Review from HomeOwner Review left on 17 Sep 2010Rating: 5 out of 5After the old carpet was removed our floor was in pretty rough shape, but Harold from the Floormen did a marvelous job of bringing the floor back to its original beauty. The Floormen did the job in the time frame given, were very neat on the job as well, and very professional. Would not hesitate to recommend this company, they know hardwood inside out!Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

We recently hired Paul and Harold to sand and refinish the hardwood floors in our home and they did a very good job. It was obvious that they took pride in their work.Review from Izabella Izabella

My flooring situation has been a bit of a journey. The original hardwood flooring installed by the builder of my brand new home was defective / installed poorly. The short story is that I was compensated for this as I wanted to go my own way and have it done right. I spent a lot of time and energy ripping out the original flooring myself to make sure damage was minimized. I explained this all to Paul when we spoke. I had indicated I was very nervous about getting this done due to my past experiences and the time & effort I spent to remove the old flooring. I also indicated the type of wood I had was extremely hard and was a "structured" -- sort of engineered, but still solid wood. I also indicated the new flooring I had was extremely expensive (about $10/sq ft) and so I wanted it done 100% right. I must have said this 5 or 6 times. He assured me that he was okay with all of this. The quote provided was fairly high, but I was fine with that as generally you pay for what you get. They showed up exactly when they said they would and the actual installation is very good -- it is more of the care that was taken. They were POUNDING the boards together to make them fit. This left a few boards that now have visible cracks in them along the side that was pounded & stapled. A lot of boards are scratched... and they left a huge gouge on two boards. Considering the material that was installed is 3 times harder than Oak, I am not really sure what they did to cause so much damage. I thought this was all "normal" and even gave them a callback to have some more flooring installed. They were fully booked and could not make the dates I needed so I found someone else on Homestars. The new installers were considerably less expensive and overall did a considerably better job (in terms of care taken). They installed the exact same flooring (it was even the exact same run) and did not *POUND* the boards in place. They also used a waste board as a buffer to tap the new boards in place. And to top it all off, I showed them the flooring done by The Floormen and they fixed the two gouged boards no problem. I'm sure these guys (Floormen) do excellent work when the flooring is unfinished... but if you are doing pre-finished and are particular about scratches, etc then I would not recommend. Especially considering what they charged. Again, the actual installation is very good... it is just the care taken that irritates me. Especially considering what they charged and the price of the flooring I had installed. Sorry guys, no referrals from me on pre-finished flooring installs.Answer from pro:
After finishing the installation and cleaning up the job site, the customer told us he was very happy with the job. Absolutely no mention was made of any problems from the so called "pounding" to the scratches on the floor. The one scratch that was there could have been done by the customer or us, we don't know. But we fixed it to his satisfaction, and we were paid for our job. It was nearly two months later when we got a phone call about wanting us to install more of the same hardwood in his house. Over this two month period there was not one phone call expressing any concerns. The customer must of thought we were the right company to do the next phase of his installation!! Now this, I don't understand the problem. If we were good enough to be asked to do the next phase of installation, why all this?

Review left on 24 Aug 2010Rating: 5 out of 5Repair damaged floor, Sand and Stain
We hired Paul & Harold and their company called The Floormen to do repairs to our old 3/8 inch floor that had been there for at least 50 years. Paul & Harold seamlessly blended the old with the new floor and made it look simple. They then sanded the whole floor, stained it and then coated it for a beautiful finish. The job was fantastic. They saved us a lot of money by not having to put down new floors, and made them look brand new again. I would recommend Paul & Harold anytime, they are real craftsmen, who are honest and hard working.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner
Review left on 22 Aug 2010Rating: 5 out of 5Remove old floor, install new floor, sand and stain
Paul & Harold from The Floormen were hired to tear out our old hardwood floor and prepare and install a new 3/4 inch unfinished hardwood that required sanding, staining, and coating. They thought they were going to only remove one old floor, instead they found TWO floors that had been nailed on top of the other.. What a surprise! But once the new floor was installed and then finished with a lovely new stain and finish, our floors now look beautiful. Our thanks go out to Paul & Harold who did a magnificent job. If you need two pros who know their work, don't hesitate... get these guys!!Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner
Review left on 5 Jun 2010Rating: 5 out of 5Buffing and coating existing hardwood floor
I have an old hardwood floor that probably could not take another sanding. So I asked Paul & Harold what the best route would be. They said that just a simple buff and coat of the floor would bring it back to life. Boy were they right. For a little cost my floors look brand new. Thanks for the great advice. Paul & Harold from THE FLOORMEN arrived on Monday morning at 9 AM just as they said they would. By the end of the week our floors were brought back to life again after being covered in old carpet for many years. We couln'd believe they were the same floors. Paul and Harold made sure they were on time each day of the week and cleaned their job site each day before going home. I would certainly recommend them to anyone interested in two hardworking and skilled guys.Answer from pro:
It was a pleasure working with you, and wonderful to see how nice these old floors turned out. It is very satisfying for us to be able to use the old floors again and bring them back to life. They still have many more good years left in them!!

Review left on 3 Feb 2010Rating: 5 out of 5New Installation Of Hardwood Flooring Finished On Site
We hired the Floormen to do a custom installation of Clear Grade Unfinished White Oak Quarter and Rift Sawn Hardwood Finished in a Dark Stain on the main and second floors of our house. Right From the beginning Paul and Harold carefully guided us through the process. They showed us the difference in quality between manufacturers and help us to choose a colour that would match well with our existing décor. The final result exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend the Floormen to anyone looking to get the job done right the first time.
