I woke up Monday morning and I heard what sounded like water running. I went to the basement and saw water everywhere! The tank died! I called Reliance, it was about 7:00 am and I told them my problem. The person first told me that the department that takes care of new tanks opens at 8:00 am. But she spoke with her supervisor to put in the order. I was told that a technician would arrive between 10:00 am and 2:0 pm. My wife stayed home from work waiting for the service. They never showed. My wife called about 4:00 pm and was told that someone came around noon but no one was home. Impossible as my wife never left the house. They then put a new service order for a tech between 4 and 8:00 pm. A technician arrived around 5:30 but didn't bring a tank. I called Reliance again and they said that a tech needed to see the tank before they could replace it. I told them that in my file, a Reliance technician gave the ok last October! They said that a new look was necessary since 6 months had passed. So I asked the person on the line, if it was suggested to replace this tank was given LAST October since it was 14 years old and was showing signs of ageing how can the tank be in BETTER shape than it was 6 months ago? Company line is that a tech needed to see it again. Luckily, the new tech that came without the tank also agreed with the tech from 6 months ago that a replacement was necessary. So a new work order was placed for this morning between 7:00 and 11:00 am. The tech arrived and had some questions about the tank size as I was now advised to get the bigger tank. I had no issues as this tech was polite, understood the situation and was making sure to get everything correct. Unfortunately, he didn't have the tank! But, he did all the pre-work so that all he needed to do was get a replacement. He did this and took care of the job in about 2 hours which I thought was very reasonable. I give this technician a great review as he did his job well, clean and gave me some tips. Thank you Danny. Here's the kicker. The tank isn't even new. It's refurbished. Reliance no longer gives new tanks. Yet I still pay the same amount. Actually, a couple bucks more because it's a larger tank. So there you go. Thumbs up to the technicians at Reliance, but thumbs down to Reliance for wasting a day of work form my wife. Saying that someone came to my home when they plainly had not. Sending a worker without a tank to complete the job in a timely manner. Finally, for giving refurbished tanks! This tank will not last as long as the last one I had. So we'll see how we go forward with Reliance.
