    Install back flow valve

This company showed the utmost in professionalism from the beginning to the end of the job. Yuri and his workers were on time, very efficient and the City inspector was at the sight for approval the very next day. Their price was excellent relative to the other quotes I acquired and I would highly recommend Anta Plumbing and Drain to anyone needing services of this nature. The ladies in the office Chantal, Andrea, Ann and Tanya managing business and appointments were also terrific!

    Answer from pro:

Well David you certainly put a smile on all our faces this morning with your review! It was very thoughtful of you to acknowledge our intake staff as well as the hardworking drain crew. Coordinating customer availability, crew availability, and City services is what we do, and appreciation is always welcome. We are happy to hear that the installation process flowed smoothly and was priced reasonably. That is ultimately the goal in the service industry, so we are obviously doing it right! We look forward to being of service to you in the future. Cheers!

    Service

Used in the past for a small home repair. Not bad price and got the job done in time and the first time. Didn't get any of the typical "you gotta replace the entire kitchen sink" story. Will use again if needed.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you so much Justin! Repeat customers are golden in the service industry. At Anta we don't believe in pushing our customers into unnecessary repairs. Our technicians repair what is requested, and make recommendations on what else may need to be done, The decision belongs to the homeowner.Owning a home is expensive enough without adding unnecessary costs. Anta staff are homeowners and consumers as well, so we understand value and service importance. We thank you for choosing Anta Plumbing again, and look forward to hearing from you in the future.

backflow valve and Sump pump installation

Prompted by the flooding in Toronto in July 2013, we had a backflow valve and sump pump installed by Anta Plumbing. From my initial contact with Andrea, to the home assessment by Tony (no charge), to the installation and clean up by Igor and Crew (Andrew and Andrew), I was impressed by the prompt, courteous and professional service. Each step was fully explained, work was completed on time, there was an unexpected problem with a cracked drain line that was repaired without charge - unheard of in my experience with plumbers! Anta is a first class plumbing company and they are now my go to people should any future work be needed. The cost of the work was $5,300 total. I checked with 3 other companies. This was cheaper than 2 of them and in line with the third however, the Homestar rating for the third company was not as good as Anta. My thanks to Igor and his crew for a job well done and to Homestars for helping me to find them. I had asked for a sump pump to be installed for the purpose of having a backup system in case the back flow valve failed. What I did not realize and was not told was that the pump would run continuously. I thought it would only kick in if the back flow valve failed. i even mentioned several times that it would probably never be used. No one thought to correct me. There was a problem running the drain out of the basement due to the presence of some stairs and a chimney. Because I thought that the pump would only kick in if the backflow valve failed, I agreed to have the drain line exit to the driveway. You can imagine my diappointment when I found water draining onto the deiveway at all times of the day and night. No one in their right mind who understood how the pump worked would allow this. Since Anta Plumbing knowingly installed something in my house that they would never do in their own home, and have not returned my calls(except to refer me back to Tony who has not returned my call), I have downgraded my rating. Anta has been an expensive mistake.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you for looking us up on Homestars Brian! It is always a pleasure to have feedback from our customers, and we will be sure to pass your appreciation along to our intake staff and technicians. At Anta we do keep our prices competitive, while offering the service and satisfaction our customers deserve. We just received you concern about pump work. You made a call asking to remove the pump pit, but the problem is that pump now taking the water from underground and you as the owner received the rebate form city $1780 for the sump pump installation plus $1250 for back water valve from Basement Flooding Program. This program is running couple years by City of Toronto to educate everybody to stop send rain water to sewer system. This extra amount of water from your roof and from underground makes another home owners deal with sewer back up to their house and destroy their property. Water underground is not predictable, it can be nothing there and another month you will have water every day. To keep your neighborhood with dry basement is the right decision. As an solution you can re-route the discharge as one of the option to your garden using flexible hose or 1-1/2 ABS pipe for the rainy season. The Inspector already checked the installation and approved the installation with marking this in City system as clear for your personal check for amount up to $3000 as appreciation for as a homeowner. As homeowner you can remove the pump and connect back to sewer line, but it make risk to have flood at your own basement by the ground water. When sewer will backing up, flapper in a back water valve will be closed, and if you keep rain pipes are connected to sewer, as it was originally, all that ground water will go back to your basement because no discharge at that moment. That's why City of Toronto recommends every house with flooding problem to install back water valve to sewer, to install sump pit system to disconnect sewer and storm water from each other, and recommend everybody to install water powered backup system to sump pits. It makes protection as one package. We at Anta Plumbing really trying to explain every customer the purpose of every step, we have great web site with explanation and I wish one day we will be able to educate every customer to take extra care about neighborhood. Check the possibility to do FRENCH drain to keep discharge underground if you like to have discharged water back to the ground. You can check our video on youtube with visual explanation of French drain purpose and installation. We try to make as much video as we can, to write article on our blogs to inform customers with every thought we have. Thank you for your advice about "not calling back", Tony never get the message about the problem you dealing with because he is non-stop on a job site, and gets to the office so late night that most of dispatchers are gone for the day. I will pass message to Tony personally to make him aware that one of the messages didn't go through the pagers. For next time you can keep his email as tony@antaforyou.com, he can check e-mails on his mobile even when he is on a job site with crews and customers to react promptly. With best regards, Tanya Klein - technical assistance ONE MORE time to every customer: 1) back water valve stops sewer coming to the basement BUT you have second source of water in your basement - RAIN WATER, UNDERGROUND water; 2) sump pit is taking care about rain water and underground water for the house; 3) sump pump is not connected to back water valve, sump pump is not working as a background for back water valve, it works as a separate system; 4) when heavy rain is outside, PLEASE take extra attention how you use water at that moment. 5) IF FLAPPER is closed to keep city sewer away form your basement you have limited space to use toilets. Try to not use dishwasher, laundry showers at the time of thunderstorms. Insurance companies are not covering anymore houses with no back water valves installed. 6) Every year before rainy season check your back water valve by opening the access and checking the flapper. It has to be fully open cassette. 7) Let me know if any other question you would like to cover, I am in the office form 6.45am to 10pm, ask technical department.

    Commercial Space/Bakery

I am a new business owner, and just finished a 2000sqf bakery, Before hiring Anta Plumbing, I must of interviewed at least 15 Plumbers, this is a very important part of my business, so being careful was a must. After reviewing quotes, and meeting all the contractors, I decided that Anta was the was to go, and I have to say I was nervous about the job's size (and all the unforeseen complication) They showed up on time every day! they were so organized! Everything was done to code! and they completed the job perfectly! I can not say enough good things about them, Price was right on par with everyone (and maybe less). Feel free to contact me for references or even to stop by the space to see their work. Igor was the one handling the project, and by far, one of the best worker I have met!

    Answer from pro:

Thank you so much Fred! That is very kind of you to offer your name and business as reference. We will pass your comments on to Igor and the crew involved. Projects the size and nature of yours can certainly be stressful for business owners and homeowners in the planning stages. Our goal here at Anta is to help alleviate that stress by providing trained professionals who can assist with the planning stages, advising on matters such as code that the average person is not always aware of, while offering affordable and comprehensive pricing. We are happy to know we have succeeded. It is a pleasure to deal with customers such as yourself who make themselves aware of the details and requirements of the services we provide, and we applaud you for that. We look forward to being of service to you in the future, large or small projects. We wish you the best of luck with your new business venture!

    Rough In Plumbing

I called Anta to do a rough in plumbing job a while back over the year warranty. I now did final plumbing and discovered issues such as shower head not centred to faucet witch is a problem with the cement board installed. Using my sink upstairs and noticing that the drain they installed for the rough in has a leak this is not acceptable for such a reputable company. Customer service about these issues has been unsuccessful granted the job was done sometime ago but has not been touched since their job. So my point is make sure they check there work before they leave IE: test for leaks. If it wasn't for my inspector telling them to do a pressure test that would not off happened either. Not the best experience as the guy doing my job was very fast and not even focused on the job at hand witch is do it right the first time and test everything and give visual inspection before they leave.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you for sharing your opinion with us! It is very helpful for our office to take the right steps to prevent mistakes and take our workmanship to a higher level. Three years ago our plumbers did pipe installations; the Inspector passed the installation and accepted the pressure test, no leaks or any other concerns were presented from your side, nor from the Inspector and you paid the contract in full with your signature of acceptance. One week ago, almost 3 years after, we received a call to the office with a request to provide the quote for a final installation. Following standard procedure we sent a plumber to provide you with a quote. A licensed plumber provided you with all the details and a quotation. As a customer you had the choice to accept the quote or look for more estimates, and we understand and appreciate both ways. The original rough quote for installation we provided three years ago was higher than we offered you this year just as appreciation. The offer was still not accepted by you. We wish to keep every customer happy with quality, price and workmanship, but we are not able to protect ourself from this type of compromise; after we didn't find the right price for you we received another call to the office to do the installation or we will be given a bad review. We hope that this site is helpful for any customer who is looking for good contractors, for quality and for stability. Bargaining through manipulation of a review service is not the right way to find the final solution. The contractor and the consumer should both be able to make a choice. With best wishes, Anta Team.

Clay pipe replacement and back water valve installation

When we found that tree roots were growing into our clay pipe main sewage line, we contacted a number of companies to learn about options and obtain quotes. Of the companies that we spoke to, AnTa offered the best combination of price, quality and technology. They started and completed the work on time. Their crew were courteous and careful and did an excellent job with clean up. When they encountered an unexpected problem, they did not attempt to pass the problem on to us, but instead called in extra crew to get the job done on time and on budget.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Rebecca! So nice to hear that you are pleased with Anta's dedication and service to our customers. Tree roots certainly can cause thier share of problems when it pertains to underground pipes and drains. Sometimes we forget that the roots of a tree go roughly as deep into the ground as the tree is tall. In your situation the roots caused damage to the older clay pipe that connects you to the City main line. A very common situation actually. And as you have experienced, no two jobs are alike and the unexpected can happen at any time. These challenges are part and parcel of the job, Our teams are among the best in the field, and take great pride in ensuring that our customers recieve high quality service at a fair price. We thank you for choosing Anta Plumbing and look forward to being of service to you in the future.
