    Hot water tank

Tommy Gianitsopulos from Reliance home comfort came into my house and let me know right away that if I had any questions to make sure I asked. He was very helpful and if he didnt know the answer he made a phone call and got the answer for me. He explained all the products that I would be purchasing and also offered many more that would be helpful in regards to the hot water tank. I would recommend these guys to anyone!

    Service Call

Heat kicked off during the middle of the night so I called Reliance. They sent a gentleman named Scott Davis who contacted me first thing in the morning. He fixed the problem and was in & out in less than 30mins. Scott was very helpful and professional and I would not hesitate to contact Flan-Air directly next time I have an issue or recommend them to my friends.

    Furnace & Air Conditioning

We met Todd Downey at the HomeShow to provide us with a quote for a new water heater. We were so impressed with him we purchased a furnace and air conditioner as well. The crew called in advance and were very punctual. They installed and were professional and courteous. Todd even stopped by to check on their progress and brought them Tim Hortons. That is the kind of person you want to work with. Thanks again Todd.

    Furnace and Air Conditioner Replacement

We woke up on the morning of January 24th to find our furnace had broken down. As the system was over 30 years old, we realized we were on borrowed time, and while disappointed, were not surprised. We called Reliance and within an hour your sales rep Todd Downey was on site with space heaters to keep us warm and to guide us through the process of getting the heat back on. I was extremely impressed by Todd for his punctuality, professionalism and sincere care for our well being and our needs. He asked several questions to ensure we found a system that suited OUR needs and not necessarily just one the company liked to sell. The thing I liked most is I felt like I designed the system, he just helped with the journey. After about 2 hours, Todd had sold us on a system, performed heat calculations, taken all the measurements for the new installation to take place without a hitch and was on his way to line-up the installation for the next day. The next day one of the installation crews was sick, so we were thankful that another crew stepped in on short notice to get our heat running. Even though this was their second install of the day, Josh and Alex were very professional, tidy and thorough. The heat was on by dinner time and we couldn't be happier with the entire process. Thanks so much Todd for caring as you do. It's clear you love your job and love helping people solve problems. Your job can't be easy, but you make it look that way. And thanks so much to Reliance for being so quick, providing great value and unparalleled service!

    Hot Water Heater

Technitian came out to inspect hot water heater. We rent the hot water heater and at the time we were thinking of a buy out. He assured us the water heater was in good shape and we decided to continue renting with a monthly charge and insurance on the heater.

    Replace 3 hot water tanks

Resolution: The area manager and a member of the executive team contacted me within a few hours of filing this last complaint and took steps to rectify the issue. The valves have since been changed without any cost to me and they will clean up the plumbing mess created by the original contractor. I am satisfied with this resolution and have therefore adjusted my score and rating accordingly. I would recommend Reliance to others as they are better than their competitors whom I have also dealt with in the past. Based on the speed with which they resolved this issue and the fact that their rates/terms are better than their competitors I would likely recommend them to others. Please also note that I use Reliance for heating/cooling and hot water tanks in other places as well. Synopsis: Reliance replaced 3 hot water tanks for me in January (through a sub-contractor) where I shared the costs with Reliance for the work done. The work completed was not entirely correct; the contractors were sloppy in doing the work. When I complained initially I was told that I would have to pay for the contractor to fix the work. Having no choice I did not get the work corrected. Here I am 7 weeks later and at least one of the tanks is leaking (at the point where the contractor did BAD work). Now I must complain again and go through the process of having the work redone. Full story: I previously had 3 Reliance hot water tanks (conventional gas tanks). One of them leaked in early January to the extent that the entire basement was flooded and so I called Reliance to send a technician to look after it. The first technician showed up in the evening within reasonable time and turned off the valves as best as he could. He determined that the tank would need to be replaced and would happen the next morning. He also mentioned that I should consider replacing the valve connecting the tank to the plumbing lines. I understood and said no problem. The next morning I found the tank to still be leaking and again my basement was flooded. I called Reliance again and they sent another technician over who cut the plumbing lines to the leaky tank and capped them off - good work so far. He too mentioned that the valve currently in place is old and is prone to causing problems and that I should have it changed. Knowing that the other two tanks would also go sooner rather than later due to their age, I decided to replace all 3 tanks at the same time so as to prevent more headaches down the road. I called Reliance head office and spoke to an individual whom I had dealt it in 12 months prior (also for replacing 2 hot water tanks in another building on the same property). I discussed with her the possibility of increasing the capacity of the tanks (i.e. increasing from 3 x 50 gallon tanks to 3 x 60/70 gallon tanks) and relocating them in the same room but 3 feet back and closer to the wall. She told me that an inspection would have to be done by a contractor/technician and there would be costs involved on relocation as this was a commercial account. I understood and agreed to the inspection. The inspection was done the day after and I discussed the details of the work which included rerouting venting, gas and plumbing lines as well as replacing the old tanks for new ones to ensure the system worked efficiently. I understood that they would use existing materials where possible and would only charge for new materials. I came to an agreement with Reliance on the additional charges that I would incur for the relocation of the tanks and signed a 7 year agreement to rent the 3 tanks. On the day that the contractors came to replace all three of the tanks they initially told me that it was going to cost extra (above and beyond the charges I had agreed to) to correct the plumbing issue – this was resolved after I had the contractors speak with the inspector (their boss). As they removed the three tanks, the contractors told and showed me that the plumbing lines coming out of the tanks were clogged (at the point where the shut-off valves get connected) – naturally I assumed that they would be replacing all of the valves. Rather than sit in front of them and watch their work, I decided to let them do their job and I would look at it after it was completed. When they completed the job I noticed that for two of the tanks, they used 4 new valves (industry standard) for shut-offs BUT kept three old valves (one of the old valves is redundant and should have been replaced instead with a solid plumbing line). The contractors used extra copper and connections which cost more than the valves to complete the job but did not change the valves which would mitigate (or at least lower the chance of) future leaks. Not only that they did a poor job on joining the new plumbing lines to the old lines (it wasn’t clean at all); they left extra elbows and points of failure in the plumbing work. When I complained and said that I would not pay for the installation charges I was told that either I pay or they remove all 3 of the tanks. I spoke with the contractors’ boss (the inspector) who told me that they don’t change valves unless needed. After finding that the argument was getting nowhere and very reluctantly I paid them but did not sign the satisfactory completion form. I emailed the Reliance Head Office representative and after a bit of going back and forth I was presented with two options: (1) pay additional $270 for them to correct it; (2) Reliance will replace the valves at their cost if they cause issues. I had had enough – they expected me to $270 to them to correct their mistakes! Seeing no choice I said no thanks. How stupid is it for Reliance to not force the contractor to correct their mistake initially than to incur costs on their own not to mention the headache it causes the customer? Guess what – it’s nearly 7 weeks later and at least one of the valves is leaking. I called Reliance yesterday and they sent a technician over to correct the problem. When the technician came, he put some Teflon tape on the valve to stop the leak and said either the guts inside the valve need to be replaced or the valve itself! By the way, I (the property owner) might have to foot the cost!! Now I must go through the process of complaining again and dealing with this issue – not only that, it takes time away from doing other work, wastage of water (because water needs to be drained from the tank and the lines for the valves to be changed) and wastage of gas (to heat the water again). Complete ignorance on Reliance’s part!!!!

    Bolier & Hot Water Tank

Absolutly amazing service from Reliance and will never go anywhere else. After another local company left me without heat for 12 days Reliance was in the day after and never left until the job was complete. Took 12 hours to do the job because of the jackpot they came into that someone else had left and they made it look so much better and much neater than the people who originally installed the boiler and tank. Wish I could remember all their names but you know who you are and I am so grateful for everything you did for us.

Annual Furnace Maintenance. I have a maintenance plan for each unit so there was no immediate cost.

I met with Rudi from the KW area. Rudi was a highly trained service technician who not only did an outstanding job with each of the 3 properties that he serviced today, but was also able to adequately provide me with satisfactory answers to questions that I had about my equipment and ongoing maintenance. Rudi completed his work in a timely fashion and was very positive and extremely efficient throughout the entire process.
