Repair built in microwave

Microwave required 2 technicians to come to repair. First appointment they cancelled due to technician being ill. Second appointment they only scheduled 1 technician in error so they had to cancel 2nd appointment. I now have taken off 2 days off work and they still want to charge me full price. The problem with appliance was a year ago and they still want to charge full price. They don't care that customers take time off work and offe no compensation. Had kitchen aid appliances before and all of them in less then 5 years don't work. NEVER purchase kitchen aid appliances.

Whirlpool Dryer Repair

We have a Whirlpool dryer and it suddenly stopped working. The drum would spin but there is no heat. I googled and watched YouTube related to the issue. Tried the suggestions offered but still did not work. So I ended up calling the 1-800 “customer interaction centre” number. A service appointment was booked and the representative explained to me the cost of the initial visit ($89) and that I will be informed of the total cost of the repair and labour for me to make a decision.

The Day of the Appointment:
Firstly, in today’s world, I do not understand how a company can still give you a service visit window of 8am to 4pm! Most companies recognize the importance of customer experience and have narrowed that time frame. One of our family members had to take a day off work to wait for this appointment. A Whirlpool technician (not third party) arrived and spent less than 10 minutes in diagnosing the problem. We were told the computer board had to be replaced. It was only after we probed for the cost, he gave an estimate of ~$250. He said he has to order the part and will have to come back. We were not provided with a quote of how much the actual repair will be (parts & labour, etc.) and there is nothing in writing.

So the next day, I called the 1-800 number back and reported that I was not provided with sufficient information and that I did not consent to proceeding with the repair. The representative repeatedly told me that she was unable to tell me how long the repair would be and could only say that it is $29 every 15 minutes. However, she said she could tell me how much the parts were (I can only assume that the information had been entered into their computer system by the technician). She said that we needed 3 parts and the total is $478. I was upset by the fact that the technician was not forthcoming with the information and misled me. I asked to speak with a supervisor.

From the supervisor, I found out that it is not Whirlpool’s standard to provide customers with a written quote. And when I asked whether it is also a standard that their technician should inform the customer the details of the repair, he could not answer the question. The only thing he could offer was to ‘email’ the technician to get the information on parts and expected labour. I have yet to receive anything from the technician, the supervisor, or Whirlpool and there is no follow up.

I am extremely disappointed (and angry) with this experience and I would never purchase a Whirlpool or its associated brands again. Overall, my impression of Whirlpool Service is arrogance, dishonesty, unprofessional, and a complete lack of sense of customer service.

New Kitchen Oven

I bought a top of the line kitchen oven from IKEA for my kitchen that was being renovated. Our contractor damaged a door latch so I called Whirlpool Canada to have it replaced. They sent a technician who charged me over $100 to tell me that the door latch needed replacement, even though that was the whole reason I called. Door latch only was replaced after a second visit. A Toronto Appliance Service technician came to our home, waited outside the house for 15 minutes and then rang to have the part replaced in 15 minutes. I was charged for a full hour of work. Had to call them to ask for a refund. Horrible experience, never buying an appliance again from IKEA or with the Whirlpool brand.

Worst service I have ever experienced!

I have had my Jenn-Air fridge for about 10 years. About 4 years ago we had a problem with our ice maker. It took them 2 months to finally resolve the issue, what with no-show appointments, parts on order and service tech's ineptitude. About 2 1/2 years ago we had a problem with the evaporator which is supposed to extract the moisture out of the freezer. It took a few visits to get it changed. Total cost - $533.24.

This January we started hearing the same noises we had when we had the evaporator issue before. I called for service & complained that this was the same issue I had previously had. A tech came and took apart the fridge, cleaned up the evaporator and then put it back together, no charge. I asked why he hadn't put in a new evaporator. He said they should last the life of the fridge.

The noise came back a few weeks later. Whirlpool sent 2 techs and replaced the evaporator again! $420.60! One of the techs said these things were poorly designed. No kidding!

Never again!

We bought this Whirlpool dishwasher #WDT910SSYM from Goeman’s in Stoney Creek

Sent to Goeman's as Whirlpool has no email address :

We bought this Whirlpool dishwasher #WDT910SSYM from Goeman’s in Stoney Creek on March, 24, 2012 for $707. It began to give us problems back in October of 2016 … so just a little over the 4 year insurance protection program time frame.

The problem at that time was a broken rollout basket adjustment device on the top level of the basket, which was obviously a problem that Whirlpool was familiar with as they (Whirlpool Customer Service) immediately knew of the issue as I launched into my explanation.) The cost to us was about $90.

It was also apparent that this problem was wide spread, in that when the “brackets” arrived, Whirlpool had switched from the cheap plastic bracket device to a metal one.

Then just last month the unit started to leak. The repair service person we called said that he was familiar with the unit’s problem, which was an issue of the washer motor mechanism having to move up and down so the washer bearing wears out …. and that this problem would cost us $250 for the part and the same amount for 2 hours of labour. Plus $87 for his time to diagnose the problem.

FYI, we use the dishwasher only every 2nd of 3rd days, so as the dishwasher is just over 4 years old we are very disappoint in the Brand. Particularly as we have had other brands that seems to last forever.

We are also sure that there is little that you can do to help us. BUT we wanted to make you aware of this very poor quality product as it now reflects on you reputation …. and it certainly colours our consideration of both Whirlpool and Goemans for future purchases of the various lines you carry.

I will also send a copy of this email to Whirlpool but it would sure carry more weight if you did the same thing.

Kitichen Stove

Bought this stove 11/5/13. Three years old. The mother board is gone and whirlpool wants over $500.00 to fix it. I know that Whirlpool builds a life into their appliances, but three years? I talked to them twice and they offered no help. I WOULD NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL AGAIN.

Don't trust Whirlpool Repair

I needed my microwave fixed before Christmas. It told them the exact issue and gave my model number so they can order the part. On the Monday before Christmas the tech (who was very friendly) called and said he's in the building already so can he come over to do the repair a day early. I said yes and came home for from work. He came and put a cup of water in the microwave, it didn't heat, he said he doesn't have the part and I'd have to make another appointment. He was in my place for 2.5 minutes. I was charged $100 and still didn't have a working microwave. I had to cancel Christmas dinner at my place. I'm not sure what the point of this visit was because this was NOT a SERVICE/REPAIR appointment.

Their customer service person should have scheduled a repair. I'd rather get a bill for $300-400 and have a working microwave than pay $100 for someone to do exactly what I did and leave in 2 minutes.

Side note: both whirlpool products in our condo have stopped working and they are under 5 years old. I have GE and LG microwaves/ovens in my other condos that are more than 15 years old and still working so I WILL NEVER buy a whirlpool product again.

I want to be very clear in this review - the Tech was very friendly, I have no issues with him at all. I am upset at Whirlpool repairs though for wasting my time and money and ruining our Christmas. They called after I tweeted them and said that's their protocol. That customer service agent was very rude and kept speaking over me. Just don't waste your time with them.

Customer Service POOR

I just spoke to Gabi, in customer service and I was delivered a brand new $7000 Professional Series Gas Stove and it was dead on arrival. Called Whirlpool on day of delivery and they refused to bring a new stove. They said they would do the many repairs even though it was still wrapped and not even turned on...... NEVER BUY WHIRLPOOL !

Convection oven door lock motor malfunction

I called 1800 number of whirlpool Canada to repair my oven /microwave unit. I told them the error codes displayed on the screen.
They sent third party appliance repair company named Standard appliance ltd based in milton.
The tech came and took long time to diagnose it and asked me to pay first for this trip and then you will be charged for the part and next trip too. I asked to give me estimate of total cost that I should budget for it. He started showing me attitude and said I'm coming back.
I called his boss Henry and he was rude and I said why you are so rude to me as customer and he said customer is always wrong.
I gave him my credit card number and now reporting to whirlpool about this company.

Kitchen Aid chimney hood fan

The short story is that the box was missing a part. The long story is that it has now been 3 months, I have made 23 calls into their customer service line at a minimum of 30 minutes per call. Wrote 3 letters to their customer cares department with no responses. 5 scheduled full day appointments (had to take off time at work) with no technician showing up or calling. Finally 6th time technician shows up but with wrong part. Had to pay my installer again ($700 in total bills now) to come to explain to the Whirlpool technician which part is missing. Tweeted my rage and finally now getting "responses" but no fix in site. I have never dealt with a company with worse customer service skills. Company does not stand behind their products, don't waste your money it will lead to heartache!
