    Water Tank

Talked with John Sageloly. Very pleasant & helpful. Replacing aging hot water tank with on demand. Explained everything in detail to myself & my wife. Suggested best options for us. Since we have electric baseboard heat, as well as a gas fireplace in our family room, he suggested we might be interested in a wall space heater, showing us where it would be of the most benefit in our house. We were not even aware of this product. It seems that this may be our next purchase, utilizing gas, rather then electric heat.

    New furnace

We woke Friday to find our furnace dead, would not start. The furnace was a mid-efficiency 15 years old. Called our contractor who could come tomorrow. Cold for a day. Contractor arrives next day and could not fix, advises a part will be available Monday, $500 + labour. We call Reliance Monday morning, happy to help schedule a site visit at noon. David arrives at noon, answers every questions we have, suggests and guarantees a furnace for 10 years, with $1000 for the old furnace and almost $2000 in rebates. Tuesday morning 9am prompt and early a team of professionals arrive and install a new furnace problem free, with a Nest wi-fi thermostat included. It was an excellent experience. Thank-you!!

    Rental Service Agreement for Furnace/Air

Previously had a rental agreement for furnace/air. Nothing but problems with the equipment but Reliance always serviced/fixed the issues at no cost to me. Last repair was to be a $1500 repair. Service person says since the equipment is over seven years old, Reliance will replace it. Sales rep shows that same day, offers me a great deal and says, "If you are happy with that price, sign Here." I am passed an iPad with only the signature line showing. Installation takes place. My first bill is some strange dollar amount, no itemization. I call for details and am told I have no right asking as I am not the account holder although my name is on the contract. I wait 2 weeks after which I have to contact them again. I am never actually sent a detailed bill as to what I was being charged. They even charged me a late charge which they did reverse after I requested it. Shortly after, I was contacted by someone else in another city to warn me about Reliance. They went to refinance through their bank and found out they had a lien from Reliance. Come to find out, sales reps are not disclosing that Reliance is now putting $12 000 liens on peoples' property. So if your mortgage comes due or you refinance, you are now surprised with the $12 000 lien. Reliance legal department claims it is as simple as your bank contacting them to lift the lien temporarily and then Reliance will reinstate it when your banking is done. Not so simple for the many people with an equity mortgage. Their bank will not allow it to be lifted, it must be paid. So Reliance has a found a loophole where they can force their customers to have to purchase the equipment in less than five years of install (as mortgage terms are maxed at five years). I agreed to rent, not buy. If I was buying, I would have shopped around. I have emailed and left phone messages for Alexandra (my sales rep) and she has neglected to respond. The Reliance legal department also emailed Michael here in Kingston requesting that he call me but he hasn't responded either. I am aware that I should have read the contract but in all honesty, I thought I was signing off on the price not the overall contract. I was never shown anything but a line to sign. Also having a previous contract with them, I foolishly thought I was just renewing what I already had. Not so. This is a rental agreement, I am not in default of anything therefore there should be no lien against my property. I'm not sure what the proper term is but a letter of interest can be used instead warning all involved that there is rental equipment on the property and Reliance has a right to get it back or be paid for it. I can see how Reliance prefers the lien option as it forces people to pay for equipment in less than five years at full price unbeknownst to the homeowner. This is a very deceitful way of operating and Reliance should be ashamed of their tactics. If you can't afford to be in the rental business, get out.

    Continuous hot water system

My two hot water tanks were 18 years old and I was looking at around $2000 to replace them. Dan McDougal happened to call as a follow-up for the furnace they installed and after considering all the options he described I opted to rent the continuous hot water system. All the tearing out of the old system, new plumbing, electrical, gas and installation was free and I don't have to pay to heat sitting water anymore. My monthly rental includes maintenance and replacement when Calgary's hard water takes it's toll.

    No shows, twice now

Furnace died Friday night, called Reliance early Saturday said there would be someone here from 1-6pm. We waited at home, at 4:20pm I get a email saying no one was able to reach us and I'd have to rebook. Called number given, after being on hold for 30 mins, I tell lady no one called. She tells me they did, both our cellphones and that they came by and left a sticker. I check again and tell her there is no calls logged to either cellphone at that time and no one came by. We even checked the neighbours for the sticker, nothing. Still she keeps stating that I missed the appointment, says the only time they can "come back" is Sunday morning. I try to get them to just send the same person to actually call and come here this time. No luck. Tell them I'll need to lodge a complaint, she tells me to call back Monday. Booked the Sunday, but called another local company right after at 5:12pm. *Their technician got back to me 5:20pm, called to verify on route at 7:30, was here at 8:15pm, great guy & service. Reliance did actually call to verify Sunday at 9:30am, told them the job was already done. This is the second time we've had a no show from Reliance, first was just to do a check-up on their water heater after fumes from getting our hardwood done triggered the sensor for a week. They cancelled appointment after we waited around the full time frame given, and never followed back up with us to re-book. Found out later the service call was logged as a 'Water Heater replacement'. No wonder they didn't show. I wont waste my time with Reliance again. Their water heater is coming out at the first sign of trouble.

    Repair my hot water tank

I live in Ajax. Our hot water tank broke down yesterday afternoon in the weekend in the temperature -15. We have baby and also had some guests. I called to the reliance .The technician Mr. Purcell came to our house less than 24 hours in the Sunday morning, fix our problem very soon and provided very awesome service to us. We are very satisfied for his service and company too.
