Got a new water tank. Representative Jordan was on-time, efficient and professional individual that not only installs in a timely matter and came with all material and tools required, but also took the time to review our new product and explained its functionality. To sum it up, excellent service

    Hot Water Heater

This is my first real dealing with Reliance even though I have their rental water heater for 4.5 years now (was installed by the builder). First off, I would say I had GREAT technical service. Discovered a small water leak this morning, went online and booked a service appointment for the same afternoon - great that you can see what dates and times are available at a glance. Tech arrived within the time window. Quickly diagnosed the issue and corrected it - was a leaky drain valve. Older heaters came with a plastic valve so they are prone to leakage but the newer models are fitted with a brass one. So its worth checking yours as my unit is only 4.5 years old, but with plastic and heat .... well. Secondly, however, I am not too crazy about the technical "usability" of their website. I didn't explore the whole site but just the online booking section. It is NOT (Android) tablet friendly. I could not select the type of device that needs repair - the drop down list does show I have a rental plan but cannot make that selection to 'stick.' Had to use a laptop instead. -2 points There is no easy way to email Reliance - though their Contact Us page said "So don't hesitate to pick up the phone or send us an email." But there isn't an email address listed anywhere on that page! (See attached) -2 more points On the Service Appointment Scheduling page, they display your address and contact information for confirmation. However, changes entered there do NOT get saved to your profile nor is sent to the Tech. As my rental was installed through the builder, it had my name and address but the builder's phone number. I entered my phone number on the Appointment page, but the builder's number was still sent to the Tech as he couldn't call me prior to his arrival. Upon arriving and we talked about this, he tried to update it from his end but was unable to. And there is no where under the Service login to edit such information either. -3 points. Being an IT guy, seeing such (and more) technical shortcomings really bug me.

    Furnace & Air Condition Unit

My more than 10-year old furnace unit finally broke down in the winter time. For two days, my house is like a freezer inside. I used a portable oil-filled heater for a while in my master's bedroom. Since I've got a Protection plan for the furnace unit (C$20/month) from Reliance Home Comfort, I called them and immediately they sent a technician. I ask him if they have any good offer for a new Furnace & Air Condition Unit. He told me a sales rep/advisor (a very polite Mr. Brendan M) from their company is coming to my house within an hour. After agreeing and signing for the monthly rental of the unit (with a buyout option), they installed a brand new Carrier Furnace & Air Condition Unit to my house the next day - so fast their service was! Reliance Home Comfort is really reliable indeed!

    heating and cooling system

The salesman Andrew gave us a great presentation. He was very polite and professional. He was able to answer any questions we had and presented us with several options in our budget range. We appreciated that he listened, gave us his suggestions but was not pushy in any way .

    Furnace

I have a monthly service plan with Reliance. My furnace stopped working so they came out on a service call. They advised that my heat exchanger was defective, my furnace was "end of life" and that I would need to buy a new furnace. Of course my plan did not cover this type of repair. My furnace is 10 years old and high efficiency, so instead, I received a second opinion. The other technician confirmed the heat exchanger was not defective. He was able to get my furnace working and confirmed it was fine after doing a thorough cleaning. While I might need a new A coil for my AC (which might be slowing down air flow) that is not required this time. A new AC coil and the cost for the service call would be far less than a new furnace. In addition the circuit board on the furnace was damaged which appears to be have done by Reliance when they cleaned my furnace in early January. That cost me $175.00. Time to cancel my plan and stick with the company that’s not all about trying to sell me a new furnace. As an update.... despite complaining to Reliance about the poor service I did not hear anything from them - other than them issuing me another invoice for the monthly plan . When I spoke to the rep last week, she said she was sorry to hear about my issue but when could they expect payment. Great job Reliance Home Comfort!
