    Fantastic Mantle and Bult-ins

    We highly recommend BlackForest Woodworking! We would give them 11/10 if we could. Initially, we met with multiple companies for estimates and not only was BlackForest the most affordable but Istvan (who also goes by Steven) had such a friendly personality and passion for woodworking that it made him the clear choice for us. Once the project got underway he made great suggestions and was honest with us about our choices, all to ensure the best outcome and that we got exactly what we wanted. In my experience with most tradespeople, they would only speak directly to my husband, even when I'm the one asking the questions. Istvan treated us both equally and our conversations made it feel like we had known him for some time! We are so happy with the final product and highly recommend this company.

    Entertainment unit/fireplace

    Steven designed and built an entertainment unit/fireplace for me in a 100+ year old home. It really makes the room more polished and made the space much more finished/useable for my family and guests. He is generous with good ideas and has great attention to detail. He is also just good to work with - I have a baby at home and he was always respectful about noise/mess. Would strongly recommend him and his company.

    Fireplace Mantel

    Steven did a wonderful job replacing my fireplace mantel. The quality of workmanship is top notch and Steven is professional and reliable. Highly recommend.

    Basement Wall Unit

    We worked with Istvan on a wall unit for a small basement den to accommodate various needs - a closet given that the room is used as an alternate entrance into the home, an electric fireplace for added warmth and for home office/entertainment purposes. Istvan created a balanced design that not only fulfilled all of our needs, but elevated the room's appearance. Details, which we would not have considered, like matching our existing baseboards to that of the unit exhibits his attention to detail and were much appreciated. We are very happy with the end result and it was so nice working with a professional who is reliable, meticulous and as invested in our project as we were. We look forward to working with Istvan in the future! Highly recommend!!

    Amazing Built-ins and Custom fireplace

    Steven did an amazing job in our built in bookshelves and also installed our 150 year-old antique fireplace mantle with another set of surrounding shelves. We couldnt be happier with the work it completely transformed our house.

    Built in wine bar and a hall closet

    I am an interior designer and I met Steven on a job site. We have worked together several times now. I have found Steven to be punctual, reliable, and to deliver a great product. I forgot also very charmingclients love him. I would highly recommend him excellent workmanship. Andrea Gray

    custom closets

    There was no closet in the room I had chosen to use as my bedroom, so I worked with Istvan to design a custom closet on the window wall. He had great ideas and executed the design beautifully. His work is always meticulous and he has a great sense of style. Well done team!

    Kitchen Island and wall unit perfection!

    This is our second time working with Istvan and Black Forest Woodworking. He was so helpful in helping us determine our requirements and then delivering and installing high quality pieces. Installation was seamless. He also made a great recommendation for a countertop fabricator who were professional and cost-effective. We highly recommend Black Forest for any woodworking project!

    Wall unit

    Steven and his team did an amazing job. From start to finish. The old world quality and craftsmanship is second to none. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an expert woodworker.

    Custom built-in cabinets and mantel

    Steven has been one of my favourite contractors to work with so far, he's extremely skilled and capable of designing and building anything that we could imagine, but also has a strong aesthetic sensibility to help us make subtle but difficult decisions. We had Steven design and build custom built-ins around our fireplace mantel, and a new mantel too. Everything was assembled immaculately, not to mention the workspace was completely cleaned after -- so rare! Steven was also extremely accommodating for changes and iteration. When we took apart our old mantel, we realized that we needed to rebuild the framing from scratch, and Steven consulted on how to best do that and worked with us to adjust the sizing of his mantel design to fit with the new framing that I put in. He kept his schedule flexible as we worked to prep our room for his install. Overall amazing experience, genuinely looking around the house now trying to think of more projects that we could use Black Forest Woodworking for!
