Our shower drain was clogged and the plastic snake I was using didn't resolve the issue. P&HH was quick to respond to my request for a quote on Homestars and three hours later the plumber had been to our home, resolved the problem and provided recommendations on how to prevent recurrence of the issue. Wasn't cheap but the service was prompt and professional.

George responded very quickly to my initial enquiry. We messaged back and forth till he was able to provide a quote. On the agreed upon date he arrived right on time, worked quickly but did a great job of completing the work. He also walked me through the steps of using my new BBQ and provided very helpful advice. Overall a really great experience. I highly recommend GasGuys.

Jon responded quickly to my request for a quote and the work began in less than a week. Will and Chris did an excellent job, paying attention to detail and responding patiently to my questions. The results exceeded our expectations.

Len was very quick to respond and helpful in providing recommendations on what kind of unit would best meet my needs after Moe came and took a look at my situation. The installation was done a week later. Moe and Brandon did an absolutely outstanding job. They were right on time and worked non-stop till I was happy with everything. Everything looks clean and there are no wires exposed. It's like a work of art. They were also very thorough in cleaning up after themselves. The Mitsubishi unit we had installed is absolutely silent when you stand beside the compressor outside the house. Very impressive. If you're looking for a ductless unit, make sure you call Tempasure.

I contacted Charlie last fall about renovating our eyesore of a detached garage. We'd hired Charlie's company (Mr Rescue) for a number of jobs over the past few years and were always very happy with the results. Charlie gave me a quote for what the job would be but, unfortunately, he sold the company and left before the work began this spring. He was good enough to text me to give me a heads up. I'm disappointed he left because I liked working with him. Once the work began there were a couple of added charges that I was surprised by and this put us over budget. The guys who did the work (Than, Juan, Arek and Karam) did an amazing job. Than, in particular, often worked diligently on the project even when it was raining outside. Arek, who also built our deck with Than last summer, came back a number of times to fix details I was not initially satisfied with. They all were very attentive to my requests and did their best to make the garage look great. There was a bit of a delay in picking up the debris created by the project but at the end of the day we are very happy with the way our garage now looks. The end result surpassed our expectations.

Maciej was the only one who responded to multiple messages I sent out through Homestars seeking a contractor to redo the roof on our semi-detached house last November. The time between our first email exchange and the job being completed was less than two weeks. I never actually met Maciej but we had lots of email exchanges and some phone contact as he helpfully outlined my options and provided recommendations based on our particular situation. We were very happy with the results and the work was done for a reasonable price. The only reason I didn't rate a 10 was that I found a few roofing nails on my driveway after the work was finished. This issue not withstanding, I have recommended this company to friends and neighbours who are looking to get their roofs redone.

This was the third time we've had windows installed by Ambia - a testimony to our belief in the quality of their product and work. We had five windows done this time (bringing us to eight Ambia windows in the house). Michael was very responsive going back and forth with setting us up with what we were looking for, even going the extra mile and helping to change the order weeks after we'd submitted it. George led the installation, working around the challenge of bars on the basement windows. Once again, we are very happy with how things turned out. The frosting on the bathroom window and the rain pattern on the basement windows looks amazing. There are probably only a few windows left to be replaced. When their turn comes, we'll be calling Ambia once again. The attached pictures don't do the final product justice.

I called Charlie to find out what it would cost to build some stairs from my backdoor out to the yard. He remembered me from a job he'd done for us a few years ago and came out within days. He gave us lots of great advice and the work started within a few weeks. We decided to go with something more than we'd originally planned. Charlie provided absolutely amazing customer service and was very flexible as we changed plans for what we wanted part way through the work being started. Alex, the carpenter, did an outstanding job. His craftsmanship was superb. We're very happy with the way the deck turned out. Great work at a fair price done with excellent customer service. What more can you ask for?

I contacted this company to do a long term radon test in my home. They were fairly quick to charge my credit card and install the test (a bag hanging from the ceiling in my basement). They said they'd come back in a few months to pick up the test and submit it for analysis. Many months went by and I never heard from them. I called them and asked about when they'd pick it up. They apologized and sent someone out within a week. The technician (David) picked it up and said I'd receive a full report in an email within a few months. I've never received anything and that was over a year ago. Very poor customer service. I shouldn't have to chase them for what I paid for.

Brian was great to deal with (as usual) and Jason did a great job with the installation. The work was done in a timely way for a fair price. Great experience.

Adriano came by the house within hours of a phone conversation during which I explained my problem to him. He was on time, professional and polite. He took apart part of the washing machine and quickly corrected the problem. His price was very reasonable. I was very relieved to find him because I'd talked to another highly rated appliance repair person I found on Homestars a couple of days earlier. This person diagnosed the problem over the phone, told me the part that was apparently needed was no longer available and that we'd need to buy a new washing machine! I told Adriano all this in advance when we talked on the phone but he took the time to see for himself and fix the problem. He will be our go-to person for all our appliance repairs going forward.

The company was very professional. They confirmed the appointment and arrival time the day before and about 20 minutes before the electrician arrived. Enrico was very polite and completely professional. He provided useful advice on the project as well as another one I'm considering. He did a great job, correcting the sloppy work of an electrician from another company. A little expensive but you get what you pay for. Captain Electric will be my go-to company for all electrical matters going forward.

Scott was right on time to do our annual filter replacement. Despite having a very sore back, he was his usual friendly self and worked quickly. He answered all my questions. Great service. We'll be using them again.

I hired StudentWorks to paint my hallways and stairwell as a result of them knocking on my door and doing a cold call. Jackie provided a very reasonable estimate. A few weeks after I gave them the go-ahead, he and John arrived at the time they said they would. They were very careful about getting the work done right and did a great job. I would definitely recommend them.

Our shower was not installed properly by the previous owner of the house. It eventually deteriorated to the point where water was dripping down to the floor below. I found Charlie right here on Homestars. He responded promptly and went through my options ranging from an economical, but likely short-term, fix to a complete replacement of the curb and base. After much consideration we opted for the latter. Charlie pulled out the old base, built a new one and his associate, Sebastian, put down new tile. They did an amazing job, completed it in a timely way and under budget. I will definitely hire Charlie again.

I looked everywhere for covers that weren't an eyesore. I considered the ones from the big box stores and aside from not fitting perfectly, they didn't allow for air circulation and had to be permanently installed. After a google search I found this company and called George. He came to the house very soon after, showed me my options, took measurements and photographs and then sent me some mock-up images showing what the finished product would look like on my windows. The covers were custom built for my window wells and a few weeks later George came by and installed them himself. They look great (or as great as you can expect window well covers to look)! The product is definitely more expensive than what you'd find at the big box stores but you get what you paid for. The great thing about them is that they can be easily slid off to be cleaned, they allow for air circulation and are very durable. You could step on one and it would return to its original shape. Great product and great company. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

The quote Pierce provided was not the lowest I received but he was creative in coming up with a good solution to repairing and partially replacing our eavestroughs. He started the work when said he would and did it in a timely fashion. He made sure to follow up with me after the first rainstorm and agreed to come back to fix a spot that was still leaking in a timely way. Through the whole process he was available to answer any questions I had and provided thoughtful advice. I'm very happy with the service provided and highly recommend Tip Top.

Shortly after we moved into our house I discovered puddles of water in the basement after the first heavy rain. I called Chico based on a recommendation from another contractor I had used for another job. Chico arrived within an hour and told me what he thought needed to be done. He gave me a quote and considering the scope of the work, it seemed totally reasonable so I gave him the go-ahead (even though he encouraged me to get other quotes and opinions). His crew arrived about a week or so later and worked pretty much seven days a week for around four weeks excavating the entire perimeter of the house down to the footing. They parged the concrete, put on a rubberized coating and another protective membrane to send the water to the newly installed weeping tile. There were a few glitches along the way but Chico was very attentive and made sure we were happy with how things were being handled. His brother, Rico, was onsite most days and I was really impressed with his desire to do everything the right way. Rico and the rest of the crew were just amazing. We've dealt with many contractors since we moved into the house and they've all been really good. With few exceptions we've had no complaints. Aquashield is a step above. If you want your basement waterproofed, want it done right and want it done at a reasonable price, these are the guys you want to call.

We needed a single window replaced. Most companies I called (ones rated highly on this site) didn't bother returning my calls or disappeared after coming to the house and seeing the small scale of the project. Ambia was honest and said that they'd be happy to do the work but it would take some time as they'd want to coordinate it with a larger job they're doing in my neighbourhood. A short while later the installers dropped by to take precise measurements and a couple of weeks later we booked a day and they did installed a beautiful window in only about an hour. I'll be using them again to get more windows replaced. Great service and I'm very happy with the product.

The water in our 80 year old house tasted funny. Dave was very responsive and gave us a 10% discount on the installation since we found the company through Homestars. The system was installed a couple of days later. The installer arrived on time and was professional and polite. Our water tastes great now. A great service and I expect this is the start of an ongoing relationship.

Robert came out to the house on short notice to check the attic for mould after we failed to get a response from another company we'd used in the past. We were on a tight schedule as we wanted the attic insulated by another contractor. Robert worked on our schedule and fit us in on a Saturday evening. The great news was that our attic was free of mould. I appreciated Robert's professionalism and honesty.

Amazing experience with this company. Brian from sales is a role model for excellence in customer service. He even responded to my emails on a Sunday and provided lots of guidance on what I need and don't need. Honest and thorough. Steve and Rob did a great job with installing the system and locks. The only thing I would have improved is if they had brought a shop vac and cleaned up after themselves (but I know that's probably asking too much). Excellent organization and I'm really glad I went with them.

Kiril and Steve were just amazing. It was a long day but they never lost their sense of humour. There was a lot of heavy lifting that had to be done, including a big oak dresser that had to be moved up a tight stairway, but they moved everything with minimal damage to our stuff. We've used a lot of movers over the years. Viktoria is on a whole other level. They're a bit more expensive but it's because the movers take their time and ensure things are done right. I'd highly recommend these guys.

Paul and Harold came in to do our floors on very short notice so we could have them done before we moved in. They worked hard and were finished ahead of schedule and under budget! They were thorough, honest and did a great job bringing the floors in our 80+ year old house back to life. We're very happy with the work they did and will hire The Floormen again in the future when we're ready to replace the ceramic tiles in our kitchen with hardwood.

We had Drainworks repair the cracked clay pipe under the house and driveway and replace all the plumbing under four sinks. Armando advised us about the extent of work on the drains that really needed to be done right away after a camera inspection. He was thorough and came back and showed me what they had done with a second in drain camera inspection. We were pleased with his professionalism and honesty. Phil did the plumbing on the drains. He came and gave us an estimate for the work and then proceeded to do it the same day with our approval. He was very thorough and we really appreciated the attention he paid to details. He even fixed something another contractor had done poorly for no charge. He was also a lot of fun having around. He is going to be our go-to plumber from now on.

We've had Kris over to our new house three times, first to get the radiators on the second floor working and then on two other occasions to replace corroded pipes (one that could have burst any day if it wasn't for Kris intervening). His work is good and his prices are reasonable. If you have radiators that need servicing, he's your man. I don't hesitate to recommend him highly.

Nev came out to our newly purchased home and provided very helpful advice about how to deal with the asbestos wrapping some of the pipes. We really appreciated that he didn't use any scare tactics and actually suggested we only remove the asbestos in the areas where additional work was to be done. He was amazingly helpful with providing guidance around how to deal with several other issues as well. Great company! I highly recommend them.

Bruce built a couple of bookcases for me and did a great job at a reasonable price. The work was completed in a timely manner and he was very patient with all my questions. He is now my go-to person on any custom woodwork I need done. I recommend him highly.

Gallo and Christian arrived right on time. They were super patient despite the fact that the move took an hour longer than expected because of difficulty with moving a large wardrobe down the stairs of a house. They were polite and great to work with. I'd definitely use them again.
