In Spring 2020, the HIP renovated our master bathroom ensuite. From start to finish, it was a perfect experience working with this company. Elia and Gerhard were thorough, organized, and provided great advice for our project. Our crew, Nadia, John, and Elvis, were amazing, hard working and talented. All areas - tiling, painting, planning the work efficiently, installation of fixtures - were done with a high degree of precision. The crew was also very personable, and they listened closely when we had questions or concerns along the way. They cleaned up well at the end of each day. The end result turned out exactly as we hoped it would, and the whole experience was stress free once we started working with the HIP. Our master ensuite is now the nicest room in our house. We look forward to working with the HIP on future renovation projects.

Had HIP replace an old tub, shower tiles, and hardware. They prepared a design for me and coordinated supply and delivery of all materials; I just needed to coordinate with them for when they could come to do their demolition and installation work. They were very easy to work with and did a great job. The shower looks great!

Hello, This is just a quick note to take the time to acknowledge the great service we received from Kris Ramkissoon and his team of home improvement people. Kris was by far the best contractor we have ever worked with, and after owning a few homes over the years, we can say without any hesitation that we we received the best service EVER! His professionalism and organization was unsurpassed, and the work itself was by far the best we have ever experienced. Our new bathroom, painted kitchen and hallways, and new staircase banister + hand rail are fantastic and beautifully crafted & designed! We now feel like we live in a hotel now! Thanks you soooo much and we wish you continued success with your business!

Earlier this spring, my wife and I were looking to have our outdated basement renovated. We were sick of the cold tiles and looking at the 70's wood panelling. While researching contractors on Homestars we discovered The Home Improvement People. We read several outstanding reviews and decided to call them up. To our surprise, Dan came over a few days later to have a look at it. He is very friendly and professional and was able to give us a quote on the spot. We got a good feeling from him and asked him to come back with his contractor, Elia, the following week. We went through the basement with Dan and Elia, telling them what we wanted and they came up with an actual quote that we felt was very reasonable and said they'd be able to start demo the following week and that the whole project would take about 4 weeks. The actual demo only took 1 day and it was quite surreal to see the basement opened up to bare, concrete walls. There were a lot of people that first day but the workers worked fast and they were very polite. Elia was always available by phone or text to answer any questions and usually responded within 5 minutes. Him always being available helped us to trust that the job was going to be finished on time. Christian had all of the framing done on day 2 and was running speaker wire and setting up the bar area. We did find a small water leak in one corner of the basement and Elia was on top of it and had his waterproofing guy, Vlad come to look at it that afternoon. The guys from Umbrella Waterproofing did a great job and had the problem fixed within 3 days. The electrician came to wire the outlets and pot lights but the rest of the reno was done mostly by Mark. He really worked hard, never left for the day until he was satisfied and took a lot of pride in his work. Once the final bit of carpet had been put down, it had been almost 4 weeks exactly. Right on time! We asked to delay putting in the railing for the stairs a week so we would have an easier time getting furniture into the basement. When we were ready we called Elia and they had it put in. With a big job like this we were a little worried going in, but the Home Improvement People gave us exactly what we wanted and made the whole experience pretty painless. We finally have a place that we can enjoy as a family and entertain friends. We look forward to working with The Home Improvement People again on our next project and would recommend them to anyone (and already have.)

All of the 10/10 reviews here are a testament to how great the HIP are; if I could give them an 11/10, I would. From start to finish, the entire team was fantastic to deal with in turning our unfinished basement into a beautiful and inviting space. Phillip, our estimator, took us through all of the options available to us at the outset, and quickly understood what we were looking for and translated it into a clear quote that was competitive with several others we had obtained. Our project manager Elia gave us a firm start date, and the work actually got underway a few days ahead of schedule. Christian and Carlos were absolutely outstanding. They clearly explained the process every step of the way, answered our many questions whenever they came up, and talked us through a few options and gave great advice (in a couple of cases, suggesting ideas we never would have thought of, and ended up doing). They did excellent work themselves, and kept us informed of when to expect the various trades, each of whom were equally friendly and professional. The job was completed within the scheduled timeline of eight weeks, and there was someone working on our project for pretty much every weekday of that period (and even on a couple weekends). The end result exceeded our expectations; the pictures don’t do it justice. We were hoping for a look and feel that would match the rest of the house (we didn’t want a stark, “rec room” vibe), and our finished basement may have become our new favorite part of the house. We were extremely happy with the amazing quality of our bathroom renovation, and also with the process during the work. We completely changed layout (see before and after), and it was a challenging job, but the team stayed on schedule and was able to work around the issues found under the floorboards. Nadia, John and Cornell were an all-star team, very respectful of our space, efficient, friendly and exceptionally skilled. Every detail of the bathroom is immaculate, and we could not be happier with the result! The reno was completed a year ago and it has stood the test of time as well.

We purchased a condo and wanted to do a complete reno before moving in. We got 3 quotes and ended up choosing The Home Improvement People. Originally, there was no particular reason for choosing HIP over the other companies other than we had a good experience dealing with Chris who came to do the quote (twice, when we changed our mind about the kitchen). But, we are glad we chose them. From Chris to Elia to Gerhard, the project manager, to Dima and Slav who actually did the work, we were very happy with the experience. They showed up when they said they would, worked until the job was completely finished. Dima and Slav worked tirelessly and without complaint when we made changes to the job on the fly. If we asked for a wall to go somewhere or a different finish to be used, it was done without issue. They were also helpful in making suggestions when we weren't quite sure which way to go. Our kitchen supplier was delayed in delivering the cabinets and HIP had to leave the project until they arrived but, as soon as the cabinets were installed, they were back on the site. Gerhard and Elia responded quickly to any concerns or questions we had. There was only one minor issue and that was that, when our hardwood flooring was installed, it wasn't covered for the remainder of the construction. As a result, there were many marks on it. To their credit, HIP worked with us and helped us with a workable solution. We also musn't forget Charlotte who really helped us with the decisions over colour and tile choices. Overall, in this day and age of horror stories involving contractors who take the money and either don't show up or abandon the project before finishing, HIP was terrific in helping relieve the stress involved in a reno of this scale.

Unbelievably fast, meticulous, and great to work with. Loved Gerhard's crew including, Nuco and Kyle. (Gerhard - the contractor, was terrific.) I had one full bathroom renovation with new shower, vanity, floors, toilet, electrical..,, powder room renovation with new toilet, sink, floor.. and then an extra toilet and tub installed in third bath. With all that and painting, removing two cast iron tubs and many other extras - all done in seven days and left clean and perfect. Cannot recommend him highly enough. Had to restrain myself from hugging them when they left. Be advised that they do require you to have all the materials at site when they start. The price does not include materials.

We have used the HIP previously for two bathroom reno's and had no hesitation contracting them for our basement, The workmanship was excellent, The project finished on time and on budget as quoted, Eli and his team could not do enough to to address our needs and alleviate any concerns one experiences through an major renovation like ours. I would highly recommend the HIP to all my friends and will use them again at our cottage in the future.
