I called Reliance to have them check a rattling noise made as a result of excessive vibration in our old furnace, They promptly sent out a service man who found a hairline crack in the heat exchanger. We were informed that by law, he had to turn off the gas for our protection. He indicated that repair parts were no longer available and therefore we had to buy a new furnace.
Since it was one of the coldest days in the year I was very concerned about how long it would take to replace the furnace. He said that a salesman would call within the hour.(which he did)
I called Reliance and expressed my concern that the gas was shut off without doing a true test for carbon monoxide. They replied by sending another repairman for a second opinion . By the time he arrived, to do the actual test,(which determined that there was no immediate danger and he turned the gas back on on a temporary basis), Dan Shepley their salesman, had already assessed our home needs and fully explained the options available very accurately and professionally and made a recommendation that we accepted. This was late Thursday night (about 4 hrs after the gas was turned off). By Monday, the new furnace and air conditioner were installed and working efficiently. The installers were prompt,, worked efficiently, and were very neat and courteous. The furnace and humidifier are keeping our house warm and cozy. Dan was very quick to send a follow-up service man the day after the installation to carry out a minor tweak in the humidifier settings and the humidifier has been keeping our house at the proper settings since.
We are very pleased with the promptness and quality of service we have received from Reliance. Dan Shepley and Stehanie (the dispatcher?) took a personal interest in ensuring that everything was coordinated and working properly. We are very pleased with the quality of the product and especially the quality of the service,
The only constructive suggestions we have is to instruct all the servicemen o ensure they they are wearing clean booties when they move through the house and to keep the doors closed as much as possible as they go in and out to get parts)
Although most of the servicemen were conscientious about these matters, some were not.
