Purchase and installation of back patio and front door

BUYER BEWARE.... We moved into our home which needed a replacement of the back sliding door and enhancement of the front door. Loyal Seal was the first company I called for a quote. Stan came and gave us a quote and I informed him that even though I liked his verbiage on warranty, policies, and follow up on service and product, I would still have to get quotes from other companies for comparability. I got 4 other quotes of which Loyal Seal was NOT the cheapest but Stan made me feel comfortable so I reached out to him and he matched my low quote on August 6, 2013. THAT WAS THE LAST TIME I HEARD FROM STAN!!! The sliding door and front door were installed on August 28, 2013 but within days we noticed deficiencies. My husband called Stan's cell phone repeatedly to let him know we needed someone to come out and take a look. STAN DID NOT RESPOND. On September 9 I sent a text message to Stan with a picture of one of the discrepancies to which STAN DID NOT REPLY. My husband called again on October 1....NO REPLY. I then called the main line on October 24 and spoke to Sonia letting her know my address, name and issues and Stan was not getting back to me. She let me know Mirella would call..... I told Sonia that I was VERY irate in that I didn't have to go with Loyal Seal but Stan gave a nice song and dance and now was not backing up the product/service. I gave them some time (from Oct25-Nov4) to follow up as I was going in for surgery...NO CALL BACK DURING THAT TIME. I called again on Nov 4 in which they AGAIN took my name, address, and issue information and said they would pass the information to Mirella. Mirella called me back on Nov 6 and asked that I send pictures via email. I did on Nov7... Mirella called me back to AGAIN confirm what the issue was and said she would contact Stan. I called back on Nov 14 as to that date, NO PHONE CALL, NO RESOLUTION. On Nov 18, I called for the last time and said that I have been calling for two months and have gotten the run-around and if I didn't hear back by EOW Nov22, that I would be putting in a formal complaint with the BBB. Mirella called back on Nov 18 and said she passed my file to another company that would be following up on a service visit. She also said if I don't hear from them to call her back. I should not have to call her back. Loyal Seal should be following up on issues, not the customer.....TO DATE I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THIS OTHER COMPANY OR LOYAL SEAL... I have formally put in a complaint with the BBB. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone as from this experience, I feel that they will take the sale, however, will not follow up on any service or product issues. They seemed very unorganized; as I had to give my information EVERYTIME I called.

    Answer from pro:

Dear Joanne, We are sorry to hear that you have been having issues with your newly installed products. The reason you were unable to reach Stan at the time is due to the fact that he was no longer employed by Loyal Seal windows and doors for personal reasons. As you may recall, the issue you were having was a crack in the transom above your door. As stated in our contract and industry standards, glass breakage or cracks of any kind are not covered by warranty. Upon completing the installation at your home, our installer inspected the products with you and you have signed a completion certificate stating your satisfaction with the product and installation. We have offered you to replace the transom at cost price, an offer which you declined. Should you change your mind please do not hesitate to contact our office.

1/2 windows and doors of a large size home

I bought a home with 1/2 of the windows and doors replaced by Loyal Seal Windows by the previous owner. After 1 month, I found 1 set of 4 panel windows leaking. After some additional investigation as we had several raining days in October, 2013, I found the source of the leak. Loyal Seal Windows leak. Let me repeat, Loyal Seal Windows leak. And COMPANY DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT EVEN IF YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. I got Loyal seal windows contact from the previous owner. When I first called them, they indicated I should email them. I did, with attached photo. No one replied after 1 week. Then I called again, and the receptionist said someone will read my email. No reply after another 10 days. Then, I emailed them again, finally a representative called me. After finding out that I am not the original owner who had the windows done, she indicated that the warranty does not apply. I understand why they would do this to minimize cost, but when you buy a second hand car, if there is defective or manufacture recall, the manufacture covers it. Anyways, I simply asked that it would be appropriate if someone comes over to take a look. If the defective window isn't covered, to be consistent with other windows, I could still replace that, most likely at my own cost. The representative indicated that it is a $120 for a service call to come and take a look. Then, I specifically told her that I will pay for a defective window but please come and look at it first to verify without the service call charge. Loyal Seal was not willing. Also, 2nd week of November was quite windy, on the 2nd floor, another set of Loyal Seal windows had very strong cold draft coming from it. I went to a set of old windows on the same floor facing the same side, and there is no cold draft. Loyal Seal does not stand behind their product. Their window leaks. This is consistent with several other reviews that you will find here. AND, they won't even help if you are willing to pay. Quite unbelievable. I give them 1 star because the representative on the phone called me, and returned my call, and answered my questions.

    Answer from pro:

Dear Mr. Wang, As you are not our customer we are at no obligation to provide you with free service. Due to high volume of false alarm service requests we charge a minimal fee to send a service technician to examine a problem. In order to minimize unnecessary costs to OUR clients we request pictures and an email describing the problem. Just by viewing your photo, it is absolutely clear that you are experiencing condensation issues (NOT leaking windows). During the winter months when humidity in the home is high and the temperature outside is very low, it is normal to experience condensation on the inside surface of the glass, especially when you have window covers such as shutters. The water drips to the bottom of the window and leaves marks on the frame (as evident in your own pictures which you have attached) Thank you

Dear Jerry, We find this message very unclear and no detail is given by you to indicate the problems you have had. However, as stated in your message, you were unhappy and refused to pay the full balance as compensation. As per your contract with us, we do not provide service or warranty on jobs with outstanding balances.

Entry door & sliding patio door

I had a couple of quotes already from other companies until I contacted Stan. The price he gave me was reasonable and it only took 3-4 weeks for him to get the entry door ready to what we wanted. The guys arrived on time and did an excellent job installing the doors. The kids in my neighborhood even complimented us how nice the door looks. My wife loves them.

Thank you for your review, please do not hesitate to call us in the future for all you windows and doors needs.

Replacing Bay Windows - Thornhill, June 2013

I have called Motti from Loyal Seal Windows & Doors in order to get a quote for replacing 2 Bay windows that were sealed from the outside by previous owner and their frames were in a very bad shape. Motti came to the meeting as scheduled and presented me with the product. Not only was Motti very knowledgeable and explain to me the differences between the different kind of windows and their respective level of insulation, he was also very pleasant to deal with and a man of word The product was ordered, delivered and installed in a very reasonable time frame and the price was very compatible. The installation was done very professionally and the outcome is GREAT After couple of weeks, Motti followed up by calling me and making sure I am satisfied with the product. I have already refereed one of my friend and they were very happy too. I will certainly call Motti again, once I will need to replace the windows in the upper floor and I will certainly recommend him to anyone I know. Thank you Motti for exceptional level of customer service and for delivering everything as promised Alon - Thornhill, ON June 2013

    Porch

My porch was leaking all over and it was about time to replace it. When Matthew came over to quote the job, I was impressed with what was shown to me but I still decided to get more quotes. After a couple more, I knew I wanted to call Matthew back. He was professional, always returned my calls and answered my many picky questions. But the best part was that the job was done exactly the way I wanted it, for the price I had in mind. I have had to deal with salesmen on many occasions and I vouch for Matthew and I am extremely satisfied with my experience with him and Loyal Seal. I highly recommend anyone who needs a new porch.

Replacement of Storm Doors and windows

I have only good things to say about this company. Stan came to give us an estimate on the work we wanted to be done, and he did so very courteously and knowledgeably. He took the time to explain and demonstrate (with a heat lamp) the variety of options for windows, never pressuring however. I found his approach to be very helpful throughout. Considering we were combining the purchase of a few different products, Stan made us very competitive offers (surpassing the offer of another company). Installation happened a month earlier than others had offered, and the installers were VERY professional, courteous and thorough. They went the extra mile in every respect, and were exceedingly friendly. Great workmanship as well. Stan, who does the sales, even arrived partway through the day to check in on the job and to make sure we were happy with the results. I can't recommend this company highly enough. :)

    Front door and 5 window

I had a great experience dealing with Matthew who demonstrated outstanding knowledge and patience. It took us a while to shop around, but we ultimately decided to go with Matthew, and we're so glad we did! The door is gorgeous and our windows look fantastic.

    Windows for the whole house

We just had Loyal Seal replace all of the windows in our house. The entire process was very easy and stress free. The salesman Stan came to our house first, showed different styles and samples of the windows. Very helpful and knowledgeable man, patient and not pushy. Reasonable price as well. We signed a contract and the final exact measurements were taken a few days later. On the installation day, the installers arrived on time and were very professional and efficient. They took the old windows away and cleaned the worksite. The new windows look absolutely beautiful and we would like to thank Loyal Seal for their service and expertise. We would definitely recommend this company to others.

    Windows

We ordered 9 new awning-style windows for our home and a new exterior door, plus an additional 3 windows for installation in our daughter's home. We chose Loyal Seal because they were a recommended installer for WindowCity-manufactured windows -- we had three other windows of that make installed a few years ago and have been very happy with them. (Previous company that installed for us was not available this time around.) Loyal Seal salesman was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Once we placed the order, it took a couple of weeks before someone came out to measure at our house. Had an issue with measuring at our daughter's home as someone just showed up unannounced since he was "in the neighbourhood" (they were supposed to call first) and the fellow became upset that she would not let him in (she was not comfortable as she was alone, not fully dressed, and dog was going nuts). Took another couple of weeks before she finally got an appointment for measurements; now waiting for her installation. We had windows and door installed at our home over two days a week ago and installers did a great job, nicely finished. Next day, however, we noticed on one window that weatherstripping gasket along the entire top had come away and drooped across the window. And on the same window, the right side would no longer latch as the window was not closing fully on that side. Loyal Seal rep came out a few days later and adjusted the window so the latch now closes, but will have to order a new window because of the gasket issue (he had suggested cutting the drooping gasket and just putting in caulking, a solution that we found unacceptable on a brand-new window). Also had another issue that could possibly be avoided with better communication: We had custom blinds set inside the casings on all our windows. The window installation required replacement of the casings, i.e. brick-to-brick (still not exactly sure why, since this was not required for the previous windows we had replaced a few years ago) and when we went to reinstall our blinds we discovered to our horror that none of them fit as the new casings were narrower by about 1/8 - 1/4"! The installer was also the guy who had done the measuring so obviously could see that we had fitted blinds. It would have been helpful to have a discussion at that point about the fit of the blinds -- one would think the casings could have been adjusted at the time of installation to ensure they would be the right size for reinstallation of the blinds. Too late now so we are in the position of trying to cut down the blinds ourselves (unable to get this done where we bought them; we tried) or spend several hundred dollars on all new blinds. Not happy.

    Answer from pro:

Dear Nancy, We are sorry to hear that you were experiencing problems with reinstalling your blinds, however to avoid these issues it is clearly stated on the front page of our contract that removal and reinstallation of all window covering is the responsibility of the customer. Thank you.
