Moving has always been a stressing experience for us, so this time we called Metropolitan after we heard good reviews. With only 4 days' notice, they were able to send out their best crew. They lifted all our heavy boxes with good pace and did not waste any of our time, as they know their trade inside out. They are inexpensive and reliable so we couldn't be happier with the move.

We recently used this company to do a move of large items to a new house. The move itself wasn't great we found 1 of the movers to be very good, the other very slow to do things which is not what you want when you're paying by the hour, and there is only two of them. To then top things off they damaged our table which we are currently trying to make a claim for, but we are now 6 weeks after the move and they are refusing to answer emails about it. My recommendation use someone else, even if it means spending a bit more money! UPDATE: So now nearly 8 weeks after the initial move, the customer service from this company does not exist! They don't ring you back, they don't answer emails even when you escalate it to the Manager. In the end I feel I've been backed into a corner and had to settle on $120 refund against a table that is new and worth $1000. My additional warning here is ignore the $50,000 insurance offering on the home page its worthless, they basically give you 0.6 cent to the lb of weight, which is standard..... but they also make an assumption on the weight of your item to calculate the refund. Basically class the insurance as cover for repair that is it. Very unclear on the web site. Overall worst customer service experience I have ever had to deal with, please do not use, or if you do go into it with your eyes open to what you will get if something goes wrong. Further Update: In response to the company response, its a little worrying that you don't know who I am even though I have spoken to many members of your team and have a number of emails. Happy for you to ring me to discuss further, please ask Jay and team for my contacts details. Look forward to your update on this.

Moving seemed an easy and relaxed task with this company. I always tend to get tensed when other people handle my belongings but these guys treating every box with a lot of responsibility and care and it took a lot of concern off my head. For the first time nothing was harmed and everything got to me at the same condition as I left it from my old house. The price was very convenient too, so it made my decision very easy to hire a company than hire a truck and do it myself.

I was very impressed with the services they offer-packaging services, special item moving (they could even move my pool!) and medical equipment office moving, and furniture assembly! They are very professional and always on time. They have excellent packaging and organizational skills as well..! Definitely a good choice for moving services!

I picked up a job in North York on short notice and had to move to my new house at a very particular time. Moving out of a residence room is not as easy as it might sound - the elevators can't be reserved, so you have to share with other people. Metro Movers were a big help here - they showed up with four people, so one could stay in the lobby and hold one for us. The moving team were very, very speedy in getting the truck loaded, and we were off to my new house within a few hours of them arriving. Nothing was forgotten, and I was settled in no time. These guys are a great choice for students IMHO.

I was looking for a mover to help get my grandmother's piano to Ottawa. I'm so glad I found these guys. They were so friendly and we received it without a scratch. Very friendly and fast service. Thanks again.

I hired Metropolitan Movers in October to help me with a residential move. Long story short, the movers sent to me completed most of the job satisfactorily and were polite/courteous enough but not as professional as the website claims their movers to be. However, due to major struggles in moving my King sized mattress I was left with highly visible bumps and ridges in my $3000 mattress that were clearly not there prior to the move. Because of this I had to file a damage complaint which has gone nowhere as it took about 3 weeks for them to even acknowledge my claim and to which I simply received an email telling me to get in touch with the local moving coordinator John (who actually works for RM Transport & Hot Shot Ltd. and is subcontracted out by Metropolitan Movers). Before even talking to John, he has since sent me a rather scathing and defensive email saying that there is no validity to my claim. John even went as far as accusing me of making an unwarranted complaint for "my own materialistic gain" and saying that he abhors any customers that make unwarranted claims against their company and will fight aggressively on behalf of the company if need be. Claiming that he runs an honest business that has never had a complaint before, I find it rather amusing that he did not bother to contact me first to discuss the matter with me in hopes of truly investigating my complaint instead of jumping to very accusatory conclusions about the customer (me). For those of you that are looking for movers in Edmonton area, DO NOT hire Metropolitan Movers as they simply broker out the jobs to smaller local moving companies like John's and do not actually support their moves as claimed with insurance as listed on their website. My complaint was simply passed on to deal with the local company leaving a customer with a legitimate concern with nowhere to turn. I had originally hired Metropolitan Movers because of their website claims that all moves had ample insurance coverage in case anything goes wrong and that all of their movers are ensured to be highly trained and professional and this is not the case. My advice would be to find a local company on your own that you truly feel you can work with and trust as this has been the most appalling customer service experience I have dealt with in a very long time.

My experience in the past with other moving companies was that I would have to follow and check up on the crew to make sure they were working, but this was not the case this time. The crew showed up on time and really did a great job wrapping up everything. They were professional and extremely understanding of my needs. They went over and above to make sure everything got loaded and wrapped properly. The rain caused some trouble and I thought that we might not be able to get finished but they were very smart with their timing. the final bill was exactly what I was quoted with no added fees or surprises.
