I was originally going to do the attic insulation myself, went up there and took a look... I thought I would be easy. I was just going to put the baffles in and blow in the fiberglass. But after speaking with a co-worker (who had his father help him). I decided to go with Ecocomfort, especially when they had a special for R60 for the price of R50 at $1/ sq. ft. It was a no brainer and they had a lot of good reviews. I emailed The company for a quote and Wojtek replied to me the next day with a lot of details. I emailed him with a lot of questions and each time he replied promptly and with detailed answers. In the end I settled on blown in cellulose (both fiberglass and cellulose were the same price). I booked an appointment with Wojtek for May 9 2017 between 2pm and 3pm. On May 9, Tom and Mike arrived at 2:30pm, immediately both were friendly, polite and professional. They put down drop sheets and and invited me up their ladder to view the attic and told me what they were going to do. I am so glad I had Ecocomfort doing the job rather than my wife and I. We would have had to rent a truck from Home Depot, and the insulation blowing machine... in short it would have been a lot of sweat and hard work... and a lot slower. Tom and Mike corrected a couple of mistakes in my attic that were made by the builder, which I would never have known or corrected. It was one of the issues causing condensation on my windows in the winter. During the job, Tom and Mike answered any questions I had. I was able to take photos after the installation of the baffles and after the blowing in of the insulation. The job took about 2.5hrs, and at the end I was completely satisfied. I would recommend Ecocomfort to anyone. Keep up the great work!

Sam arrived on time and quickly diagnosed why ther dryer wasn't producing heat when used on drying cycles. The heating element needed to be replaced, but instead of replacing just the heating element, the entire heating element box was replaced. Service was good, but in all honesty $352.00 (not including taxes) seemed a little steep for about 1hrs worth of actual work on the dryer and that includes vacuuming the interior of the dryer once it was partially dismantled. I realized after watching YouTube videos that this repair could've been a DIY. Again, work was good, Sam was polite and knowledgeable, however I am also a little disappointed in 90 day warranty for the part and 30 day warranty for labour. 2016.09.08 Sam called me back to ask why I wasn't completely happy with the service. I explained to him that I was happy with the service, but that the price (to me) was a little high. He has graciously offered to discount the job. He also explained to me that he only uses genuine Samsung parts and that entails replacing the entire heating assembly, not just the heating coils (which would be an aftermarket part by itself). He also educated me on the industry warranty on replacement parts as standard at 90 days (which I didn't know). So all in all, I am happy and satisfied with the level of customer service Sam provided. He actually cares about his customers and feedback. The $180 charge for the labour is the standard charge he charges for my repair apparently. I told him that he should list the labour price amount for each type of repair on the company website so that customers know how much the repair is after it is diagnosed in person, and not be surprised (like I was when I was told) and he said that he would consider the suggestion and speak with his IT guy.

I needed a new AC system as the old one that came with our house wasn't doing its job during this hot summer. Our townhouse uses a high velocity system (unfortunately)... That's another story. Anyway, I met with the sales guy Jeff Maund, and compared to another sales guy from another large HVAC company, Jeff provided me with more info. And seemed more knowledgeable. He advised that new ductwork would be put in and the evaporator coil would be installed in another location. He also did not recommend me renting the system (as opposed to the other sales guy, who was). I did some research and found that financially it makes more sense to buy/finance. I decided to go with Atlascare, even though I was with the other company since the start. On August 10 2016, Mike, Adam and Gabriel came bright and early to install the system. They were very friendly and professional. Before any work was done, they laid down their drop sheets and had booties whenever they needed to do so. All in all the work took about 5-6hrs for the new install, and when they finished they cleaned up nicely and took away all the old equipment. They also answered any questions I had. It was a great experience. Jeff also followed up with me after the install. The system worked fantastic, it actually cooled the house down during those hot humid days. It was night and day between the old system and the new one. The old one which was a 1.5t no name unit could never cool the house down past 25 degrees Celsius, and the house would still feel uncomfortably warm on the main floor and even warmer upstairs. I would have to use a fan in my room to supplement the cooling! With the new Lennox 2t unit even though on the hot humid days it would get the house down to 24 degrees Celsius and the house would feel surprisingly cool, almost cold! We really felt the difference on the second floor, and were amazed. We never knew anything different other than the old system which wasn't doing the job. On August 19th 2016, we noticed a whistling sound coming from the duct work/air handler and the house didn't seem to be cooling like it did and should. I called Atlas on Sunday evening and advised the operator of the problem, and was advised a technician would call me back within the hour, and within the hour Brendan called me back and I confirmed with him the problem I was having and he diagnosed over the phone that it was most likely the evaporator coil freezing up. He suggested that we turn off the system to let it thaw out several hours before the appointment with him. So we kept using the AC until 5am (appointment was between 12 noon and 1pm the next day). Brendan The technician came on time at around 12:30pm the next day and quickly got to work, again wearing booties inside the house whenever he needed to. He quickly noticed that a 'anti ice control' wasn't installed with the system (recommended with our tempmizer air handler). Brendan tested the Lennox unit and also advised that he would charge it up a little more with coolant. He was professional and answered all the questions I had. The anti ice control was set up and the system was tested and everything is working fine again. The new system is definitely removing any humidity/moisture 1000% better than the old system. My family and I are very happy the new system, and I am very happy that I went with AtlasCare. I would recommend them to anyone looking to have any HVAC work done on their home.

John S. from Reliance came this morning and was polite and knowledgeable. He fixed my thermostat problem right away. I was using the NEST but after 3+ years it started going wonky where when the heat kicked in, it would go way past the set temperature and the only way to turn it off was to shut the power off to the thermostat (NEST). Apparently the NEST works best when there is a 'common' wire dedicated to charging it. However speaking with John, most homes only have 4 wires and not 5. Though NEST is made not to require 5 wires, the trickle charging didn't last past 3+ years for our NEST unit. Anyway trying to weigh my options with NEST. By the way, book your appointments very early because I called them at 8am in the morning on Wednesday October 8th and they didn't have anyone to send until Friday October 10th... Though I had no heat!

I had issues with the PEX pipes that were leaking and I had to shut the main water valve to the house. I had no heat and no hot water for 3 days. I called the company I rent my water tank with and they wouldn't fix it because they deemed it a 'plumbing' issue.. Even though both my air handler and the hot water tank are connected by these plastic pipes, and I rent both air handler and hot water tank from them! So I called Ely and he was already on a job, but he sent his father 'Mony' who came to my house within a couple of hours and replaced the first PEX line, tested it and it was no leaking. Then he checked the other PEX line and discovered a small small leak. So he went out to Home Depot to pick up the part came back and replaced the line. He checked both lines to make sure they weren't leaking and told me to keep my eye out on them and if they were leaking again to call back. Luckily there hasn't been any leaks. To my surprise Ely called me later that night to follow up and ask how the service was and advised me about the old "discontinued" PEX piping that I had in my house (it's plastic with aluminium in between) and said that the PEX I had is no longer used in the industry because of problems, and told me to watch out for future water leaks and suggested possibly to replace old PEX pipes down the road. Both Mony and Ely were professional and honest in their options/advice.

Thank you for the kind review Daniel I am a 3rd generation master plumber and have seen many plumbing products come and go. Unfortunately the pex pipe installed in your subdivision is no longer used due to the problems it causes. This type of pex pipe is called kitec it is lined with aluminum between 2 layers of plastic. We try to carry as much product on our vehicles as possible. We try our best to only use high grade type A pex ex wirsbro it is uv rated And holds over 150psi and can expand and contract better than other plastic pipes to prevent these types of issues.

I didn't have hot water or heat for 3 days. And I had a reliance tech over on 2013.11.01 and he tested everything and did as much as he could and finally came to conclusion that the igniter assembly of our hot water tank needed to be changed, but the after hours parts guy wasn't picking up his phone! So we had to suffer another night without hot water or heat! Then on 2013.11.02 Mehul #2469 from reliance came and was able to troubleshoot immediately what the problem was and provided a refurbished part that he had in his truck and said that he would come back on Monday to install a"new" part. He was professional and ensured that the refurbished part was working properly before he left. Thank you Mehul, you are a credit to Reliance.

I had Billy and his crew install a glass shower door in my stand up shower along with a glass bathtub enclosure for my other bathroom back in October of 2012. Last week I noticed that the screws from the top hinge on my glass shower door was coming loose. I contacted Nelly at their office and received a prompt reply within a day and was told that it wasn't a problem and that a service appointment would be made that week. Billy came out 2 days later and tightened all the screws on both hinges with no issues. Billy is great guy and did a great job. This is what customer service is all about. THANK YOU again.

I called Drain Works from doing research here on home stars, and found that they had an excellent rating! I live in Mississauga, and I called Drain Works and told them that according to the Reliance Technician that did work on my hot water tank this morning, I needed to have a plumber install a 3/4" check valve sitting in a horizontal position that is not spring loaded. Drain works advised that I would be charged a $69.00 for assessment fee, which would be deducted from the cost of the job. The Drain Works technician came in and looked at my hot water tank and said that I needed a new mixing valve (among other things). I told the Drain Works guy that the Reliance Technician said I only needed check valve installed. I suggested to the Drain Works tech. to speak to the Reliance Tech. and the Drain Works guy said he did not have time to talk to the Reliance Tech. The Drain works guy proceeded to write me up a quote of $685.00 + HST for the new mixing valve install and another $380 +HST to repair 3/4" Ipex ring to eliminate leak. I got the Reliance tech. on the phone and told him what was going on, and he told me that he wanted to speak to the Drain Works guy. I tried handing the phone to him, but the Drain Works guy would not speak to him, saying that he's the 'expert' in plumbing, not the Reliance guy, and did not want to waste his time. In my opinion regardless of whether the Reliance guy is a licensed plumber or not, the Drain works tech should have spoken to him to at least hear his reasoning for installing the 3/4" check valve! The Reliance tech. told me to "kick the guy out of my house" as he was trying to rip me off. The Reliance guy told me that YES my mixing valve would eventually have to be replaced, but NOT at this time. Obviously I feel that the Reliance tech. was looking out for me, so it was either I take the Drain Works quote or I pay the $69.00 assessment fee. I paid the assessment fee as I felt the mixing valve replacement was unnecessary at this time (as the Reliance Tech. suggested). When I called Drain Works Mississauga back, "William" told me that the Drain Works tech. didn't need to speak with the Reliance tech, as I called for a plumbing issue (Drain Works) as suggested by the Reliance Tech. TRUE... but what harm is it to speak with the Reliance tech for a minute to hear his side of the story?!?!? I'm sure the Reliance tech who came out to replace the dip tube in my hot water tank has some plumbing experience, or he wouldn't have suggested me to get a plumber to install the 3/4" check valve. Furthermore, "William" from Drain Works Mississauga said that it isn't a "pressure tactic" but if I wanted the work done now, he would be able to get the Drain Works tech. back and perform the work, otherwise if I call again in the future, they would not come back to do the work, as I've wasted their time by having them come to do assessment (which I paid $69.00 for) and sending them away, saying that the $69.00 charge doesn't really cover their costs. $69.00 for 5 minutes of looking???!?! Well, the reason I sent Drain Works Mississauga away was because I felt I was getting a quote for work done that I didn't need to do at this time. The Reliance tech. told me plain and simple that it was my money and my choice whether or not to go with the Drain Works quote, but in his opinion he suggested I get someone else, and chalk this up as a learning experience. I have tried to be as unbiased as possible writing this review. Maybe it's because I dealt with Drain Works Mississauga, I don't know... maybe Drain Works in other areas are more trustworthy. ***RESPONSE TO EDDIE GUIDO 2011.03.01**** EDDIE, Yes, I agreed over the phone to pay $69.00 for the assessment fee. That was before your technician came over and in my honest opinion made a very quick assessment. An assessment that needed me to pay for work done that I didn't need to do at the time. (Your GPS may have shown him to be at my address for an hour, (I don't believe he was there for an hour) but the actual time he spent assessing my problem in my furnace room was 5 minutes! He then went to his truck spent maybe 15-20 minutes writing up his quote for me), came back into the house and explained his quote and when I declined to do what he quoted me for, he took another 10-15 minutes for him to go to back to his truck and get his credit card machine and for me to make payment. I would like to see this GPS proof of how much time he actually spent at my address, the 1 hr you say your technician spent at my address doesn't actually mean he was assessing my problem for the entire 1hr. When I called Bosco plumbing after your technician left, I told the gentleman what I experienced with DrainWorks, and even he said that the technician should've at least spoken to the Reliance Technician, what harm was there to just speak to him?!?! As far as $69.00 not covering your costs, well maybe your company needs to rethink the assessment fee you charge or realize that it is the price of doing business. And why.. why... would "William" tell me that if I called DrainWorks again that they would not come out to service me? I assume that I would be paying the $69.00 assessment fee again if DrainWorks was to come over. Does that not seem like a "pressure tactic"... which "William" said it wasn't?! I just feel like I was put in a situation where I was going to lose either way, either by paying the $69.00 for the (BS)assessment, or by agreeing to have work done that I didn't need at the time, which would probably have amounted to $800-$1000. And by the way, the Reliance technician may not have the "title" of plumber, but I am confident that when he came and did work on my hot water tank and told me that I needed to have a 'check valve' installed, NOT a mixing valve at this time, he knew what he was talking about, and wasn't trying to take me for a ride. Like I said, the Reliance technician told me to "kick the guy out" of my house as he was trying to rip me off. He knew what was going on, when the DrainWorks technician refused to speak to him. Again WHAT HARM IS THERE TO SPEAK TO HIM? That would show me and any potential customer that he has nothing to hide and can explain to the Reliance tech. why in his opinion I needed a mixing valve and to listen to the Reliance tech. on why I needed a check valve. Call me foolish, but to me that just seems like good business practice, and being upfront. Is a couple of minutes spent talking to the Reliance tech. too much waste of your company's time? As for my credibility, I am being 100% honest in my dealings with DrainWorks, I did not hide or make anything up. I provided proof to Homestars that I paid for the $69.00 assessment fee. I have nothing to gain from this and just want people to see your business practices and to share with them my bad experience with DrainWorks. Hooray for Homestars!!! I only wish other people could comment on my review and your response. P.S. I changed the rating to a "2" because your technician did show up in a reasonable time.

**Daniel** You called DrainWorks and agreed to pay $69 + HST for a licensed plumbers evaluation and quotation. It was your prerogative to listen to someone else’s diagnosis, someone who was not even a plumber. You are of course free to make the choice to proceed, or not to proceed with the work quoted. Keep in mind though, that according to our GPS records, 1 hour was spent at your home on this evaluation, not 5 minutes as you have indicated, which does hold your credibility in question. Not to mention the travel time to and from your home, which adds another hour to the total amount of time invested. That’s 2 hours for $69; obviously this does not cover our costs. Scheduling an appointment for a licensed plumbers professional diagnosis, and then expecting that plumber to go against his expertise because of someone else’s unqualified diagnosis over the phone, makes no sense, and is not something we would, or are prepared to do. Thank you and good luck.
