Learned my lesson

I ALWAYS read reviews before hiring someone new. Except this time, in a hurry, at work, etc., I didn't. Big mistake. The negative reviews I've read on this company after the fact all mirror very closely my experience. I needed our gas dryer repaired, and agreed, foolishly I admit, to the $80 to show plus $30 per 10 minutes (yes, that's $180/hour) labour fee. Outrageous in itself but in the past I've had appliance repairmen come in for similar issues and spend about a half hour, so I figured they'd be reasonable with their time and I could live with it, especially since they could come the same afternoon I called. The technician arrived and was very professional-seeming in his manner. No problem there. But time began to tick by and he still hadn't figured out the problem until we were at an hour and a half (which, with the $80 to show added in amounted to a ridiculous $350) and still no confirmed diagnosis. I hit my breaking point (far too late) when the technician quoted me well over $400 for a part that I looked up myself from 3 online sources, including the genuine manufacturer, and found that AT MOST it cost $190. I was told that their own supplier charged $250 for the part, and that there was a flat installation charge of $180, for a process which the tech had previously told me would take 10 minutes. You do the math on the hourly rate for that...

All in all, it was going to cost me about $900 to repair the dryer, IF the new part in fact was what needed to be replaced -again there was never a confirmed diagnosis of the problem. I cut my losses at the $350 and will never call this company again, or indeed fail to check reviews in advance. I STRONGLY DISCOURAGE everyone out there to avoid this company at all costs. Note also that I almost never write reviews, but felt it had to be done in this case...

Gas Range repair

Called them to fix an ignitor that wasn't working on a gas range. Should have been a simple and easy fix. The technician showed up in what seemed to be a personal vehicle and spent 40 minutes to determine the issue that was obvious. Could not determine the model of the range and asked for a manual and said the part needs to be ordered. Spent $225 to be told what I already knew, the tech couldn't even figure out the model of the range. Dont waste your time or money on what is obviously a money grab like I did.

Shady repairman

Two technicians who seemed to know what they were doing are working on my gas dryer. They are trying to resolve an excessive squealing coming from the dryer when in use. After borrowing my shop vac to clean out the dryer, then reassembling the dryer it was like they crossed their fingers when they turned it back on only to see the brief look of shock and then a bunch of excuses “well it is 10 years old” because the squeal was exactly the same as before they “fixed it”.
I then could not get a straight $$ and finally paid $226 for them to tell me it’s probably a pulley kit and would be an additional $313 for a total of $539.
I could buy a new dryer for that

Washer -Overpriced for what turned out to be just an estimate.

Washer was making noise during spin cycle. Called appliance repairman they said they could send somebody the next day. visit would cost $80. If went with the repair the $80 would be put towards the Repair. When technician Yoni was here he said just to open up and see if anything needed to be fixed would cost $280 in labour just to open it up and take a look (50 minute) Technician took a look said rear drum and bearing part that would cost $827. At which point I decided not to proceed. Technician did not seem to be experienced. Considering the problem did not really get fixed the labour charge was overpriced for pretty much a 50 minute work to just open up the back of the washer and take a look and provide an estimate. Technician did not really seem to know what need to be done, part of the time he was calling the office for further instructions. Than he was having difficulties to close the washer back up and removed two bars from the back saying it would not affect the operation of the washer. I later unscrewed the whole thing myself and put back the two metals bars he left out. He did not know the age of the washer, which I figure it myself after by doing some research on the model. I would not use them again. Grossly overpriced for an estimate.

Please, please save your money. Do not use appliancerepairman.ca

Please, please, please save your money and do not use this company. Just before Christmas, our Bosch dishwasher went on the blink (constantly draining and wouldn't shut off) and I called for a service call. A technician was sent to our home - the day he came, the dishwasher worked through a cycle and so he said there was nothing wrong with it, charged us $80 (the agreed upon fee) and left. Within a few days, the dishwasher started doing the same thing as before - drain cycle would run and run and never stop.

I called back and asked them to send someone again. I requested I not be charged the visit fee as we had already paid $80 for basically nothing a few days before. They said they would reduce it to $50. The repairman came, looked at my dishwasher and said, "I know exactly what it is. I just need to make an adjustment to this valve here." He then proceeded to tell me it would cost $320 to do the repair. I thought, "obviously there's more to it than just adjusting a small valve." I questioned him on the amount and whether it was worth it or not. He said my dishwasher was over a $1,000 machine and it would be worth it because this simple fix would help it last a long time yet. I reluctantly agreed - signed the invoice for a $320 repair that would supposedly fix my dishwasher. I went to the other room to let him do his work.

Less than 30 minutes later (I was shocked!) he said he was done and the dishwasher would work fine now - but I shouldn't use it for a couple of days to let the water in the pan underneath dry out, otherwise it would still continue to think it needed to run the drain cycle.

Also, in the meantime, he had written "Problem not solved - Need new valve assembly $375" on the contract I had signed previously. When I questioned him about this he said, "the problem is fixed, but if it ever happens again in the future, this is what you'll need to do." I asked him why I should pay the $320 for the 30 minutes "labour" he did (no new parts) when I might have to pay another $375 later. He assured me that it was fixed and this was only if something happened down the road in future. I didn't want to pay, but he wouldn't leave my home until I did.

We didn't use the dishwasher for a few days - just to make sure the water had dried up as he instructed. Then on Christmas Eve, we ran a cycle. The dishwasher started up and ran through part of its cycle and then stopped partway through. This had never happened before. Usually, it would run the whole cycle and just get stuck on the final drain cycle. So - not only did he not fix the problem he created another one. Later that evening, I went to my basement and noticed water on the floor. Further investigation showed that now my dishwasher was actually leaking - which it had never done before. Not only did he not fix my dishwasher, but after he 'worked' on it, it was now mysteriously leaking.

It was Christmas Eve and I was WILD. So angry - and the next day was Christmas day. We had people around and a big meal so no time to do anything about the problem. Boxing day I went online and found a great deal on a dishwasher, half price. I purchased it and installed it myself (what I should have done in the first place). Then I called the company a couple days later to complain and was told there was no one in the office who could speak to me about that, could they call me back. Two weeks later I still hadn't received a call, so I called back, asked why no one had called me and told them this whole long story again (they said they had no record of my first call). After being put on hold for a long period of time, the person came back on the phone and said that according to their records, there was no issue and I didn't qualify for any kind of refund. I wasn't even asking for all the money back, just some meaningful kind of consideration for the fact that they hadn't actually repaired anything. They offered me what they called a "$50 goodwill refund", but of course they would need me to sign a waiver before they sent it. I got the waiver in my email about a week later. Signing it would require me to not bring any kind of action against their company and also bind me to non-disclosure to any third party about my experience. So I told them to keep their $50 because I want to tell anyone who will listen never to use this company. They are deceptive and conniving and you will be better off buying a new appliance than working with these people!

Stay away from this company!!!!!

Stay away from this company, or any of it's various names. Do your homework and search the company name with "complaints" in the title. A small problem on a high end appliance ended with numerous visits by Igor the inept technician, the self-proclaimed expert who's "seen this hundreds of times", then when it doesn't work, asks to see the "senior" technician...equally inept. Complaints to customer service minions Joy, Mariam and Stephanie are left unanswered and unfulfilled. This company strings you along getting you to order parts and doesn't have a clue on how to fix anything (apart from reading the manual or doing an on-site google search...I kid you not).

They are unresponsive, incapable and need to be put out of business. The employees should all be ashamed of being associated with such an unreputable and dishonest organization.

Dryer repair

Big mistake. No better than my husbands effort to repair it. Wasted my money. Lesson learned. Never again. The technician arrived in a regular car, no parts if necessary or a shop vac. Was using my vacuum. Who shows up without parts or a shop vac for the kind of job that it is.

Dryer Repair

I called this company to repair a squeaky sound I was hearing on my whirlpool gas dryer. Tech made me sign the invoice that its $30 per 10 minutes plus $80 to come in. Then he removed the machine apart and changed the pulley for $120.00. The technician seemed to be very lost with fixing the machine back. He kept complaining about how difficult the space was to work with. I ended up paying an outrageous amount of $500. And to my dismay the next day I discovered that he had forgotten to put the vent hose back into the dryer. Anyway I then looked at the google reviews and realized how bad this company is so I called another company to put the hose back. I am so disgusted with their lack of honest and ethics. Please do not support them. I will never deal with them again

Washer

Called and they told me it would be $80 for repair person to come out and tell me what's wrong with washer. I specifically asked 2x if they are able to diagnose electronic machines. They said yes. Super rude repiarman got there, called to tell me it would be $320 to fix. I asked him 2x as I thought it was a lot of money - he said washer is worth $1000 so yes worth it to repair. He called me back 20 minutes later and said it would be ANOTHER $660 to replace the broken part. I said you realize how absurd this is - spending over $1000 to fix a machine that is not even worht that. He was rude, put through the $361. I have put this charge in dispute, washer is not fixed. They are completely dishonest - not sure how theyre still in business. Will be going to Consumer Affairs.
