I am adjusting my review. I just had my gutters cleaned and found lots of nails, wood pieces (from my old shake roof), and debris left in the gutters. Done Right said they cleaned out the gutters before leaving, but the guy who cleaned my gutters today said they didn't clean it at all. And he did blow off lots of debris, nails, and wood pieces to the ground. Not pleased with this.
We had to replace our pine shakes with a new roof. I got several quotes and researched different companies and roof products. Even though Done Right was the most expensive of the asphalt shingles (but still comparable), we choose them because they really did give us the confidence that they will get the job done right and will follow through if anything went wrong. We learned the hard way that a lengthy warranty means nothing if the company isn't willing or around to fulfill that warranty. We don't regret choosing Done Right. Cheesy name, but to the point! I had planned to be away during the job, but due to weather delays, ended up being around. Had to delay date twice, but was conveyed in a very courteous manner and understandable due to the snow and wind. The day of installation, there were 8 guys on the roof all working hard at their task! All day, and if they took breaks, we didn't even notice. The whole job was complete in two days! The garbage bin quickly filled up with our old pine shakes, and they somehow seamlessly changed to a new one. At one point we had to leave our house when they had just piled a whole bunch of debris on the front driveway. Fine for adults to walk through, but we had young kids. They quickly told the guys to stop up top and cleared up a path for us to get through. Even my young daughter mentioned how nice they were! They cleaned up as well as they could and even shovelled the snow off our large deck to make sure to get most of the debris. After the snow melted, I found some bits and pieces here and there, but that's expected. And they did say I can call them back to cleanup more after the snow melted. I didn't need to as it wasn't much. One of our solar lights was broken. It was just behind the garbage bin, so, when they were throwing our old shakes into the bin, some likely missed. I should have removed them before they started. But I didn't think of it at the time. Darcy was great as the initial contact. I had to cut our meeting short due to another commitment, but he was fine to speed up the explanations as best he could. Afterwards, I emailed him many questions, and he responded promptly and thoroughly to my satisfaction. Chau, the office admin, was amazing with customer service. She is extremely courteous on the phone. Dealt with my concerns and questions, and kept me informed with the process. In the end, I had requested pictures to be taken of the finished roof. This wasn't done. But Chau had a guy come that day just to take the pics. In the end, it wasn't emailed to me, but included in the final warranty package that was mailed out. The day after the roof was done, it snowed heavily. I was quite worried about the state of the roof and expressed it to Chau. She had the foreman phone me and he made me feel more comfortable with our decision to get the roof replaced in spring. He assured me the roof wouldn't leak and explained why. And even if it did, they would be back to fix it. Just the fact that they responded to me so promptly made me feel better. Best thing is I could charge the entire amount on credit card over the phone. Overall, we are extremely satisfied with this company! They made this big project as painless as possible for us!
