Furnace
I have had nothing but problems with reliance. I initially scheduled a tune up for my furnace and two times the technician didn't show up. On the third time, they showed up and that's when they said I needed a new furnace, mine wasn't fixable. That's when the problems started. On Christmas Eve two installers installed the smart air 1000. They said it was normal for there to be odours so I thought the slight gas smell is what they meant. Along with that they said that I should buy some spray foam and fill the hole to the outside. Shouldn't they do that?? They also we're not wearing the paper booties and my floor was mud covered.
Over the holidays the furnace seemed to be on most of the time and wasn't blowing out warm air, it actually felt cool. I called this week to have it looked at because my temperature wouldn't go above 66. A technician came 2 days later, Steve # 5630, and he was fantastic. Apparently the installers didn't set up the temp, it was firing on low. That was a five minute fix. The gas smell was not a five minute fix though. The installers created 4 separate gas leaks, 1 going to the hot water heater and 3 to the furnace. This is horrendous! I have a cat and a dog and also had guests over Christmas. I hate to think of what could have happened! I lived with these leaks for over a week, I was feeling dizzy and had a sore throat, but I just thought it was because of the time of year but as the technician fixed them there was more in the house and I started to get my sore throat again. Today I feel fine, I aired the house out after he fixed all the leaks.
The whole process was very, very bad. The only good thing was the technician Steve who was very professional, and punctual.
The installers were not reliance employees, I think it's sad that the contracted out employees don't seem to be held up to the same standards that their regular employees are. They should have higher standards considering the job that they do, or don't do, can be very dangerous if done incorrectly, as seen by me. Very disappointed.
