My 15 year old Air Conditioner died in the summer, based on a number of positive reviews in a neighbourhood Facebook group and after reading multiple reviews on Homestars I gave Fair Deal a call. Based on the age of the AC unit and that the refrigerant was difficult to come by I made the decision to replace my it. After the technician looked at the furnace and based on the age of the furnace (21 years old) it was recommended that I also replace the furnace. Spoke with Ash at Fair Deal got a good quote that I agreed with and decided to replace the furnace as well. Speaking with Ash at Fair Deal was very straight forward, the technicians were very professional, and I felt that the price I paid was fair. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone that asks.

My house is about 90 years old, and has some very outdated plumbing. The drains are clay, the drain stack is cast iron, and there was no floor drain in my laundry / furnace room. This project started out with drainage problem with my basement laundry tub. I made an appointment with Water Works, and Michael arrived at the scheduled date/time. After some consultation we decided to install a new clean out in the drain stack, and new floor drain in the laundry/ furnace room. While that drain work was being done large tree roots were found to be blocking off part of the clay drain, so that section was replaced. Unfortunately the next day I discovered that the plumbing was still not draining correctly, More than likely the drain had been mostly blocked off for a long time, but without a floor drain, the water did not have a place to back up out of... Michael came back and found a blockage further down the drain line. So more of the basement floor had to be excavated, and they even had to dig under the basement bathroom to cut out the next section of drain blocked by tree roots. Thankfully the repair could be done by going under the bathroom floor, and not having to break through the tile. While Michael was at the house I also had the ancient laundry tub faucet, and the 20+ year old taps connected to the washing machine hoses replaced. Also most of the hardware inside one of the toilet tanks had to be changed out. At one point I had a pile of sand in my Laundry room over 3ft high, but they put everything back in it's place, re-cemented the floor, and cleaned up when they were done, you could barely tell they had been there. From the first call to the last steps out the door Water Works is a very professional company with great customer service. The pricing was given up front for all work, as their prices come from a price guide, so you know that the numbers aren't just being made up out of thin air. I appreciated the courtesy calls on the days in between jobs to see how I was doing, and the calls to let me know when they were on their way, and when to expect them. Have an existing mud room at the back of the house that we've winterized to use as an office. The construction of the mud room was such that Spray Foam was the only option to insulate the space. Also while I was getting an estimate for that job, I had the attic checked out, and discovered that I did not have the recommended amount of insulation in the attic. Insta-Insulation applied Spray foam to the underside of the floor, and the ceiling above. The crew did a great job. They applied the spray foam in 2 passes to leave time for the first coat to expand and harden before applying the second pass. If not applied properly Spray foam is known to have a bad smell, and you must be out of your house for 24 hours after installation, but I did not have any such issues. I also had a second crew from Insta-insulation come out a few days later to top up the insulation in my attic. Both jobs only took about an hour each (small house). Both crews did a wonderful job, and left the job site clean. Highly recommended.

A few months back we had a few estimates done at my Mother's house, and at that time we chose Ambia Windows and Doors. I was so impressed with the work that when it came time to change the windows at my own house I only contacted Ambia. My project included the changing of a number of windows, a new screen door and some new Vinyl Siding. I met with Michael for the initial estimate, and he came back with a very reasonable price for the work involved. I met with Igor a few days later to take final measurements, and booked an installation date. When the installation date came, the crew arrived on time, completed the work in a timely manor, and cleaned up the site each day before they left. The windows and siding look great, the installation is very clean, and they took all of the old windows when they left. I would recommend Ambia Windows and Doors to anyone looking to get windows replaced.

I had a small renovation in the back of the house, and needed 2 new breakers, 2 new electrical runs, the addition of an outlet, a switch, a fixture, and an additional exterior outlet. I contacted a few other electrical contractors for estimates first, but the job was too small for them to come out for. When I contacted Captain Electric we booked an appointment right away, the electrician arrived on time, reviewed the project with me and provided a price on the spot (Captain Electric uses a fixed pricing system for each task, they do not charge by the hour, and the price does not change if they bring in someone to help). I agreed to the price quoted, and since I was already home for the day, the work was started immediately. A second electrician came in for part of the day to help out, and the entire job was done the same day. The work was very clean, they only made holes in my ceiling when there was absolutely no other way to fish the wire to the destination. They also pointed out some items that were not up to electrical code, which I had them correct while they were there, and also provided me with some recommendations/estimates for possible future upgrades. A very good experience overall, I was very happy with their work, and would recommend them.

I came home one day to find about 30 wasps hovering outside my house, upon further inspection I discovered that they were actually going in and out of the house between the bricks through a section of missing mortar about 15ft off the ground. I was going to climb up a ladder and try and resolve it myself, but then I came to my senses and called Pesticon. I called Pesticon on a Saturday morning, and made an appointment for the following day. The owner came out on a Sunday afternoon to handle it himself. He sprayed the spot where the wasps were entering the house, and they immediately dispersed. The whole procedure only took about 15 minutes, and within about an hour all of the wasps had left the area, and have not returned. Service was great, pricing was very reasonable, highly recommended.

After getting 4 other quotes I chose Ambia Windows and Doors because after meeting with Michael I felt that he was very knowledgeable about the product he sells. Even though the job was done in the middle of winter the installers Frank and Joe did a great job, they were very neat, and left the house clean at the end of each day. I am very happy with the final product, the work of Ambia Windows and Doors and have recommended them to my friends. Thanks Michael, Tony, Frank and Joe.

We called Juffs after getting 3 other quotes. The Juffs quote was a little above the average, but Shay took the time to explain everything and answer any questions we had. They replaced the roof, and flashing, added new attic venting, and properly vented the bathroom. Chris and the Juffs crew took the time to protect my garden before starting any work, and cleaned up the entire property before they left. The crew worked hard, and were polite, friendly, and professional. I am very happy with the finished roof, and would not hesitate to recommend them.
