Would definitely use this service and company again!

    A must use Service

    When my friend Mark told me about Metropolitan Movers I was reluctant to use it at first, but when he told me about its liability insurance policy I was convinced. I am happy with how professionally they go about their work with only little briefing. I found it very Customer Oriented and the employees are also very good natured. They respond to a call immediately and answer any sort of query. Overall, I am very impressed by their fast and efficient service and would surely like to use them again in the future.
