    Incapable technician from Reliance

My furnace had a malfunction, so I called Reliance, as I've been on their heat protection plan for years and had positive experiences in the past. Amit from Reliance arrived but didn't seem to know how to troubleshoot the furnace beyond turning it off and on. He quickly claimed that the furnace was beyond repair and needed replacing, issued a correction request, and left. I had to call and pay a third party to cancel the request. That technician from other company identified the issue and had the furnace running within an hour. I am very disappointed with Reliance's service and quality; they seem more interested in selling overpriced appliances, and the protection plan does not provide any real value.

    Sump Pump

In July, we had our sump pump replaced by Reliance at which time I asked them if there was a rebate program they told me no. I later found out there was a rebate program through the city of Toronto. The city requires a business license number. To date, Reliance has steadfastly refused to give me the business license number stating that its a union issue in order to protect their subcontractors. I have tried various different attempts to get this number and they simply refuse, and therefore I cannot apply for the rebate program. This is 100% unacceptable and I would highly recommend staying away from Reliance because as a consumer there is no sound reasonable, rational reason why a company will not give me their business license number. Dont be fooled by the size of this company like I was and do your homework. I would not recommend using Reliance and as soon as my service plan expires. I am walking away. .

    Call on Un-Reliance

Their company name should be Un-Reliance, as this is what to expect from them. Extremely disappointed with Un-Reliance - poor technicians, poor installation, poor customer service. Un-Reliance installed my furnace 3 yrs ago and it no longer works. My recently installed furnace had inadequate airflow causing freezing to occur periodically while AC was in operation. Furnace was undersized for airflow. This was confirmed by their own Technician, he was able to increase the airflow slightly this past summer. Now the blower motor has now failed due to the 3 years of the slow death caused by condensation which is a result of the inadequate furnace size, was sold to me by Un-Reliance. They are unwilling to reach any reasonable solution. Their only solution was to quote me for a full repair of $2712, as they confirmed there is no warranty, essentially the cost of a new furnace. After a couple weeks of back and forth, when I asked to speak with the branch manager directly, the message from customer service is that they did not want to talk to their customers directly and there was "nothing to discuss". Doesn't end there. Hired a 2nd HVAC tech, for another opinion who advised me that the motor is covered by a 5yr warranty by Rheem. I would just need to cover the labour for install. I was shocked to hear this as I was told by Un-Reliance explicitly that there was no warranty, it was only 1 year. When I asked Un-Reliance why they did not mention to me the manufacturer's warranty, their answer was this was not their responsibility to let me know this. This tells you everything you need to know about how they think about their customers. Doesn't end there either. Un-Reliance said it is my responsibility to procure the parts needed from Rheem and then they charge me for the installation. This is ludicrous as HVAC parts and equipment can only be ordered by licensed HVAC technicians, for safety reasons! Un-Reliance is not worth the headache, go somewhere else!

Worst ever service In my entire life

I have a rental service with Reliance Home Comfort for a Boiler, water storage tank and Furnace which I inherited with the house I bought. My account was set up with a PAP and money was deducted every month for the rental services. 6 months later the accounts team decided to create another account and add equipment's that i never rented with them and bill me for it. I called the customer service team several time to get this sorted. I would be always give a hollow promise that it would be taken care of. Much to my sorrow, few months later instead of getting rid of the duplicate account they decide to create another account and again started to bill on the third account. I started receiving bills and calls to pay this money every day, even after me reaching out to sort this issues again and again. On calls they would transfer me from one customer service to the billing team. I spent up to 3 hours on the call with out any resolution. Finally they handed this to the Credit bureau saying I owe them money. I now started getting calls from their accounts receivable team to pay the money that I don't own. On calls they don't try to understand my concern but just vomit what they want to say and transfer me from one department to the other even without my consent. After a lot of two and fro, then informed me that all the duplicate accounts are closed and I will not receive any mails or calls. Only to my surprise I again started receiving calls from their account receivables team saying that I still owe money again. Spent hours on calls with the customer care department again getting transferred from accounts team to the accounts receivable team and again back to the accounts team saying they can do nothing. The issue is an ongoing issue for the last 3 yrs STAY AS FAR AS YOU CAN FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!!! MOST INSENSITIVE PEOPLE.

Reliance Home Comfort customers, be careful!

Im sharing this experience hoping it will prevent others from facing the same frustration with Reliance Home Comfort. I had a seven-year furnace rental agreement with them, which ended last year. Due to recurring issues with the furnace and Reliance's poor repair service, I switched to another company. After uninstalling the furnace, I stored it in my garage, and Reliance call center set up the appointment for pick up their equipment. Two guys came with Reliance truck picked it up from my garage in October 2023. Shockingly, even after the furnace was picked up, Reliance continued to bill me around $100.00 monthly. I only realized this in April this year due to the automatic withdrawal setup. I immediately canceled the payments and reached out, requesting a refund for the overcharged months. Their customer service assured me I'd receive my refund within a month. Instead of a refund, however, I received notices from Collections, claiming I owed them money! After multiple follow-ups, their customer resolution team informed me that they had no record of scheduling the pickup or of the furnace being returnedthey had zero record. Now, theyre asking me for evidence to prove they collected the equipment, suggesting I check my security footage from over a year ago. Its outrageous! Im not alone; a friend had an identical experience. To anyone considering or already with Reliance Home Comfort, be very cautious! Make sure to keep all proof of interactions: save recordings, invoices, and, if possible, video evidence. They may deny having any records and continue charging you.

    Protection plan trash

Paid for furnace protection plan for almost 3 years and now I needed service. Their tech should not be titled techs they couldn't take the blower out because they screw was rusted and ceased. Customer service reps can probably YouTube how to remove a ceased screw. They refused to repair my furnace which is covered under their plan claiming the ceased screw was 1 reason second reason furnace was too dirty and neglected according to them. Yet they also said in 2022 another tec noted furnace as dirty and neglected but they didn't tell me or cancel my service back then continued collecting my monthly payment now that they needed to do a report they cancelled my plan saying furnace is neglected and can't be covered. When I questioned why it wasn't cancelled in 2022 they couldn't answer my question. In 2022 it was just regular maintenance that didn't require part of anything. Now they needed parts they cancelled my coverage after paying almost $25 month for nearly 3 years. Also they tagged my furnace as unsafe and said it's needs to replace..I made sure to go with another company to replace my furnace. Reliance will not make a penny off me in future Don't buy their protection plans saved your money
