2 years ago, but it still makes me angry. We were selling the house, and needed to remove their rented water heater. Informed Reliance. We paid our plumber to remove it, so Reliance had to only come and get their water heater. They sent us a bill for the cost of removing it even though they did not do that work, because we had already had it done.
Lousy idea, this renting water heaters. That water heater was already 'elderly' when we moved into the house and reluctantly resumed the former owner's contract with Reliance. No one from Reliance EVER checks on the condition of those water heaters. We rented it for another 8 years. Then this charge when we had it taken out. I had been getting worried that in order for this thing to be upgraded, it would need a disaster to happen first. Do the math; it's MUCH more economical to buy and have a plumber install your own tank. Once you rent one of these things with them, there are unreasonable charges if you want out.
