    Roughed in plumbing in Basement

I found A McKenna Plumbing on the web. Gave them a call along with a few other plumbers. I chose Mckenna because they first of all showed up on time to quote me and then actually showed up on time for the job. The nice thing was that I got exactly what I was expecting at the exact price I was expecting. These guys came early in the morning over the weekend were very professional and friendly. I have nothing but positives to say about this company.

    Various plumbing projects

    A. McKenna plumbing staff have worked at my house doing various plumbing jobs and they have always surpassed my expectations. I find them to be professional, knowledgeable and trustworthy. They are quick to respond in terms of phone calls and visits and always charge me a fair price for their work. I have met a lot of tradesmen since we started to do small projects at our house and Mark and his team stand out. I always recommend them to my friends and family. Will for sure call them again!

    Blocked Toilets

Mark and his brother came over the same day that I called them to help me understand why my toilets were blocking intermittently. They helped me understand that the problems were related to the age of two of my older toilets, rather than a main drainage block as I had thought. The other toilets in the house, which are newer and more robust, did not have the same problem. They didn't charge a thing and gave me good advice on my next bathroom reno project as well. I will certainly call them again.

Thanks for the kind words. Nice to meet you and your family. Mark Mckenna

Rough-in and finishing of a basement finishing project

I have been a local basement building company for over 22 years, and had been very satisfied with the plumbing contractor I had been using for the last number of years. Sadly Mike chose to retire well before me. After much asking around for a new plumbing contractor, I kept hearing the same name time, and time again. I finally picked up the phone and called Mark at A. Mckenna Plumbing and was delighted to actually get a live voice on the other end, which is not common in the renovation industry ! From the first meeting with Mark, to the actual implementation of the clients wishes, the overall first job was met with a high degree of knowledge and professionalism. Between Mark and his associate plumbers, the experience went off without a hitch, in an industry that is known to be wrought with shortcomings. Mark, thanks so much, I look forward to working with you again soon. I would not have a problem what so ever in recommending you to clients, family, and friends. Thanks again !

    plumbing final

I'm shocked at all the positive reviews Mark has received! I do know that he prefers to do wealthier homes because people are more willing to pay for services. Regardless, his appearance may seem professional but, I assure you, his work is not! Stay away, not worth the headaches! Caught him sneaking out of my house to go do another job because he likes turnover! Wants to take on as many jobs as he can. Unfortunately, the functioning of my plumbing suffered as a result! Long story short. Installed toilettes that leaked. Installed a drainage pipe for a sink and now I can't close the drawer because he didn't measure the length of the pipe correctly. Installed my soaker tub incorrectly and now the overflow drain does not match up with it's opening. Installed the sump pump reservoir incorrectly and now the resevoir/container that holds the actual sump pump is slowly rising up being squeezed up by the surrounding rock. Installed a drainage pipe for my sink that leaks because the actual pvc pipe is cracked. I could go on and on but, I won't. All I will say is that the Oakville inspector that saw his work on my home say's it some of the worse he has seen. Move on to someone else before you go to this company. BTW - never takes responsibility. He constantly blames his colleagues for anything that he serviced. Very arrogant! update*** Mark was the 2nd plumber that worked on our home after we let go the first plumber to which “Mark” agreed had overcharged us for the work they had done. However, the first plumber(s) we let go PASSED the town of Oakville's rough in inspection stage! “Mark” agreed to do the finishing work in our home that included the soaker tub. However, after his carpenter did not build the soaker tub box correctly as per “Mark's” direction. “Mark” wanted to charge us for the additional cost of aligning the overflow pipe to the overflow opening!? The town of Oakville does not generate reports on items incomplete and “Mark” knows this, that’s why he’s asking to see it. However, they do specify whether an inspection has passed or failed. “Mark's” work for the final inspection of our plumbing inspection Failed! It is on record with the Town of Oakville as a 'Fail". Feel free “Mark” to ask for it if you wish! As with his other work. Toilettes, Faucets and Sinks. They can only be determined to work once you have had a chance to use them. “Mark” did not offer the opportunity to use them. I had to pay immediately when he was finished! This is why I paid the $5000! “Mark” insisted that I pay immediately and I insisted that I would wait and pay once I passed final inspection. I showed good faith by paying as he demanded thinking that his work was to code. I am not a plumber, I do not know what is acceptable for building code. I trusted him! However, I would not have paid had I known that the inspector would not approve his work. I would have held back at least 15% of final payment as per industry standard if that option was offered to me. Please get your facts straight “Mark”. The Oakville inspector has no problem speaking with you, if you wish. We have all the emails between us. I will also posts the pictures of the “monstrosity” you created in my basement w.r.t. the Dishwasher Trap if you would like? Would that be ok?

A Mckenna Plumbing was hired as the third Plumbing Comany on Jims new home build after two Companys were asked to leave. A Mckenna Plumbing took on the project because it seemed the homeowners were having troble finishing the project on their own. We had explained clearly that A Mckenna Plumbing would do whatever we could to fix the issues at hand. All work was done to Ontario Plumbing code standards, all toilets and sinks were fully operational when the work was completed. The issues came up when EXTRA WORK to the aggreed apon was mentioned. When explained that any additional work to be done beyond the original agreed apon price would be EXTRA as well some of the work done by the Company prior to our involvement my have to be redone due to Ontario Plumbing Code standards. Jim payed the bill infull. JIM why would you pay the bill if A Mckenna Plumbing did not complete it's part of the contract????? To date A Mckenna Plumbing has not recieved any Inspection documents outlining any of the above infraction. A Mckenna Plumbing Ltd (Mark Mckenna)has been servicing Oakville and Mississauga since 2001, with over 9000 customers we have earned a Stellar reputation for honesty and workmanship.

    Kitchen Sink Blockage

I called Mark because i was very happy with a job he did for me in the summer. Time was a factor in this case as the blockage rendered my kitchen unusable. I called Mark at 10pm and he was able to fit me in around noon the very next day. After trying a few different things and re-piping under the sink and replacing the drains with brand new ones (simply because they were old and in dis-repair) Mark refused to take payment because the initial blockage remained a mystery. Mark had to rush to another job but happily referred another company that specialized in my specific issue.... At the end of the day it turned out to be Ice/frozen and everything worked out. I will continue to call Mark and refer anyone who asks. Jason

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Jason, glad to see everything worked out for you. Speak to you soon. Mark

    Shower Cartridge

Recently moved into our home and noticed the shower faucet water hard to get hot water. Called a well known Plumbing company off the internet. I was assured a Licenced Plumber was coming. When the teck arrived he had no licence. He looked at the valve and seemed not to be familiar with the Brand. He then went to his truck and called his office. When he returned he told me that the faucet and company was no longer in business. His soloution was to remove the valve at a cost of $1250.00. When I said I wasn't going to go ahead with the job the teck was rude and demanded $165.00 call out fee. I then called A Mckenna Plumbing, spoke to Mark Mckenna He asked me to take a picture with my Blackberry and Email to him. Within 2 days he had one sent to my home and one of his Plumbers Adam came over to replace. All at a cost $295.00 inc parts and labour. Beware always hire local

Repair Kohler toilets, Install new laundry in basement

Just had Mark from A Mckenna Plumbing come out to take a look at 4 Kohler toilets that were not working. Mark was recomended by our local plumbing wholesaler, he inspected the toilets and gave a recomdation to fix 3 that were in good shape, and replace one that would be costly to repair. Mark new the product inside and out, was very quick and did not charge us for his advice. My husband and i hired him the following day to do the work. A Mckenna showed up on time and completed very quickly. Best experiance with a contractor ever!!!

    plumbing issue

I recently had an issue with my shower and bath tube, where I was getting water leaking down the inside of the wall, and a bath tube that was no draining. I called a drain company in to fix the plugged up drain, and was hoping they could fix the leak in the back as wall. I was told the tiles would have to be broken out and that the drain would have to be snaked, and that my shower was going to be out of commission for a week, I asked to see qualification and neither of the 2 guys could show me any. So I called A.Mckenna plumbing. Adam came qualified and fixed the leak with out breaking my tiles, as well as unclogged the drain, all of this done in 4 hours, he was professional and respectful, and I will call them again if I have any other problems.

    Thanks Adam
