    House Items Move

I was looking to find movers to move my 3 bedroom house from Calgary to Montreal. After speaking with several moving companies, I decided to go ahead with Greenland Van Lines. Taylor, my booking agent, was very polite and professional and made sure everything was explained to me before the move. The crew came 2 hours later then I was expecting, but knowing long distance moves, I was totally fine with that. They wrapped all of the items I asked for. The delivery took place on the time frame provided before the move. In short, everything went as planned. Thank you Greenland.

    Moving YYZ - YVR

I was initially pleased with the quote I received. Although I requested multiple times from multiple reps a copy of the invoice. Especially since I gave my Visa details and had nothing to show for it. Horrible, just horrible customer service. Lacking integrity on all fronts. They ended up losing a bunch of boxes and items, which ended up costing almost as much to replace as the move itself. They offered me $50 but never followed through with that payment. Luckily, a sweet individual tracked me down as she had found a box with my name and my university degrees in it. She said she contacted Greenland multiple times to tell them she got the wrong box and they did nothing about it. Really poor showing Greenland.

I never am the kind of person who writes reviews, but in this case I wanted to.when my boyfriend booked Greenland Vanlines I read some of the reviews and was a little concerned. But they far surpassed my expectations and they were amazing from the first day untill after delivery. I recommend this guys if you are moving in Canada.

Move from Ottawa/ Belleville to Toronto

Worst moving experience EVER.Moving 2 houses, took over 2 months when promised 2 days. Stood me up for over 18 hours on various occasions. Broke things, forgot a couch, forgot a storage locker, left electrical equipment out in the rain. Nothing but a nightmare.

    Moving across country

I moved from Hamilton, Ontario to Calgary, Alberta in August 2014. I decided to go with GLV as they provided me with the cheapest quote for my move. This is a very competitive sales industry as some companies are still calling me to provide quotes. Anyways, I started researching reviews for GLV (bad idea) as they had the worst reviews by previous customers! I even emailed head office saying I felt very uncomfortable and dissatisfied with what I've learned about their business. They responded saying they wished the more satisfied customers would take the time to write a review. The day before moving day, GLV called to let me know what time they were going to load up my stuff. (I had a one bedroom apartment) They arrived on time and the three movers worked very well together and took care of my stuff. They hand wrapped fragile items and told me to sit back and relax while they took care of loading all my stuff. Everything was packed up in 45 minutes and off they went. It took about 24 days for my stuff to arrive in Calgary as apparently the stuff is loaded by train then freight. I called head office a few times wondering when my stuff were to arrive. There was a lot of miscommunication between myself and what head office would advise. Nothing I could do but continue to wait. When my stuff arrived, the movers called me on a Friday night and showed up with my stuffed Saturday evening. I wasn't able to have the elevators serviced due to this poor timing. The unloading movers were, again, hard workers and doing their best to get work done. They were quick and friendly and gentle with my belongings. The company had even wrapped items such as my bed and side tables. There was absolutely no damage done nor any items missing! Amen to the movers..... head office - not so much. Thank you GLV & I would more than likely use your services again.

Move from Halifax, NS to Airdrie, AB

Against all the reviews on this site, I decided to give these guys a shot because their initial customer service appeared good and their agent Steve was pleasant and professional. The main decision maker was their price. They came in much lower than the competition and with a move of this distance and expense, price did matter. Pickup day - NO SHOW. I called the driver and he was in Moncton on an unload and was completely unaware (per his report) that he was supposed to be loading me today. I had to cancel hotels and I lost some deposits at Wisconsin waterparks but due to the inconvenience this caused, they did offer me a $100 credit. The actual load went well. The loader was friendly but their team was small and this was the longest move ever. At just over 10,000 lbs the typical moving crew could load us in about 7-8 hours. They were at our house for 12 hours. It was a two man crew which seemed inefficient as after our effects were loaded outside, the crew chief then had to play Tetris with our stuff and load the truck for another 90 minutes. We needed storage and I asked for 2 months free storage which they gave to me. I then completed my move two months later when we secured a home in Airdrie. Again the crew that unloaded us was friendly and appeared to be competent. I was disturbed that they did not re-assemble anything they disassembled (beds, desks, etc) They were not even cross checking our items against the manifest which I am now in the process of filing a claim for multiple broken items, and three lost area rugs. They broke our BBQ, picnic table, couch, a "fragile" box arrived crushed, our filing cabinet, and worst was the coffee table they smashed and had the nerve to attempt to glue it back together and accidentally left their wood clamp on the table which we found when it was unloaded. Even more disturbing was the movers opinion of Greenland's dispatch department. They don't know up from down and are the most chaotic group of people ever. They work their movers to the bone and care NOTHING for staff turn-around. Their movers work 6-10 days straight and put in 12-18 hour days. That will result in damages due to fatigue alone. I gave them 1 star because of a few pleasant dealings with them, but overall, I would never ever use these guys again and I highly advise you all to avoid these guys. I can't make this crap up. This was my final move after retiring from the Canadian Forces and if I could do it all again, I would have paid the extra $4000 and moved with other companies. Stick with the pros guys.

    Moving Toronto - Edmonton

I had worst experience ever with Greenland Van Lines. They could say weight 5 days after pick-up, when I asked to provide scale ticket - they didn't do that. They were very rood answering my phone calls. I waited my delivery 1 month - terms were put further every day. I was e-mailing and calling to deal about weight and invoice amount - as they added extra charges which wasn't included in estimate. Then they send revised invoice but without my permission charged my visa card for previous amount what was $300 extra. It is not stress free, smooth delivery. It's unfair business with terrible attitude to the client.

    Move from Toronto to Montreal

I recently hired Greenland to move my things from Toronto to Montreal, with pick-up on Friday and delivery on Saturday. I chose Greenland because despite the negative reviews, they were willing to accommodate my small load (<1000 lb) with no extra fee. The pick-up went well. They called the day before and said they would arrive between 7-9 pm. They came at 8 pm, and the everything went smoothly. I got a call later that night saying they would deliver my things between 11 am and 3 pm the next day. They didn't arrive until nearly 6 pm. (After we drove all night to Montreal.) Apparently they couldn't weight my things, so we agreed on an estimated weight. Then, when they were about to unload my things, they said they would have to charge an extra fee for stairs. However, I was told in a previous email that there wouldn't be an extra fee. When we finally came to an agreement, they unloaded everything fairly quickly. Some boxes were a bit squished, but nothing was damaged. All in all, the service was decent. They're definitely the cheapest option, but I didn't have any major problems. Just make sure you discuss EVERY detail over the phone when they give you an estimate. Tell them if there are stairs and if it's a house or apartment, etc etc. Give them as many details about your items as possible. If you're vague, they may add extra fees upon delivery they you didn't know about.
